I think the reason the last stunt was harder than it was supposed to be is that the plexiglass you are using is more flexible than real glass / a thicker piece. That creates a surface that is curved because of your weight on it, and that means that the suction cups have a harder time sticking to the surface. In general, it would be easier to sort of one-arm pull up and then you can press the cups more into the surface (but scarier to get hit in the face if it fails). So if you want to try the stunt again, you have got some tips hahaha. Anyway, I love your content, keep up the good work.

yes and the suckers design is not as good, what they need is the one with larger flaps at the edges. as u slap the sucker onto the glass creating a suction strong enough to hold but it takes longer to un-suck.

Those cups would be more effective with a twist-ratchet-pump mechanism. Twist 180º with the arm would have much more power suction than just the thumb, just in a single twist, in that demonstrated push-suck-swing-regrab action. In the critical initial grab would quickly manage for the distorted surface in any time-window when the conformity mismatch was minimal. Naturally, it would require a complete ground-up redesign of the device.
@-danR Sadly I think there's a reason it requires finger control. Any big hand motions would move the device until it has a very good vacuum seal. I assume the edges are rubber to create an airtight seal, and twisting would probably mess with them.

18:30 - I think it might be difficult because your plastic glass, or whatever material it is, is too flexible (and two wooden boards also). Due to the bending, when you put weight on one hand, it’s very hard for the other hand to stick without additional push (and when you on vertical - there are no bending and no problem with sticking because there are no leaking between seal of the pump and surface). The pool surface in the movie seems sturdier, so this trick might actually be easier for you there (as it was in film)

I think the reason why he's getting it is because his swing is taking weight off the one he's on in the moment he attaches the other. I bet Magnus is pulling himself up as he tries to put it on; so he's bending the plastic more with each placement.
I use those kind of suction cups for work here in Norway, and the ones you are using are made for completely flat glass panes. You can get different ones that are designed for more curved glass with larger rubber lip on the outside. The force of smacking it straight on the glass with those will force some air out and starting the suction for ya before you pump it, witch probably would make mounting the next cup alot easier. They are rated for like 220kg or something and would probably make that stunt possible. Mvh Bilglass montør fra Norge🫡

On the hanging section his was sticking because he's going in a straight line. You were going offset, and the concave of the plexiglass wasn't letting the suction cup stick.

If the plastic board was stiffer and more tightly connected so it was held more flat even when Magnus is hanging in it It should be much easier.

I don't know how the exact mechanism works, but you might also need to reset it with the release button if you fail on the first few pumps.
