I've run for 15 months and I was proud of myself for running 4.5km today (my record is 5.8k)... One thing I've heard is basically once you get over 2km or like 15 minutes, most of it is just mind over matter.
What is impressive about a pair of skates ? he was using skates, he as well be using a bicycle and still make a lot of miles, you can not compare the running vs skating.

Going on a slow run still requires discipline, but you will only sustain that discipline if you enjoy running in the first place. Other than that, running is, first and foremost, a highly relative thing regarding any numbers such as distance, pace, heart rate, VO2max, size, age or bodyweight. For some 1 mile is easy, for others a slow half marathon is easy (I have arrived at that point, but I didn't start there). You can always be proud if you were able to improve.
And this is just the beginning my friend. All marketing companies going full in on AI to replace employees. Next 12 months I predict graphic design will be a job if the past.

In order for walking to recharge them, they would have to *take* energy from your step instead of adding to it. Imagine walking on a reverse conveyor belt for an hour. It wouldn't be an efficient transfer of power so it would be a huge detriment over a long distance, not to mention the ~5 lbs added to your feet that's effectively doubled by the walking action.

His 1000 mile 10.5 day effort is unbelievable. His insane endurance is shown when he was finishing a full day ahead of 2nd place in the Sydney to Melbourne races 1985-1990.

What if, like, the Moonwalkers were unpowered and the wheels had one-way bearings in them, so when you move them back, the wheels lock, but can roll forward fine? It would take a lot to get used to, but you'd be able to recycle energy each step to glide forward rather than have to plant your foot stationary on the ground. And to slow down, have a mechanism that raises the wheels when you curl your toes and allows braking wheels to sap momentum away as heat. Of course, it would have issues on long hills, but I think its a cool idea.
