Those guys could do anything, your GP’s work still roams the roads and oceans today and that’s something. my Dad was a machinist 34 yrs for Timken in Columbus Oh. I bet there are trains that still ply the railways with his handiwork aboard. I wish I was 1/2 the man they were 🐾🇺🇸✌️
OMG Wayne! The way that thing pulled on the first run...WHAT A RIPPER! So much stronger than it was...now the rest of the ol' beast is going to need some beefin' up. Thanks for the show, as always my brother!
You are showing your age that's not the common rail fuel system that is the 2 stroke Detroit that makes the sound they went out in the mid to late 80s when Detroit brought out the 60 Series. I would like to see it have an Allison behind it for drag racing but that might put it in another class I am not familiar with the rules
Awesome run man. Definitely a good way of proving how rock solid and competitive the common rail conversion. But now is a good time to look over the data, do whatever adjustments that are needed, and hit again next time man. You guys are awesome. Keep it up! 👍
Fat cab did exceptional considering that was it's "maiden voyage" on a ride hard motor. It's a shame the clutch didn't hold up better, watching it's performance throughout the video I was thinking to myself that it looked like it wasn't pulling as hard on the dig and I was surprised the clutch wasn't blown then that last pass played and you talked about how the clutch roasted, I kinda called it, but either way it far surpassed my expectations becuase it's not often that a "prototype" performs as well as it did without issue on it's first attempt. I think the science speaks for itself, slap a stronger clutch, some super singles, and lett'er rip. Proud of you guys really makes me wonder how it will do in the long run with the reliability of a two stroke AND a common rail combine. As long as the fancy wires hold up our great great great grand children will be driving it 😂😂😂
I am so stoked to see a 2 stroke Detroit taking such a strong position with basically seat of your pants tuning and experience the day of the event. Can you imagine what a 12V71 or 92 would do with common rail???? It might rip a hole in the earth!
There was a european truck pulling team that posted some videos on youtube of their common rail 12v92. They abandoned the project because they kept bending or damaging cranks. RVengineering or something I think it was called.
Man, that thing ripped for the first time out!! Somebody did SOMETHING right!! If you could get it to hook a little better out of the hole, it will be a big help!😄👍
The Crusty Fat Cab and what Jason has come up with is amazing. I don’t think a V12 would fit in the chassis, but I didn’t think common rail on a 8V92 was possible last year either. Thanks for the videos, Wayne.
12v92 is longer but the block is dimensionally the same where it would fit down in the frame rails. Hood will have to be stretched 18" or so. I'll most likely be building a new truck around that engine, as I'll need a heavier trans, driveline, and 46k rears with different suspension to hold up to loaded racing.
@@TheCrustyFatCab It will be awesome to see. What you have done with that truck is impressive. You should patent the Common Rail adapters for the 92 and 71.
Catching up on my back log of videos, and I absolutely love seeing the GMC perform. I'm not a huge fan of anything modern, especially the issues that common rail injection rigs have brought along, but I'm digging the conversion on this one. It has a lot of potential, and I'll definitely be following to see where this one ends up.
That’s the absolute most beautiful and awesome truck I’ve ever seen! When y’all get all the bugs worked out that’s going to be a force to be reckoned with…… Thanks so very much for sharing this with us and please keep ‘em coming…..
Great video Wayne that was awesome the Crusty Fat Cab for it first time running common rail fuel 8V92 worked great then the weak link show there ugly heads. But you'll figure it out for next time. Thanks for sharing Wayne.
Would love to see how this technology could be applied for fuel savings on detroits still out there working. I know my 6-110 likes the fuel :) Could make swaps real popular too!
A 6-110?! What a treat! Those weren't so popular because of the poor fuel economy vs power output. They're quite uncommon now, even more rare than 2-71 or such. It would be interesting to see what it could do, if one could work on development more. (Pick up where GM left off, and using modern technology.)
Shit man. Just found your channel. Don't know how this hasn't popped up before. Let me know where you're gonna be this season. We wanna come see the truck. 🤘 Roll on.
Oh man watching him row through the gears on that first pass was epic! She rips 👍
I read your comment before I watched the run... LOL... Reminded me of my youth in my 440 Six pack Super Bee......
He is gonna haft to come off the line a little softer. She smokes the wheels . Hahaha it’s a runner though.
At 0:30 sounds like a Rotax 850 Etec turbo R in skidoo!
Can’t wait to see more of the fat cab! That things got such a unique sound. Who’d a thought there’d be a laptop plugged into a 1950s truck!?!
Fr and 0:15 0:15
I love unscheduled 2 stroke vids.
The more the merrier.....
The algorithm never dissapoints
It just looks and sounds really pissed off!! Love that truck!
No finer sound than a 2 stroke Detroit putting in work. What a bad ass rig 👌
Love hearing these guys run. My grandfather was an R&D machinist for Detroit, in Detroit MI for 30 years.
Those guys could do anything, your GP’s work still roams the roads and oceans today and that’s something. my Dad was a machinist 34 yrs for Timken in Columbus Oh. I bet there are trains that still ply the railways with his handiwork aboard. I wish I was 1/2 the man they were 🐾🇺🇸✌️
First time out on a fresh build can't be mad about that once you guys iron out the kinks it'll be a force to be reckoned with
Friggin sick boys! I really prefer my diesels with little to no wiring, but this deserves mad respect!! Incredible work, congratulations!
Kudos to you and Jason and everyone who worked on the Fat Cab🙌🏻
Here's to the Crusty Fat Cab kicking ass in the future 🍺
OMG Wayne! The way that thing pulled on the first run...WHAT A RIPPER! So much stronger than it was...now the rest of the ol' beast is going to need some beefin' up. Thanks for the show, as always my brother!
Lots of 2 stroke music in this video, love it. Awesome!
Ol’ DD loping like a cammed out gas motor, I love it what a beast. I rode those ol 2 smokers when they were still on the roads, yeh I’m old lol 🐾🇺🇸✌️
it certainly has a unique sound compared to standard injection.

Its a two stroke engine, not a four stroke, thats why it sounds like that, half the strokes, double the sound
Lil Jimmy says "C'mon Kitty, let's play!"
Fat Cab is so much win. Every reason to be stoked with that first time appearance. Totally badass man, I love it.
Awesome run man. Definitely a good way of proving how rock solid and competitive the common rail conversion. But now is a good time to look over the data, do whatever adjustments that are needed, and hit again next time man. You guys are awesome. Keep it up! 👍
Having data logs to look at is certainly a new and welcome addition to racing this ol turd. Believe me next time it comes out it's gonna be serious.
@Jason D exactly. When it comes to an old two-stroke detroit with a common rail system and the ability to data log is when $h!t just got serious.
That was killer, heck of a video.. thks for sharing video
Jason shifts like I do...lmao I LOVE the sound of a Detroit at high RPM. Especially on decel.
Thanks for taking us along totally awesome truck
Holy crap that things fast ! So cool

such a rare truck and combo yall put together and run like it did is just plain cool!!! fantastic!!
Outstanding work
The old fat cab is crazy good, what a ripper, Jason has to be stoked.
When are the common rail conversion kits gonna hit the market?😂😂
When Chrysler stops making them outta plastic
Seriously 😒 no joke. Plastic.
Suspension tuning, clutch. Driving time . All will come together!
That motor is Impressive. Congratulations
Awesome Wayne!
Wicked badass!!!
That thing sounds angry!!!
Was super cool to see the fat cab run in person. And it was super cool to meet the brains behind the madness
Lol I don't know about brains. Just doing more with less around here 😅
Awesome show Wayne, thank you
Love that minty fat cab! She's a ripper
Awsome Wayne, that sounds awsome
Wow, really enjoyed the video. Great work on the truck, and the driving is top notch!

How about a Nissan UD 2 stroke common rail! That would be sick
@@jlo13800 Not familiar, but I'm sure it would rock!
Can't wait to see more of this
Awesome!!! Glad to see the progress 💯 congrats!!!
Excellent job, love the truck and that mighty Detroit devil
I actually met this guy and got to ride in his truck in the event, it was awesome. You can actually see me in the passenger seat at 14:34
Man, that thing ripped for the first time out!! Somebody did SOMETHING right!! If you could get it to hook a little better out of the hole, it will be a big help!😄👍
Wicked keep it up . More needed
Lets see the ol 3408 get some tts and hit the track... huh love it as usual
Hellow Wayne good to see again buddy
Tons of fun...Detroit's are awesome.
Wow that thing is incredibly quick
SCARY QUICK!!!
You guys kick ass!
That's a sweet build.
Awesome. Wish can get off the line a tad faster. Those big ones are quick. Love it hell yea.
New tires and new clutch for this year should help us off the line.

Common rail 12v.....
Outstanding boys... cheers 🍻
I rekon if ol mate had a play with tyre pressures the fat cab mite be 1-2 tenths Quicker thanks for posting up great content Wayne👍🍻🇦🇺
What an awesome build, wow!
She runs as good as she sounds ❤
That’s bad ass!
The run that starts around 9:20 is epic! That Jimmy can haul!!!
What an absolute treat
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
Thanks for the wild ride!
Dang that was why I still love Detroit!!
Just shows us,never give up on any of the old 2 strokes and can take a true beating.
Awesome my cabin is on 6 mile road love onway been coming up there for over 34 years hell yeah
Catching up on my back log of videos, and I absolutely love seeing the GMC perform. You're gonna want to watch for this years event video. Alot of work done over the winter and we're on another planet now
those were sum dam good close races. winning by a nose is always better than a mile
That’s the absolute most beautiful and awesome truck I’ve ever seen! When y’all get all the bugs worked out that’s going to be a force to be reckoned with…… Thanks so very much for sharing this with us and please keep ‘em coming…..
Love the Detroit’s. I only have a 2-53 in a John deer tractor but I love it.
OK boys & girls that is how to have fun on the weekends!!
Great video!
With that cloud of tire smoke I think you’re due for slicks!
Bad ass!! Ive got a 8v92 in my gmc general, awesome engines
Holy two stroke !!!!!!!!!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great video Wayne that was awesome the Crusty Fat Cab for it first time running common rail fuel 8V92 worked great then the weak link show there ugly heads. But you'll figure it out for next time. Thanks for sharing Wayne.
Thanks for the content man! Keep it up!
First time out and pulled a couple wins 😮 💪 🥇
I love a big rig with a lot of power
I think it needs a Watts linkage to stop it from axle hopping like that
Dude is great at bull$hitting through TECH inspection. I used to offer beer and THC to help me through IHRA tech 😂
❤❤❤❤ Wayne
Jason should be proud
What sort of power it putting out
And just curious what the top speed at the end of the track ??
Just awesome guys 👍💯
SSSSSSIIIIIIIIICCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!! Such a killer truck!
Bro that is so impressive I can't wait to see what happens next like seriously that is dope as hell
MINT surprise extra 92 content 🤟🏼 Today was crappy before, but not now. Cheers Wayne 😎
Great one Wayne!! Wow!!
Dude! That thing rips 👍
This video has a real cool vibe.
I was there and talking with you guys about the truck
Gad Dayum ! 😲
That was A HELL OF A SHOW ! 🤘😎👍
You guys are awesome.
DUDE WTF
I LOVED IT WHEN THE TURBO GETS FULL AND THEN HE GRINDING THE GEARS AND STILL PULLS LIKE A SCREAMING DEMON
Would love to see how this technology could be applied for fuel savings on detroits still out there working. I know my 6-110 likes the fuel :) Could make swaps real popular too!
I'm sure with a good tune it could make a difference. Plus it should clean up the emissions a little.

Love this truck next time tell him to try pulling the loaded trailers
Tried that in '21 just as an exhibition run. Truck isn't built heavy enough driveline wise to do loaded class.
Driveshaft would have to be 6 inch solid steel rod.
gale banks did talk about converting these engines to common rail some time ago,but it looks like you nailed it
That was badass!!!!!! Thanks!!!
She’s a ripper for sure , nice work fellas 👍🏽
The old fat cab is badass
Awesome sound!
It has a mix of 96 7.3psd, a ge and a alco locomotive, 100% nice!!
Hey man, great video👍👍👍
This video made my day!
That was sooooooo cool 😊 You guys Rock
THIS MAKES MY HEART THROBB A SCREAMIN JIMMY
Awesome job!!
Shit man. Just found your channel. Don't know how this hasn't popped up before. Let me know where you're gonna be this season. We wanna come see the truck. 🤘 Roll on.
I'll be at Kuhnle Motorsports Park this weekend... then mostly truck shows. But Jason and the Fat Cab aren't coming.
