I wonder how the amortisation of the Rice deal was structured. Maybe we've had to set aside a large portion of this year's transfer budget to pay for last year.
I agree, I can't believe this wasn't put forth as a counter point to George's argument. We've overspent massively over the last 3-4 years and that was going to catch up with us at some point.
10 months from now Alex will have califlori hair and a back pack. when we win the league. Bavs will be high and unmovable and George will be playing career mode showing where we need to improve. And it will be great vibes.

George sounds incredibly entitled and naïve in the conversation around budgets and spending this summer.
When we were spending whilst outside of Europe, we were speculating to accumulate. We were spending money we didn't have by accruing debt to the Kroenke's. That does have to end at some point, and I would not begrudge KSE for expecting at least a portion of that debt to be repaid or to stop growing.
I'm also baffled by his waffling about net spends. Where is the consideration of wage impact here? What would two new wingers do the pathways, or even minutes for Martinelli/Trossard?

We could easily convert Martinelli to a top Striker. He should PLAY second striker after Havertz, get nico williams in.
Where the f is George getting his numbers...we've bought Calafiori, Raya that's 75 million, merino at 30 is over 100 million if we added Nico or Eze that's 160 and he wants osimhen on top of that...that's 280 million...he's literally just making up numbers...🤣🤣

Imo George is not taking into consideration high player wages, amortization costs, and possible changes to PSR guidelines. Well ran clubs are always preparing way ahead in the long term and there are plenty of financial factors not available to the general public.
people saw rice struggled progressing the ball for england and decided to blame rice instead of southgates terrible tactics and team structure, thats why everyones saying rice cant play 6 , rival fans that watched the england games just talking rubbish
I think it’s worth noting that Nelson and Nketiah looks like it’ll be loans with obligations so with PSR that wouldn’t show until next season (if I understand correctly)
I think Califiori will be either left CB or DM (with Rice as left 8, Timber at lb) in the long term. DM possibly in the big games. His skill set reminds me of Arteta. Not necessarily saying that world be my choice. He'd be lcb against defensive teams.

If Calafiori or timber is playing LB, I’m more comfortable making the midfield more attacking by putting Kai back in LCM. Their defensive stability will allow a rotation between Martinelli, Jesus, and Kai
I wouldn't be signing to wingers like Giorge is suggesting. If we get Nico, Merino, Cala, and we still have money to spend and want to spend it on something I would rather bring sign Ruiz as an additional midfielder or signing a prospect striker or defender and potentially sending them out on loan immediately, something like Hato and loan him out

Calafiori instead of Gabriel, Timber at LB. Switch off going forward and progressing the ball. Or White and Saliba playing CB and Timber at RB (this is what Arteta did in the early Nottingham Forrest game last year with Partey at right back)
Arteta already showed to start last season he wants a different dynamic when he started the season benching Gabriel.
I think Odegard playing in the left 8 role makes it easy for Arteta to plug a right 8 gap with the talent currently at his disposal.
I'd be interested in seeing Timber and Rice as double pivots in the mid.

i think our field tilt and xg were off because of partey and mls playing at the same time. i think if we see jorginho play with mls or partey with timber we will see more control in the middle of the pitch

Rice was a 6 when we had real trouble creating chances esp in the middle of the park. He is the player Wenger needed as a 6 but now its a different game. Still think he is good but definitely don't think he was a bargain and think many over hyping him. Both Euro finals he has looked a bit of a technical donkey. Defneed somelse in there with the progressive passes although hopefully he improves. Shame Zinchenko fell off snd increased his brain farts or he might have been a balance. Butbtime ro mive in from him niw I think.
This is an absolutely terrible take from George. First of all, I don't know why we're just assuming that we'll sign Nico Williams. Getting him would be a HUGE coupe and i don't see it happening.
Merino should happen but we also just assumed that we'll easily sell off Nketiah and Nelson. Getting all of these deals done for the right price in the current market is NOT as easy as you made it sound.
And in your financial analysis you're completely forgetting that many of the players we paid for in the recent windows are staggered payment terms. You made it sound like you know all our accounts inside out when you clearly don't have the best understanding of them.
Don't get me wrong, I like your footballing takes but it's crazy to put THAT kind of unrealistic pressure on your own team mate. With this attitude, you're guaranteed to be disappointed.
I dont think spending big would make me happy if we didn't spend smart. The two need to coincide

I just don't see Osimhen happening unfortunately. I can see Williams happening due to him and Arteta both being Basque and the fact that Barca just don't really have the money. I really think that getting another RW is imperative though, otherwise Saka's gonna get run into the ground. I'd be seriously looking at trying for Raphina. Barca need the money

i swear arsenal fans overate the heck out of martineli, mans saying he would prefer neli over williams ? is man having a laugh ? nico williams would cook at arsenal bruv, especially given rice's limitations in that left 8 role, that trio with califiori would be crazy. Oishemen is a bad boy tho, the only thing i'll say though is that having a target man like player like him would make you attack a bit more predictable as creativity would have to be funnelled from wide areas coming into the box, potentially making you guys easier to defend against which then makes me question a signing like merino who's quite defensive minded in how own. Eitherway i dont care about you man, just make sure you win the league enit, im bored of watching city win everything
