The e46 diesel is my favourite car I’ve ever driven. Having owned about 35 vehicles then I have the right to say that. The looks are superb, the engine is superb, the fuel economy is superb, the handling is superb. I can fault nothing with the e46 Coupé diesel. It’s just got everything. I’ve owned two of those now and would never ever sell the one I’ve got now. I wish they still made them. No new car looks as good as this
Without a doubt mate very underrated I think and they look better with age almost haha, but yeah you defo wouldn’t think it drives like a diesel! If anything one of main reasons I think I love mine so much is down to how they handle such a refined car for the money, defo not getting rid of this one now either! Same here haha that’s true but makes you only appreciate the one you have more I think as you see less about! ☺️
@@MissionKid The older Diesel engines were more reliable but if your are spending that much money I wouldn’t get an e46. They are getting old now and trying to find one that has low mileage and isn’t starting to rust is not so easy. I would go for something newer.
@@recall2880 I’m buying one in about a week time don’t know which one 330d or 335d e92 2010-2012 model m sport plus around 300bhp is enough for me for a daily
Nice mate they’re bullet proof! Mines on 272k at the moment still going strong, would just recommend you re enforce the subframe on a drifter! It’s common they can crack, something I still need to do on mine just a daily though! 😊
@@Burney_ so glad to hear, those miles are a bit scary! It’s not rusty like allot of them, but yeah everyone has been warning me about the subframe, not sure wether to get a bracing kit welded in or get a 6 point brace where you drill through the car and bolt the subframe to the brace
@@SKOMPAS I genuinely would trust it more than some cars on half the miles though I guess trust is built right 😂 i remember when I got it on around 192k being skeptical but I can say it’s never let me down, sure you’ll feel the same after a few miles! I guess best option is the weld in kits for the boot floor as it usually pulls though there from what I’ve seen! The more the better though 😅
Always loved the sound of a 6 pot. My previous car was actually a mk5 Golf R32. Loved the car to bits apart from the heavy tax bracket of £540 for the year and hefty fuel costs. As of late, my attention is strongly swaying towards a BMW 530D. It seems you get a lot of car for the money and a bullet proof engine that brings a grin to your face every time you drive it. I've not had the pleasure of driving one yet but will look at a test drive in one when I can. Great video Burney, hope you get many more satisfactory miles and smiles from your motor ;-)
Yeah r32s sound wicked mate love the noise ok then, but yeah that tax bracket is crazy and fuel isn’t cheap I can imagine! But I would say when it comes to a good balance of everything without a doubt a 3l diesel is the way to go they are bullet proof from what I’ve seen wicked cars a lot of car for the money too! Well worth even a test drive! Thanks mate same here haha 😃
Yeah they do suit it well! Came on this when I got it and good quality wheels aswell! Nice fitment too and don’t need to mess with spacers or arches! 😃
I'm exactly the same as what you said at the beginning. I had a 2000 330Ci as well as my A45 AMG I'd had for ages. Anyway loved it but couldn't continue to justify 2 cars so naturally kept the mercedes. But then when it came to house buying time and maximising deposit I had to get a cheaper car again for a bit. So for me there was no other car I wanted but another 330🤣 yeah well I still have it and it's still my only car and I still don't want anything else lol! Happy days, enjoy yours mate always liked the look of the diesels👍
I have a 330d 2000 Sedan ! Thought about getting rid of it many times but it still runs, I am in between having it forever or selling it. it has 382 000 km on it (237 000 miles) and I am driving it through Europe right now. It needs some major repairs done on it, but yea we will see! :)
Well worth it mate they are built proof won’t let mine go until it’s rotten away or written off for whatever reason tbh! Just about to clock 250k in it now! 😊 I know what you mean it’s a love hate 😂
@@Burney_ Thats awesome! 250k! Its about 400 000 km which will definitely be a mile stone for me too. Btw does your fuel consumption readout work ? mine shows way less than the actual consumption..
@@karolis123 Hopefully it will hit 300k happy she’s still strong at this mileage! But no idea tbh it works but I’ve never actually checked to see how accurate it is tbh! But it can do just over 600 miles to a tank 😊
@@Burney_ Ya! it probably will! I have seen people on some forums talk about how they have them until over 400k miles :) Ah okey ,so the milage is about the same as mine then, although it shows way less on the meter ..
Yeah I do forget that’s the correct term half the time 😂 I’m sure you won’t regret it will be better on fuel 330ci’s are great cars too gone massively up in value too past couple of years!
Gutted to hear mate but 330ci is still a good car I’d say my partner has one but you’d defo notice the difference in economy, also when mapped with a few mods the 330cd’s have more bhp and torque if you’re doing longer journeys I’d defo go for a 330cd might even be cheaper to ensure aswell 👍
If you want a more track focused car, 330ci is more fun, its a fair bit lighter and the engine is more enjoyable on track. If its your daily, id for sure go for the 330d. The diesel has far better economy, and it also has substantial power at low rpm, which makes it far more relaxing to dd, as opposed to the petrol engine, which you have to ring out all the time as it has basically no power at low rpm.
It won't be running 290bhp with a stock turbo, would need a hybrid for that. Brakes on mine are awesome, stock discs with Brembo pads all around. Mine has done around 190,000 now and stands me at £1500 after replacing the front shocks, rear springs, brake pads, donut, prop shaft bearing and blanking off the swirl flaps. It's the 6 speeder before they fitted the DPF. Handling is dangerous in the wet even with the stock 200bhp, when the traction kicks in it's already too late. It's hard to get a decent launch without big wheelspins, my MK4 Golf GTD mapped to 200 brake is faster, better handling (has been setup for the track) and cheaper to run. The BMW 330CD is more fun when you want to mess about getting sideways and is way more comfortable when you want to drive like a grandad which the stock suspension is made for. Also better, more luxurious and impressive if you want to take out the laaadies. In future I might upgrade the suspension, weld the diff and take it to the track or buy a Z3 or MX5 instead.
Could well be a hybrid one then mate been mapped by Gkr, but nice that’s all good then. Still going strong then only little things at the mileage all common things I did on my last one too 😂 but yeah great thing about them as no dpf on the e46s! Yeah fair play to me I usually turn traction control off when I get in as it’s a bit more predictable but doesn’t help having an open diff at times! Something I defo want to do is get an lsd on it! Being a daily welded isn’t the way to go haha. But yeah I know what you mean no weight on the back I suppose, but nice before I had my kid 330cd I had a pd150 mk4 that was a wicked car but just much prefer the rwd cars for that exact reason haha! Yeah I would defo recommend doing suspension on it with adjustable camber plates on the front makes a huge difference to steering response! Feels a lot better! Both are also good cars but great thing about the e46s is they’re easy to find the parts for sounds good though!
After having owed the m3 as well I would still rather chose the the 330d as they’re better on fuel! I would say the 330d is better than 330ci personally as more economical and tuneable 😊

What happened to your previous ones engine?
Previous engine lost compression on cylinder 3 believe the rings went from high pressure pump leaking in and contaminating fuel in oil 😕
This is concidered low milage in finland😅
