Im a plus sized romantic (18 to 20) and the problem i have is that most of the clothes available on my size make me look bulky and drag me down because im not very tall im 5'4) so i usually go to a taylor to cut things to a length that suits me and make some arrengements to garments and your tips became very handy so i know what to ask to the taylor to fix 😊
I have the same challenge 😊so hard to find romantic clothes in general. And with plus size is even more difficult … but I have to be kreative. I’m also thinking to tailor clothes
Almost 100% same here though I'm an inch taller.
I also constantly wear waist belts
I’m not a tall person and people really underestimate how much tailoring your clothes can make a huge difference in how well put together you look.
Tailors and even seamstresses can be expensive. See if you can seek out clothing lines that specialise in your size but have petite leg length for example for trousers. Some brands do adjust dress sizes for shorter women across their garment ranges.
I agree with a lot. The leather jacket part? Paring it with a skirt looks fantasic on me as a romantic.
Agreed. I'm a TR and I like pairing leather or jean jackets with heels so it adds a little bit of femininity to the look.
Also leather jacket with long flow romatic dress with frills looks great and topped with a leather beret look very feminine.
OMG...I'm in Australia and our winter is basically everyone's autumns... so this is so good!! I can't wait for SOFT NATURAL
So happy to see you're doing this series for autumn now, too! I loved the summer style videos. Excited for Soft Natural! 🍁
Agreed!
I love this kind of series. Looking forward the Soft Classic one.
This video is perfect for all those ladies who ask for Romantic clothes and don't want to look too retro, but modern.
I live between two cities, one in the mountains and one in the coast. So in the mountains I will be wearing this kind of clothes in a month. In the coast in full winter.
As a soft classic I like to accommodate some indications for romantics, as I think that if it is not over the top, it works well for us as well. As TR/R and SC sometimes we have hard time to accommodate well out Yin energy if we don't want to look too girly. Clothes nowadays is not thought to be that round, but on the contrary, it works better for Yang energy 😢
I’ve never been 100% sure what my kibbe ID is, all I know is I HAVE to have waist emphasis, I’m petite(5’2/115lbs) but, I have a pretty curvy bust-waist-hip ratio. I guess it doesn’t matter what the ID is as long as I follow the lines of my body type! I look absolutely horrible in oversized, bulky, or straight lines. Thank you for these recommendations!
I'm a romantic and my sister is SG, and because of her curviness she was constantly in doubt between R, SG and TR. Seems like you have a very similar body type, so I'd recommend experimenting with these lines. Good luck, it's so much fun
@@ingrid9635 thank you! Fall and winter are the hardest seasons for me to find flattering clothes in. I tend to wear dresses with coats instead of sweaters because no sweaters ever look good! Except like Aly said- cropped sweaters with a thick wait band!
Omgsh I'm in the same boat as your sister! I'm just petite and a bit round/soft. I basically have to pull a mix of recommendations from all three because I have no idea what I am! I don't have the double curve to be romantic but I also don't have the angularity for soft gamine! I'm just stuck in the middle so maybe I'm TR?? @@ingrid9635
I am a culprit for collecting bulky, oversized, and long cardigans. Imagine you had a bad, stressful, or menstruation day; you will most likely desire to wear those clothes... All because you want to avoid getting attention in the most stressful situation. It's really challenging to wear comfortable clothes as Romantics.
Wow. This is absolutely how I feel. If I don’t have waist emphasis it feel like the outfit isn’t quite right, but on some days I just don’t want to. I’ve found throwing a jacket on over top helps me feel a bit more covered but still within my lines. ☺️ maybe that will help you too
You don't have to perfectly dress for your body type 24/7. Ain't nobody got time for that.
But if you want a hack, wearing a crossbody bag over an oversize outfit gives a little waist definition without the discomfort of tucking in your top or wearing a belt.
One of the most helpful videos for a romantic body type for the autumn/winter season!!
Waiting for theatrical romantic 👗💃🌹
I'm a crochet artist, and planning to make myself a couple of sweaters this autumn. Waiting on the TR video for inspiration and I can't wait!
Yay I’m so excited for this autumn series! Loved the summer series!
Hi Aly! Your outfits are always so cute! Would you make a video on your favorite stores or places you like to shop for clothes? Thank you!! ❤
I love the sweater recommendations. It’s so hard to find petite sweaters that don’t read as cute.
Petite styles are often “cute” or super uptight and conservative office wear. And my biggest pet peeve is that petite clothing is usually very square and rectangular, they assume small people can’t be curvy! To them petite = skinny.
@@Kris7245 it does seem like there are endless gamine options doesn’t it. I have a long rise but short legs so I need regular pants and have to get them hemmed. Petite tops are wonderful though.
Ally, I love your reaction to the 80's peplum outfits 😂
Can you please do some hairstyles and haircuts maybe even haircolours for Romantics because everywhere i look is just an example of Marilyn Monroe and my hair doesnt hold curls. I have a hard time finding the most suitable hairstyle for me. Thank you💛
Have you looked at some haircuts on Drew Barrymore or Salma Hayek? (I know Salma is TR but I still think it could apply)
thank you so much, aly! I am so tired of wasting my money and feeling frustrated trying to follow trends that don’t look good on me. now shopping is more enjoyable and rewarding.
I always cinch my long, bulky winter cardigans (or sweater dresses) with a sizeable belt. It helps to maintain the right shape while allowing me to stay toasty during winter months.
So excited for the one on dramatic 💜
👏autumn style laws!
Thank you Ali! The summer videos were awesome 🤩
As a very petite R I love a turtleneck if it’s nice and sleek it helps keep the emphasis on curves while being comfy. Totally agree on blazers, gives me instant truckdriver energy 😅
Oh! I was hoping you'd continue this series into fall. Can't wait for soft gamine!
I have one of those tie waist sweaters and I LOVE it. In autumn I wear fine knit sweaters, and pants and midi skirts that hang close to my body, and also start tighter at my hips and thighs. This year I want to add a satin slip dress and some delicate turtle necks to go under it.
Love this series! Can't wait for Soft Natural xxx
Aly, i love this series "style laws" - the summer one i saved and rewatching from time to time! thank you) will wait for my DC))
I am loving these classic law series. I do enjoy the fun videos very much but It's great to see videos that I can apply in my life in a practical way. Keep up the superb work Aly!🤗
Yay so glad you’re doing this for fall too! ❤
Thanks for doing this autumn style laws series.. 😊💛
Love the series of this kind!! Thank you!❤❤❤
Hi Aly,
Could you do a video about what necklines suit the body types best? 😊
what a creative and artistic soul...such a pleasure for the eyes. Thats what life is all about to use our sense....play with colours and emphasize our features. We are all beautiful like flowers just different variety and so is food, and cultures, llandscapes, countries...I am in love with being alive, I find inspiration in so many videos and I am impressed with different skills, we can all learn from each other. Great job!
Sooooooo helpful.. I followed your videos when they first came out years ago and had the info at the back of my mind but when I went to a wedding recently and experienced how TYPICAL romantic body I have through looking at the professional photos from that day, I realized not any dress will work with my rounded curve curve curve everywhere indeed. Like a month difference between two weddings, one looked really flattering and the other made me look like an actual chubby person.. thought I have to go back to watching your videos and here I am, everything you said is totally on point I have experienced allll what you said before and even undefined at the waist long coats worked for me when open and showing high-waisted jeans with top tucked in. I wasn't so sure of the result when I first learnt I'm a romantic but when I gained a little weight it was clear as the sun I belong to this group. The only trouble I have is with the trenchcoat. Years I've been searching for one but because I'm very busty I never like the look or sometimes it's too long. I keep trying every single time I come across one but they always fail me. 😢
Thank you for the video Aly ❤
Oh my gosh, thank you! I never understood why my leather jacket looked too much on me. Thank you❤
I feel so romantic today!
In this video you're shining , you look amazing as always but with something extra. I don't know if it's your shirt, the color or your hair that it's a little bit longer with waves. And of course, amazing work in your videos ❤
In my country autumn is basically is an extension of summer, very hot and humid
PLEASE DO SOFT NATURAL NEXT!😃
Love your videos :)
I’m a Romantic, and cardigans are my most favorite sweater style! ♥️ I hate a peplum on me.
Thank you for talking about cardigans, because they are a necessity when temperatures can swing around by 20 degree in autum (5°C in the morning, 25°C in the afternoon). Funnily enough, no matter what wrap style I try, it always looks ridiculous on my. I don't know why, it should be perfect for my romantic (or maybe theatrical romantic) body type. I can't seem to be able to drape it in a good way. Faux wrap tends to look better on me.
Aly I like your make up in this video 🥰🥰it’s perfect for romantic, right?
Can you make a tutorial please 🥰?
Thank you
PLS do flamboyant gamine next!!!!
I love your top💛
You look gorgeous
I love the top you're wearing
This is super helpful, thank you sm❤️
Please do makeup for romantics
Aly, will you please do a series on dressing for a pre-menopausal/menopause body of each of the body types. I cannot find this topic anywhere on RUclips and those of us in our middle age have no where to figure this out. I have always been romantic body type and only recently (thanks to your videos) realized it. Typically I gain weight evenly and can gain or lose 30 lbs and still wear the same size. But out of nowhere I have menopause belly and waist emphasis is only calling attention to it, but no waist emphasis adds on the illusion of another 30 lbs. Shapewear is not a super option because this change is bringing hot flashes and 5x as many trips to the restroom a day and do not want to spend half of my time in their struggling to get everything back on in a tiny restroom stall and the rest of the day wilting because I'm too hot. 😅Grandmacore is not my style. Please help. 🙏❤
Thank you, Aly! Most of my answers in the test are E, with some C and D. My body shape is very similar to Marilyn's, but my face is not as delicate as hers - I have a bump on my nose, which makes my nose a little bit bigger and longer, although it's still rounded/soft on the tip. Can I still be classified as a Romantic in this case?
Can’t wait for TR!!
Any recommendation for pregnant romantics/TR? Especially, if not accentuate bump?
I love these series
Please please please do gamines next 😂❤
Yeyy 🥰 Looking forward to this series. Soft gamine here
Yess!! Been waiting for this
Thank you!!!!
How can I do waist emphasis when I plus sized? I do narrow in at the waist, but the front of my stomach has two bumps and basically my belly button is indented creating a B-shaped belly from side. Even high waisted pants tend to slide down into the indentation at the belly button which creates a pooch or muffin top appearance at the front (not so much at the sides). I want to tuck in shirts bc it's so cute and adds waist emphasis but I end up showing off this bump/roll whatever it is and then I'm self conscious. How do I work around this? Thanks!
Thank you. Very useful information.
Can't wait for SDs!!! :D
YAY!
Thank you! 💗💗
you are realy good
By the time you get to dramatic autumn will be over! 😂😂😢😢
Looking forward to it 💖
Everything is so boxy for autumn and winter. It’s hard to shop for feminine clothing
I’m very short (152cm tall), Very hourglass, but I don’t appear to need to accommodate for petite clothes. Am I romantic?
Hello and thank you, I could not find this series of autumn for theatrical romantic, is it me having problem to find it or it doesn’t exist? Thank you
Amazing!
Si helpful thank ypu are u gonna do theatrical romantic or is it the same rules as romantics???
I need this for soft classic/ soft natural. Do most of the tips apply to their shape as well?
Do you offer online consultations??❤
0:58 -> romantics
Por favor haz uno de soft y dramatico
Is soft gamine coming soon? And how do I know if I’m a soft gamine or theatrical romantic? They seem similar??
I think I’m a romantic body type but I’m confused because I’m not hour glass, apple shape and I avoid belts and short tops because they draw attention to my waist and boobs. Really unflattering. ☹️ I think romantic is the most difficult body type to find nice clothes for. Thanks for the video.
Maybe soft natural? Just saying that because of apple shape. Yet I don't know your essence or how much petite you have
@@savanahmuses Thanks for the reply. Yes maybe. I’ve always thought soft naturals were fine boned and elongated limbs though. I’m petite but proportioned. I might go back to the drawing board. 😊
@@sugarplumk2381 soft naturals have blunt angles and larger bones, they are more frame-dominant, vs. romantics who are flesh-dominant. -- maybe soft classic? If you are proportioned
@@savanahmuses Ah, that’s a good explanation, thanks. My daughter is definitely a soft classic. It’s so much easier to see someone else’s type. We did the test for her together. She’s a lot like me when I was younger but because I put on weight as I got older I see myself as fleshy and rounded.
I still am not sure of my body type. I don't believe I am any of the gamine types, though I am only 5'1". I feel everything you have stated here for clothing fits me to a T. I have never felt good in bulky clothing or sweaters. I do not like oversized clothes on me. As a fair complected person I know at least 2 colors that I feel terrible in. That is a mustard yellow and a true red. I'm sure there are others. I like to dress and feel feminine in my clothes even when I am wearing jeans. I like well fitted, not tight clothing. I like my hair to be in place and clothes to be ironed and no stains before I leave the house. My question? I am what I would call medium boned, a little fleshy in the upper half of my body, not underweight nor overweight. My question? Can you be a romantic body type with my height and characteristics?
can you make one for theartical romantic
For fellow romantics who like leather jackets and punk style, look at Drew Barrymore's 90s wardrobe!
Did Aly share her body type eversince she said she isn't SF ANYMORE? I am dying to know
hey aly do dita von teese i loove her 😭😭😭
I'm not ready for Autumn
Autumn isn't ready for you.
Oh im so readyyy here in Spain, too hot for me
I may be a romantic or a soft natural and I do hate belts, so oh well will look bulky forever...😅
You don't need belts, just follow your lines + softer fabrics. As a TR I rarely wear belts and if I wear an oversized knit - not my best look but comfy - I will team it with skinny jeans or something fitted to try to add some delicacy to the outfit!
Sometimes a French tuck helps!
Bro this is why I only like cardigans from the thrift store …. 80s :)
It's funny that Tanesha Awasthi is on the R thumbnail. She's super tall, thus, according to Kibbe logic has long vertical line and can't be R.
can someone tell me if its possible to be a R or TR if you have no boobs?
in my opinion, identifying people's bones are way easier to identify.
As romantic, I believe it is possible for someone with no boobs can be R or TR by observing the skeleton's frame. Most importantly, check out if your shoulders are slopes, like Doja Cat (TR) or Marylin Monroe (R). -If not, you may not be in the romantic category.
Next, check out your facial bone structure...if you have a lot of roundness or have a wide face, possibly you are R. If you are TR, make sure the bone structure is very delicate and not wide.
Next, examine the overall body frame with your face and body altogether. Similarly, both R and TR have waist emphasis. As Aly Art mentioned in another video, TR looks narrow and looks like a bird. Also the R frame, they look big-boned and has no sharpness.
MEGHAN MARKLE does she know her body type? !?!?!?!?
I cant wear cropped stuff it makes my belly look really large. I am fat- a size 14 and am short 5'3
You may be able to wear some cropped items with a higher waisted bottoms. I’m in the same boat as you and shopping is exhausting, but I’ve seen others pull it off. I probably just need to put more time and planning into shopping.
I’m a 5’2 size 12 and can relate! The other comment has it right- try to pair it with a high-waisted pant (I like the everlane curvy ones with the shorter inseam) or skirt and it will work well. I’ve gotten some nice cropped wrapped cardigans that work beautifully with those high waisted jeans and boots with a slightly pointed toe. Adding the right belt might also help to create flattering waist emphasis with a cropped top and high waisted pant.
Stop using white backgrounds pls, my eyes hurt
Can't wait for Teathrical Romantic!
