How much do overdentures cost, how much does a snap in denture cost?

  • In this video I tell you how much a snap in denture costs. Since there are many variables involved, I give the cost of having 2 implants placed, 2 snap on locator posts on the implants and a lower snap in overdenture with a metal framework embedded inside the plastic to give it more strength.
    Thanks very much for watching.

    Thank you for actually giving an idea of costs...
    I am so sick of "well could be 17k per arch, or 30k per arch", or all together no pricing at all. A lot of places I have contacted seem to want a way to wiggle the cost as high as possible when possible.

    Finally a dentist who is willing to give some version of an actual price. Instead of saying "the cost depends on this, it depends on that, it depends it depends it depends on many factors" and then giving no dollar amount even though their video title says that it's a talk about the cost. I had remaining teeth extracted. Then I had a temporary set of teeth to wear while my post healed. Four on top and four on bottom. Then I healed and then they sent out to have the permanents made. It cost me $21,000.00 for everything. This is in Texas. Others wanted more and I am satisfied with the work that was done. Forgot that there were adjustments made along the way. No more gum pain and trying to chew with what teeth I had left.

    I'm going to the Dental school in the large town in my area, they quoted me
    75$ for each extraction 750.00 for ten, two lower implants at 700.00 each, lower and upper dentures 600.00, and 200.00 for abutments. 2950.00 for everything.
    I have tried calling and researching other dental services, but they won't give me a straight answer.

    I am going in for my implant surgury on March 2nd, 2021. I am only having the top over denture, as I still have my bottom teeth. The denture itself, same as what you describe in your video (except with 4 snaps), is costing $5250.00. This price includes all moldings fittings and adjustments. My implant surgery is four 4 implants and 1 bone graft. The cost is $9,300.00. They are charging $2100.00 per implant. So, my total is $14,500.00. I live in Charlotte NC if that makes a difference.

    Great video. It covered exactly what I am looking for, a lower snap in denture. (I'm a new denture wearer, upper & lower). Your implant cost is reasonable, as I've seen a lot higher. I'm not near New York, and am currently looking to get the work in Las Vegas, and hoping to find someone soon. Left wondering if I can wear my current denture over implants while they heal and bone adapts? I was not aware of the metal bar you show. Am I incorrect to assume that it could be done without the lower bar and the cost might be lowered that way?

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  3 года назад +6

      Hi, yes you can wear your current denture while the implants heal. It will need to be adjusted so it doesn't put pressure on the implants as they are healing. As to the metal, the cost in my office would be the same with or without the metal bar. I highly recommend the metal bar, and won't make the overdenture without it. Thank you very much for watching!

    here in st.louis missouri one snap on implant $1700 , in june 2022. i think that is expensive vs NY. probably very expensive .
    it should be around $1000 .
    especially we are in 2022 where routine and availability is different than 10 or 15 years ago.
    but money grabbers are 97 % of dentists, only fewer are true human dentist doctors , i know i visited at lest 15 different dentists in 16 years time repairs, extractions, root canals, many many crowns and 2 bridges replaced twice, etc. received over 1000 anesthetic injections some time up to 6 on one treatment , sometimes 5 and nothing had to stop and come another day to do tooth work .
    good dentists are rare !

    In Cancun it around $11,600.00 to have your teeth pulled, bone graft’s where needed, 8 mini implants for the top and 8 mimi implants for the bottom,IV sedation both top and bottom palateless dentures that are made from diamond rock and all doctors fees etc.
    so far I haven’t found anything close here in the states.
    I decided on palateless, snap on dentures because dentists here don’t want to work on another dentist’s product, especially from another country. So if you get the All on Fours, you have to have them serviced every 6 months. Good luck finding a dentist here that’s willing to service them. Snap on’s you can clean. Good luck!

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental

      Hi Dennis, conscious sedation is very popular with anxious patients and patients undergoing larger procedures such as All on 4. Patients who only get one or two implants (even 4 implants for overdentures) generally don't get sedation unless they are anxious. All on 4 usually involves removing all the teeth, placing implants, and trimming down the jawbone. For all that work, patients usually prefer to be sedated. I hope I answered your question.

    Minnesota here. I'm half-way into traditional dentures (upper and lower). All teeth have been pulled (4 months ago) and have been doing weekly and bi-weekly adjustments, but it's getting very difficult to keep up with because I'm a paraplegic with MS and have to use public transportation. Plus I have barely been able to wear my temporary (very generic) dentures due to the gum pain and difficulty in cleaning off all the adhesive needed to keep them in. Still on a mashed potatoes and applesuce diet.
    So, I am re-considering getting implants. I'm going in for my THIRD consultation to compare costs. So far I've been told nearly $40k for fixed implants (all inclusive) by one place and around $20k by another (not including all the extractions since they are done already) for snap-on implants (4 implants on each arch). At almost 70 years old, I'm not interested in acquiring massive dental debt (I might not live long enough to pay it off, lol). I'll follow up here with my final results and costs.
    But in the meantine, I do have a question. I've not heard anyone here or in any video speak of "tiny bone splinters" that have to migrate out of the gums. Is this just "a given" so no one mentions it? And how does this factor into the whole process?
    Thanks, Doc for your reply and for the great videos you have here on RUclips. 😊
    MA in MN

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi, the bone splinters are called "bone spicules". Usually they're bits of bone that instead of being resorbed by your body during healing, they get pushed out instead. They're not a problem usually, just an annoyance until the extraction site is fully healed.
      Good luck with your implant journey. Another option that I've done for patients is to make a full upper denture and a lower overdenture on 2 implants if cost is a concern. The dentures don't stay in as well as they would with 4 implants in each jaw, but it works much better than upper and lower full dentures. Something to consider.

      Without seeing the teeth and an x-ray, I can't give you an accurate estimate as to how long it will take to remove the teeth. It could be 5 minutes, it could take 35 minutes (not including the time it takes to anesthetize the teeth and perform the sedation). If you are anxious about the procedure, by all means get the sedation. Talk to your dentist, should be able to give you a more accurate time estimate.

      Hi Dennis, how did your dentist plan it out? They should tell you how the process will go. When I have a patient who decides on a fixed "all on 4" type of prosthesis, I'll make an initial denture which becomes the "fixed temporary denture" when the oral surgeon removes the teeth and places the implants. The denture gets converted into a "fixed denture" . Once the implants have healed, the temporary fixed denture is replaced with a fixed bridge.

      If you want to convert from a snap in denture to fixed teeth, I'd recommend you find a dentist close to home since the process can take a few visits and that way if an issues come up during the process, you can be seen right away. The smart conversion kit isn't made for your particular situation. Usually you will need new posts on your implants and a new set of fixed teeth. The dentist will have to check to see if your current implants can be used, it depends on how they are positioned in your jaw.

    Are they both the same please ?
    Kind regards Denis

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  2 года назад +2

      Hi Dennis, a "fixed denture" generally refers to a full arch bridge on implants, (the bridge is not removable by the patient) and the bridge is made out of the same pink denture acrylic and denture teeth (with a metal bar inside for strength) as a denture. It's also referred to as an "all on 4" (although more than 4 implants can be used, in which case it would be called an "all on X" with "X" being the number of implants that were used).
      Nowadays, denture material is still used but it's more common to have the full arch bridge made out of zirconia or a polyceramic composite over a fiberglass core (the core material is called "Trinia").
      A "fixed bridge" is any type of dental work that is not removable by the patient, and has false teeth with no support directly underneath them. Think of a suspension bridge, the roadway in the middle is supported by the ends but there is nothing directly beneath it holding it up.
      I hope I explained it well.

      Hi, I will prescribe antibiotics when I'm placing the implants. The recommended dosage is usually 2 grams of amoxicillin an hour before getting the implants placed (as long as you are not allergic to penicillin). Previously, offices were prescribing a weeks worth of antibiotics, and prior to that, a months worth. The antibiotics help to decrease the chance of implant failure. • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  3 года назад +2

      Hi, the most common maintenance item is the plastic snap inserts. They need to be replaced from time to time as they wear, you'll know because the overdenture doesn't stay in as well. The overdenture itself will need to be relined after several years , just like a regular denture. If you wear the overdenture without getting a reline, it will start to wear the implant posts down. The posts are replaceable and can be removed from the implants.

      Hello Mr. Walker, it sounds like one of the screws that holds in your upper temporary bridge has come loose. The bridge should be firmly in place with no movement. Get it looked as soon as you can. That type of movement in the bridge, even just a tiny bit of movement, could end up breaking the screw, the abutment, or even the implant.
      Sincerely,

      I don't chew any food that is tough and I look after them the best I can,
      I'm due to have my real teeth in 4 months time and I'm going to pay the extra to have them here in the UK to be able to converse in English and have some understanding and after care.
      I think it was a bit brutal in Turkey to have my teeth extracted and 8 implants without a anesthetic just injections !
      Is it possible for a dentist to break teeth and then drill a hole to accommodate the implants ??. It's just that I seen little bits of bone flying about when he was drilling !. I was drained and traumatized when he finished to say the least !!

      Hopefully the screws holding in your temporary bridge just need to be tightened. Have it looked at as soon as you can to avoid any complications.
      Yes having all your teeth extracted and that many implants placed in one visit is a lot of work to have done. Most of my patients elect to be sedated for that type of work. And yes, teeth are extracted and holes are drilled for the implants, and usually bone needs to shaved down as well to make room for the temporary fixed bridge.

Unfortunately, I cannot go to you for my Dental Implant work because I live in Londonderry, N.H, 45 miles North of Boston. Thankfully there are a good number of very good Dental Practices for me to choose from here as well.
      I wonder if you could answer a couple of questions I have about the process. I just had the first Consultation visit and follow up consultation visit after he got everything back from the lab. I was given 3 options, 2 of which were way beyond my means so I went with the 3rd and most affordable option of a 3 implant snap on/overdenture made of zirconia over pmma for my lower arch and a traditional removable denture for my upper arch, also made of zirconia over pmma. For the traditional and "Immediate" non retained upper arch denture made of zirconia I have been quoted a price of $5049.00. For the 3 implant snap on/overdenture for my lower arch I have been quoted a price of $12.019.00. My dentist is sending me out to an oral maxillofacial surgeon to have the remaining 16 teeth in my mouth extracted. Based on online estimates I can expect to pay somewhere between 300.00 to 400.00 for each of the 16 of my extractions, which looks like will be costing between 5 and 6 thousand. Are the extractions the only thing the Oral Surgeon will be doing or is there something else I can look forward to paying for? lol 🙂 I do not need bone grafts so I don't know what else there may be that the Oral Surgeon would have to do. Thanks again for all your great videos. They are most helpful in so many ways. There is a lot of fluff out here on the web on everything and you are a refreshing alternative to that

    Wow, you're so much lower than all the other YT dentist......But I had a consultation yesterday and with 8 extraction and a temporary denture then everything you pretty much described 7200 which is unbelievable since I was quoted 35K for the same and then 45K for the 4 on 1 6 weeks ago by a dentist 20 minutes from the dentist I was at yesterday.

      Colombia is extremely cheap. I know a place that did my friend's zirconia veneers for 150-200 max per tooth. So I'd assume snap on , or all on four dentures would be extremely cheap. He paid about 6000 for a whole set. Here in the US it's 1500+ per tooth.. over 60k! thats a x10 difference its crazy here

    how much is average cost to have 9 teeth extracted while. under iv sedation?

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  2 года назад

      Cost will depend on where you live in the world. Costs will also differ if you have a general dentist pull your teeth or if you have an oral surgeon pull your teeth. There will be a cost for an exam, x-rays, and the 9 extractions, plus IV sedation. Get a couple of estimates in your area.
      I don't offer IV sedation, but I do offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas).
      In my office the costs would be roughly $3060. but not with IV sedation, only nitrous oxide and local anesthetic.
      My office is a half hour north of New York City.
      Hope this helps.

      @@VeryNiceSmileDental yes thank you for taking the time to reply. hopefully I will b able to find a oral surgeon because there no way in hell I can sit being awake while a dentist is digging broken decayed teeth out of my jaw . I am deathly afraid of dental work and it's half the reason I'm in this situation to begin w . my dentist of almost 40 yrs passed away several years ago and I haven been able to see a dentist since. sounds crazy but I've had some aweful experiences while I was in the Marine Corp while they used me as a guinea pig to train the naval offices to become dentists . I was hoping to b able to have everything done at once so I didn't have to go without a tooth in my head and could have it all done at once but doubt That is possible . . . insurance is a joke for most part not covering most procedures and having minimal coverage that caps out at 1500 or so if the Dentists offices even take it without paying upfront in hopes of being reimbursed very lil if it's not exempt or preexisting .

I gave up n became homeless along w other bad situations and had major surgery n thought I wasn't gonna be here. well that didn't happen and I'm ashamed of myself for allowing life to get the best of me and I fell apart feeling sorry for myself. The expensive implant teeth are the ones that a patient can't remove at home. Generic name for that type of treatment is "All on 4" (even though there may be more than 4 implants, and the teeth may be made out of all zirconia). That type of implant teeth can cost 50 to 60 thousand (or even more) for the entire mouth.
      In the video I talk about "snap in dentures", also called "implant overdentures". People choose that treatment usually because it is less expensive and easier to take care of at home.

      So far so good , I’m in the healing faze , I had to have all my teeth extracted at once after an accident and have had dentures sinse I was 25 , I’m 30 now finally got the implants , I didn’t have enough bone up top , but on the bottem I did. Please if your thinking about doing dentures , you will not be able to live with them longer than5 years comfortably. Ppl might say u can , but you will lose weight and get more sores in your mouth than u could ever imagine . . If u have the financial capability to do the mower implant , do it and save your jaw. I’m at the point we’re it’s almost to late for me. I was lucky
