@@Angel-rq3pi I mean clearly they’re at least mostly right, it’s clear he’s answering the questions and nodding when they say things, at least once he repeated himself and Dad corrected himself in response.
Rule 1: treat everyone as if they are cognitively present, comprehend, and are a fully formed personality. I think that is the biggest lesson this channel teaches. Everyone is a person.
I couldn't agree more. I'm a support worker for people with complex disabilities (both physical and intellectual, many people I work with are non-verbal). When I first started, the best thing was discovering people's personalities and finding ways to connect. It's my favourite part of the job.
Before dad was in the shot, at the start of the video, I thought Lincoln used AI to speak but seeing its in fact not AI but it’s his dad . Just wow.. the way they do that together is just amazing! I NEVER donate NEVER, after seeing sbsk donate 1k to this family for his shower I just couldnt ignore that and had to throw in a 5er. I've been a fan of sbsk from 2019 and Chris Ulmer is absolutely the pinnacle of human empathy (not pity) This man has NEVER acted like he pities his guests, acts like hes better, or if they're any different. I suffer from extreme Bi-polar disorder to the point where I have to ask myself sometimes am I fit to be in public and I'm SO THANKFUL my disorder doesnt force me to be trapped in a body that doesnt work well or not at all. Thank you Chris, for everything that you do showing people that handicapped people are people too! You have been blessed with good looks, good personality, fingers crossed good youtube money, a good woman, and I hope you live a LONG life for all the good you're doing!
This is so amazing. I thought he was just moving his lips. When he said Dad and Mom read his lips I started really paying attention to him, and I could get a word or two. Shame on me for assuming he couldn't communicate!
I'm proud of you being able to admit that :) Human mind is actually quite lazy and likes to assume things as kind of a shortcut, but it's important that one realises and acknowledges it.
I’m pretty good at lip reading in general, but if you pay attention you can actually literally see him saying what his parents are saying. I’m sure if more people spent time with him he would be easy for many others to understand, if you watch closely you can see his lips clearly make the words.
I have watched pretty much all sbsk vids, have cried and laughed with them, learnt a lot. But this little gentleman has struck me as something else. He is out of this world, like an ultimate being. He doesn't need motor skills, man. He's got the iq & eq & wiseness of a 1000 years. I reckon he's going to become an author. Mark my words.
It blew my mind when halfway through the video they said that he is 11! I have never met an 11-year-old with this level of wisdom and maturity. What a cool person he is, and what an amazing job his parents, therapists, and teachers are doing at respecting him as a human being and helping to maximize his potential.
Wow!!! Just wow!!! Lincoln is beyond intelligent and his relationship with his mom and dad is incredible!! Mom and dad, you can be so so so proud of your son and how you’ve raised him! You three are true inspirations for all of us!
If Lincoln's parents read this, I want to let them know that they are doing everything right. I have a Client with the same type of myopathy who was also told he wouldn't live and he is now in his twenties! You reminded me a lot of that family, watching this. They also have such a great bond and the young man is very intelligent also. He uses the little mobilität in his right hand to control a motorized wheelchair, he ŵas a very good Student and is still able to work on his computer. I wish you the best and hope you will have many more years to enjoy your life together. ❤
There was a man that passed away recently who was the last person living in an iron lung. Despite his physical restrictions, he was able to become a lawyer and even wrote a book using his mouth and a pen on a keyboard! Truly astounding and this young man isn’t any different. He’s very articulate and mature for his age, and has drive! He has a bright future and I wish nothing but the best for this family.

The people on this channel are true inspirations to me. I'm very emotional, pretty pessimistic and can be somewhat anti social and judgemental. But beautiful humans like Lincoln restore my faith in the beauty, strength and pureness of human beings. They show its about your mindstste and to make do with the cards you're dealt. They show me that you have to make the best of everyday and love yourself and not to feel bad or be engulfed in self loathing. I don't consider many people heroes, but these are the super heros of the world. So brave, so strong, so kind and full of positivity. qualities I hope to grow within myself if even a miniscule fraction of what they have. I'm so thankful for people like Lincoln. I don't believe in heaven but if there is one I know for sure Lincoln will be an angel. Maybe he is an angel sent here to this earth to shed his light on the world . I just know he gives me strength and inspires me by being an awesome person. I'm thankful he exist and was kind and sweet enough to share with us his life experiences. Wait he's 11?????? What?!?!?!?!?! Dude this kid is so smart, I am in utter disbelief. I was like yeah this guy's like 19 or 20, he's well articulated, awesome vocabulary, great diction.... but no he's 11?!?!?! Idc about any differences in our minds or body, this kid feels smarter than me and I'm literally twice his age 😮 awesome outlook and I'm so happy to hear so much from him, his upbringing and view on the world is incredible. His family is so kind, so supportive, and understanding.. not traditional understanding like you think, but I mean truly connected and- like his mother said- very in sync. This is just my second video of yours I've watched, but I'm excited to go on a binge tonight of them to see more awesome families like this!
The most interesting part of this interview was seeing him in dialogue without a translator, like when he had a back and forth with his nurse. I am sure this comment will be buried but i just wanted to point out that in scenarios like this watching his normal dialogue with those who do have the capacity to communicate directly is extremely interesting and provides a different window into his world. Was especially cool when it was with his nurse as opposed to his parents (not that his parents weren't great). Would love to see more of that kind of thing in the future.

@@sumyho nope. mom and nurse can also translate. Heck, by the end of this video *I* could translate some of what he was saying
I’ve known him and his family for years now having the same condition as him…it’s honestly rough and I hope one day to be able to do a interview with you
Hey man do you have tiktok? You look crazy familiar?? If not, you have a doppelgänger somewhere on TikTok!
What a great family ! So nice to know them ! What a positive family to have as a friend
🙏💙
❤️
@@konner2024 Wait okay, I think I remember you now. Didn’t you make educational videos on dog breed?
Until they mentioned his age I just assumed him to be AT LEAST 19 years old.
'I did it' yeah, he made it happen, he has such a strong will and maturity for a 11 year old boy!
I love that he reached out and that you made it happen because I see him becoming a GREAT advocate for his community ❤ I can tell his parents did a great job raising him.
It's so amazing how people can learn how to communicate like this. Everything about this family is so sweet!
I am in awe of how his parents are able to understand every word he says. And im also in awe of how incredibly intelligent Lincoln is. Its very clear how well his parents care for him & how they have shaped his mind. I love these people. Wow. ❤
@@Parrotgirl-tattooI'm skeptical re: their translating. I mean.... How do we know what he's actually "saying" if they're the only two who "completely" understand him? Just a thought....
@@Angel-rq3pi I mean clearly they’re at least mostly right, it’s clear he’s answering the questions and nodding when they say things, at least once he repeated himself and Dad corrected himself in response.
@@Angel-rq3piI promise you Lincoln’s entire family can interpret for him if they had to his nurses and teachers too
@@lizwrites2463still skeptical...
Rule 1: treat everyone as if they are cognitively present, comprehend, and are a fully formed personality.
I think that is the biggest lesson this channel teaches. Everyone is a person.
Amen! This rule is truer than true. Just because they can't speak doesn't mean they can't understand.
@B-d3h - Well said and definitely right!!!
I couldn't agree more. I'm a support worker for people with complex disabilities (both physical and intellectual, many people I work with are non-verbal). When I first started, the best thing was discovering people's personalities and finding ways to connect. It's my favourite part of the job.
How sweet he asks you about your work life balance and is concerned for you. He's so special
Before dad was in the shot, at the start of the video, I thought Lincoln used AI to speak but seeing its in fact not AI but it’s his dad . Just wow.. the way they do that together is just amazing! I wonder how dad figured out he had such a skill ! It must’ve come from their incredible bond❤😊
Thank you for sharing their story! It’s so heartwarming to see how close they are and such a loving family
LINCOLN AVERY!!!!!
I am so incredibly proud of you!!
Over this past year, I have watched your confidence flourish and my favorite part is hearing your voice more! I am so blessed to have watch you grow from just a tiny baby into an amazing preteen! This entire experience has been incredible. Watching you want something so badly, go for it, and achieve such a goal is truly inspiring!! You are a role model for so many around the world, and sharing your journey helps other people in their everyday lives. Cheers to celebrating such an accomplishment! I love you so much! ❤ Aunt KitKat
Man I usually don't get weak often but he really touched my heart
Please don't confuse compassion with weakness.
You are stronger than you think. ✌️💖🙏🫂🤜
I'm over here crying
Emotion is not “ weak”. It is human.
I hope Lincoln writes a book someday. I would seriously enjoy hearing more from him and his prospective of the world.
This!!!!!
I hope someone truly spends time reading him all these comments!
It blew my mind when halfway through the video they said that he is 11! I have never met an 11-year-old with this level of wisdom and maturity. What a cool person he is, and what an amazing job his parents, therapists, and teachers are doing at respecting him as a human being and helping to maximize his potential.
Hey Lincoln it’s Shyne you did great and I’m glad to say I’m Lincoln best friend
Can you read his lips?
Wow!!!
God Bless you Chris & the people to whom you give a voice to 🙏🏽♥️
Damn Chris didn't respond
The way she described her relationship with her son, being on the deep end of love, reminded me of my relationship with my mom. I miss her so much.
Amazing child and amazing parents.
Oh that's so sad about him dying. I knew all he had done even in that iron lung.
When I see these ones with the kids trapped in their body but still full there, nuralink can't come fast enough
Yes that man was amazing. God bless him 🙏 ❤. His body's whole again in heaven with the lord!!
He was interviewed on SBSK!
Paul Alexander passed in March of 2024, he was 78 and a genuinely wonderful human.
He epitomized inspirational.
I worry we will may see more people confined to iron lungs in the future.
Let’s hope not 🙏
I can't believe how smart and mature he is for 11! Also, mom is beautiful!
11!! His body is tiny but by his vocabulary and intellect are that of an adult. I hope all Lincoln’s wishes come true. He has a brilliant mind.
I'm really impressed with dad's translation; you can tell this is so helpful for Lincoln. God Bless!
If adults thought like this wonderful boy, the world would be more beautiful ❤️
Exactly what I was thinking, we could learn a thing or two from this kid!
Lincoln is eleven years old? So smart and mature! And what amazing parents! Thank you for sharing your life. I have no doubt you will get your accessible shower.
I wish him and his family the best.
Lincoln, I am 50 years old and the maturity and intellect you have acquired in your 11 years is absolutely astounding!
You definitely have the world’s best parents!
Anyone would be truly blessed to be your friend.
I have learned more from you in this 28 minute video than I have in all of my years of reading countless books and videos about life.
You have so much wisdom to share with this world. I look forward to all of your future endeavours!
His dad being the perfect translator for him is so awesome. What a good team
I see that approximately 100,000 of us have already watched this video. How wonderful it would be if each person could give $1 and help make their special shower a reality.
Lincoln is phenomenally articulate, his dad is a pro at translating for him. What a beautiful team they make, and his love for/with his mum, is just adorable! Lincoln, I know you know how special you are, I am just sorry for the fact that you rely on so many outside factors just for your day to day living. You’re a really special kid, you’ll do big things!
Teaching me a thing or two, that’s for sure.
He does big things everyday, just living his life👍! He is simply amazing! I hope he sets big goals for himself, because God has a great purpose for him🙌🏻!
Chris I'm in italian father who lives in Spain and has a kid with special needs. I want to thank you for the job you makes which gave me another point of view during one of the darkest moment of my life. Your work is such an inspiration, as for this video. Lincoln buddy we are all together with you. Hang on little man you and your beautiful mum and dad.
My friend’s son has just been diagnosed with this incredibly rare disease soon after birth and Lincoln’s story has brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful soul and wonderful family.
You got it Lincoln, I will be kinder to those around me. Thanks for sharing your story
with us. ❤ bless this family.
This is a cool young man. He's so patient with his parents translating for him. Just the head nods when they get things right is awesome.
The more I watched the video, the easier it became to read his lips. It’s so important to put the effort in and try to adapt to someone else’s communication needs! The simple act of paying attention to his face for a little bit made it much easier by the end of the video to pick up on his words. You seem like an awesome guy, Lincoln! Thank you for forcing your mom to reach out to Chris for you 😊
Yes I noticed that too! At first I was confused as to how they were interpreting but why the end I was translating myself 🥹 incredible!
I’m a nurse in the medical field, I have been watching these videos now for years! This is so important. I share this channel and videos with all my coworkers and patients. I think in life loneliness comes to all of us, what you have done Chris is created connections. ❤
Lincoln, you are so very incredible. I hope sharing your story brings you so much love and joy and connection. Just know that for others you are hitting goals they are still working on! You are their inspiration! ❤
I served in the Infantry and I can assure you kid, you are one of the toughest people on this planet. A symbol of pure strength.
Let's get you that shower and more.
Some of the best jobs are more sedentary style just fyi so never lose hope.
I see you programming awesome video games, flying in an air-limousine and/or being a top tier youtuber in your near future.
I don't comment often on your videos, but I truly enjoy watching them. I could not stop smiling watching this video, seeing his deep connection with his parents and his personality shine through. ❤
Salutations Lincoln from Hamburg, Germany. It was a privilege to hear about your journey. Happy New Years buddy!
I didnt realize how soon this was posted, but this kids family makes me hopeful about the world again
Hi Lincoln! I love that you reached out to be on this show. Sharing your story is so helpful for others who have never had any interaction with the disability community. Thank you so much for opening up about your life to us.
Seems like a cool guy to me
🕶️✨
He's just a chill guy
Tutututu tu tu tuu 🎶🎵

As a christian I want to bless you, your family and frends ❤
Lincoln you are a very beautiful human with extremely beautiful Parents. Today I'm especially pleased to meet you and learn from you. I woke up feeling badly about something that lives in the kiddie pool. After watching you and your Mom swim in the deep end, I reflected and dove in. Life can only be as bad as you let it most times. Thank you for allowing me to change perspective and turn my frown upside down. Blessings to you all.
This young man is a kind soul. His love for his parents, friends and family shine through. His parents have done a fantastic job in such difficult circumstances and raised a thoughtful young man. It was lovely to meet this family. Im sure this young man could write a book, hes so good with his thoughts. I wish them all well.
ITs really awesome how his dad and mom helps him communicate so effectively. That's a really close bond, and he seems like a really thoughtful kid.
He's got some awesome rings! Also side note, but thank you for treating them like humans. Not some child who cant think for themself.
Like many other disabled person I meet on this Channel, Lincoln reminds me that this world is so lacking in love, kindness, open-mindedness and benevolence… Thank you Lincoln for being this messenger. Thanks to you, Lincoln❤I Hope to be a better person and I am certain others will be too
WHAT A boy. Really smart. He speaks like a grown man
Oh man! He is so intelligent. When he said he was so inspired by Chris as he was bringing attention to our community hit me. What a wonderful, kind hearted, young man. Definitely wise beyond his years. Very empathic. His parents did an awesome job ❤❤
Incredibly mature and introspective for an 11 year old. Awesome young man
He speaks like an adult!
Lincoln is wise beyond his years. My gosh what a smart guy.
Hi Lincoln! Love that we got to meet you!
Yes! like a old soul
Lincoln, you are amazing! I wish I could meet you but unfortunately I live in the UK.
My son is also special, he has very different needs to you but he is reliant on me or others who know him well to help him to communicate.
Well done, Mum & Dad. You're raising a wonderful young man ❤
Lincoln you are definitely an old soul and a great gift ❤
Lincoln has gorgeous hands. I don’t know who does his nails but they’re honestly goals
And his rings too! He has style.
I admired his beautiful hands whole time.
Thanks u saw them too
Lincoln is a brilliant young man. I am so impressed by the eloquence of his speech. He is definitely an old soul ♥️.
Are you sure he's only 11 years old?? He is so smart and wise beyond his years!! What a kind and loving young man Lincoln is ❤
Both the guy and his parents seem like such incredible, thoughtful, loving people
Wow! Lincoln is such a wise young man. He has a very bright future ahead of him. He is much wiser than a LOT of kids his age. Love really is the key to living a fulfilling life. When I was age 29 (I'm 37 now.) I had a near death experience and learned that love IS the meaning of life. Lincoln seems to have this figured out at 11 years old. He is truly a blessing on this earth! I wish him and his wonderful family all the best!
He is SOOOOOOOOO intelligent for his age. His father and him share such a beautiful loving bond. I’m blessed and honored Infot to know him today! ❤❤❤❤❤
☕️ 4 You . 🫵🪨 Love you Chris. And, to all the interviewees. Y’all rock too. You all offer hope to this world. This is the rawest content I watch, the love that a parent has for their child, is indescribable. It’s so good to see, I’ve laughed, cried, hearing stories the interviewees have told. I find myself watching your channel almost daily. It does something good for my soul. From the bottom of my heart thank you all 🙏
God Bless this young man!!!!! I work with people with many disabilities and I swear they are the most purest, beautiful souls on this planet and I am soooooooooo beyond happy to love them up everyday. I am blessed to have them in my life for they make me see life in a different perspective and keep me grounded!!! We love you Lincoln and good job mom and dad!!! God Bless yall ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Shalom from Israel! I'm wishing Lincoln a refuah sheleimah, a neis, a happy and long life to 120. 😊
Lincoln you seem so opinionated and well-spoken. I love your personality!
Lincoln!!!
We are paying attention. 🤗 thank you!!
You are amazing and thank you for sharing your story.
I am soooo grateful for this channel. I know, when comments where turned off, it felt horrible. It is so nice to be able to communicate here! Lincoln and his family are amazing. I wish them only the best!
I have really enjoyed this young Man.What a smart and handsome young man.I learned alot , thank u for Sharing!!❤❤❤❤
Hey Lincoln! Auntie Shari is sooo proud of you. You're brilliant, but I already know that ❤

Love you sweet Lincoln. May God bless you and your family.❤
Mom’s speech in the end was beautiful. I’m crying
Wow Lincoln. You have to be one of the most inspiring people I have ever seen on the Internet or in life in general. You are so incredibly intelligent and strong, especially for an 11 year old! I’m actually just in awe at the level of maturity and wisdom you displayed that is so beyond your years. Thank you for showing your story Lincoln, you should be so proud of the many lives you have touched by doing this. Much love, I’ll always remember this ❤❤❤
Hi Lincoln, it's really nice to meet you and your family 🥰💌
You are inspiration. Special Books by Special Kids, Lincoln and his parents, you all are amazing and so strong that others could learn from you a lot. Thank you. I wish you all only the best.
I think it’s so cool that Lincoln and I both spend time thinking to ourselves when we wake up in the morning. It’s something I’ve done since I was little. As a baby, I was nicknamed “The Thinker”.
What an intelligent, funny, & strong 11 year old! & he is so kind❤️❤️ him & his family deserve all the happiness & good in the world

Lincoln and his family and his nurses are amazing God bless them ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This is easily one of my favorite interviews on the channel. I could listen to Lincoln for HOURS! He's very sharp, very in-touch, and has an incredible vocabulary for his age. I was really surprised to hear that he doesn't like reading or writing classes. His questions for Chris were also compelling.
Lincoln, you are an incredible person in a beautiful family. I hope life continues to go well for you, and I really hope we can see you on the channel again some day!
What a smart young man Lincoln is. Hope he gets to spread his kindness and intelligence with the world more. Love from Holland❤
Mad respect to parents! The way you interact with your child is sooo full of love and care that it opened my heart just watching you! And your sweet boy Lincoln is full of wisdom and kindness. What a teacher! What a family you are! The world has something to learn from you all. ❤ Sending you so much love! And thank you for sharing your story. 💖🤗🙏🏻

You truly are an amazing young man Lincoln, wise and generous way beyond your years. I wish you and your family luck, love and happiness for many many years to come. You are incredible!
Absolutely amazing how well Lincoln's parents understand him. The love in this family is so heartening. You are all so lovable.
