Excellent review! I just bought the e60 530d manual a few months back, and at that time I was very tempted to chose the e46 330d… and to be honest, I love the e60, but there is something very special about the driving in a e46.
Hey, I absolutely agree with you on the e46. I was never a bmw guy, had mercedes Audis vw's from that era but fell in love with the e46 330xd touring 6 speed manual from a friend. bought it and now daily driving it in Germany. Euro 3 sucks but I love the car for what it cost me haha
Very good and helpful review. Thanks for it! I am currently deciding between E46 touring and E39,wondering which one would be better for me to own :D i am inclining to the E39 bit more because of the size and more practicality ,but E46 touring, specially 330d is also very tempting to me. :D This era of BMW has probably the best and most beautiful BMWs ever, specially the E39 in M-packet.
I have e46 330d 150kw 6 speed manual and it consumes on average 6l per 100km with lot of speeding. Only thing i dont likenis turbo lag. Bur when turbo spools its a rocket.
We think the 3.0d in the BMWs are great. Very good on fuel and very powerful. The turbo lag can be annoying but we like it as it had some character to the car.
@@HudRodAutomotive i need to change comn raili pressure senzor my consumption has droped to 5.5 l with reduced performance, i cant wait to fix it :) its fun and economical car :) even when it works right it consumes less fuel than my 1.4 petrol shitbox
Hi Do you still have this car? If so can you test something for me? Can you see if you can hold the revs steady at 2000rpm in neutral as I’m trying to use an intake cleaner that says you need to keep the revs at 2000rpm but when I try to do this it just keeps climbing even though I keep my foot still? Regards
Ye we noticed a bit too. that does tend to happen a bit with diesels. Nothing to really worry about. And I wouldn’t worry about the exact RPM for intake cleaner.

Thank you! Appreciate the feedback

I have the f30 330d, and have spent a bit of time in the g20 also. Neither one comes close to capturing the magic of the e46.
E46 see still my favourite 3 series
Same! its just a perfect combination of comfort, driver feel etc.
