With me social interaction just didn't come natural, because of the autism. With Ruby it's because of how people treat her because of how she looks and probably her diverse daily energy level. Honestly can’t believe she’s only twelve. She’s more articulate in expressing herself than many adults I know. And her questions. So clever. Ruby you could really go places in the world!

Being 12 is such a tough time. Kids are really just starting to truly develop empathy and many haven’t yet. I know Ruby will find people her age that will invite her everywhere soon!
This has always been the way of the world, long before personal computers and social media. Social pressure to conform, and to be uplifting and pleasant is part of being human. Men especially have long been conditioned to hide their feelings and emotions.
Ruby seems like a deep thinker with a kind heart. I think she should write some of her thoughts, or maybe a book some day. If she is this bright at 12, imagine what she will be like as an adult? I'm so thankful that she is surrounded at home by people who love her.
Ruby is FAR more introspective than some full blown adults I've met. That lonely place will heal in time if she continues cultivating that great head on her shoulders and doesn't let the "ideals" of others weigh her down. If those around her can't see her, there are so many other's that will! Don't compromise your roots Ruby! You have some strong roots that will get you far.
Ruby needs to do some interviews on your channel Chris. She is so wise, such a great communicator and asks such good questions. You’re right this is a crazy world Ruby, which is why we need grounded, perceptive people like you in it.
Ruby, I can only imagine wanting to be seen as an “average” 12 yr old girl, as you stated. But Ruby, there is nothing average about your great intelligence (socio-emotional, verbal, etc), the deep and unconditional love your family has for you, and the special relationships you’ve built with your family members. Nothing average at all. All extraordinary.
One of the most tragic aspects of this story is that because of people's attitudes, this beautiful and intelligent young lady has no idea just how amazing and special she is. Ruby is already an incredible person, and she is going to grow up to be an exceptional adult. Even back when I was her age, I would have gladly been friends with her. And not just because she might be "special" or "different", but because she is an awesome person.
When Ruby asked what Chris would say to someone who watched this video just to make fun of her, it really hit me how brave all these interviewees are to let themselves be vulnerable to this sometimes mean world of the internet. You’re an eloquent and wise person, Ruby. I wish this world could have been kinder to you so you didn’t have to grow up so fast. I’ll work hard to try and make that world possible for you and others.
Tara, that was very kind and thoughtful of you to say. I'm right there with you to help pave the path for others like Ruby. This interview really touched me.
Yeah that really bothered me too and the whole feeling of not fitting in, yes it's normal that teenagers feel that way but this poor kid is probably so Amplified by the way people are judging her. Thinking that intellectually she has so many problems when really she's so so intelligent and has such Ducks. I think that kids her age might struggle to relate to her because she's ahead of them not behind I think they're misconstruing this by never giving her a chance and bothers me. I think it's really heartbreaking that so many of these kids bear their emotions and their souls in this interview and they feel like that it is really Brave to come forward and talk about it
probably one of my favorite interviews thus far. Ruby is incredible in every way. Very aware, intelligent, well spoken, funny and beautiful inside and out. She is far better than anyone at school i know that's for sure. She deserves so much and more
I think Ruby should try journaling about her feelings too. She is really intelligent and well spoken. What an awesome girl, I’d be her friend and I think she is super amazing!
Ruby, I know when people judge you for your differences it hurts, but honestly, though no one ever wants to feel that pain, everybody does... for one reason or another. I got picked on because of my name, because I was a bit chubby, kind of quiet, and even because I was smart... some kids are just so insecure they have to bring others down to boost their sad little egos. I had a classmate who was physically beautiful but insecure and unfriendly, so had no real friends. I understand for you it may not feel this way but it isn't just what you look like, it's who you are that will make worthy friends. Your family is right, love yourself for who you are and don't worry about pleasing everybody or your differences ...the people who are worth your time will appreciate you for who you are, not just what your surface is! I just wanted to tell you if I wasn't old enough to be your grandmother I would love to be your friend! When we're young we want to be the clone of our peers, but when we are older, it's our differences that are so beautiful, and you certainly are, I think you are adorable and bright, and you should too!
Ruby, I thimk you are very beautiful to look at. Your skin is lovely, your eyebrows are perfectly shaped, your hairline around your forehead is very flattering and your eyes are pretty. You are a natural beauty with dark rosy lips and your cheeks have a rosy glow that no make-up could create. I know that these things aren't supposed to be important but I want to tell you them anyway. I was very self conscious about my appearance when I was growing up. I focussed entirely on my differences and flaws. It was only when I was thirty years old that I learnt to love and appreciate the beauty within my appearance. Darling girl, you have so much beauty. Not only on the outside , but inside too. You, as a twelve year old, have more wisdom than I will ever be able to aspire to. I pray God's richest blessings for you and your wonderful mum, dad, brother and grandmother.
When Ruby turns the questions on Chris and Chris knocks it out of the park with the truth! What it looks like when two wise people from different generations have a conversation ☺️
I just sent my email to Ruby. I'm speechless over how deeply this young lady thinks as a 12 year old. The term "old soul" comes to mind. I wish I could go back in time and be Ruby's friend. Chris, please follow up with Ruby with more videos in the future. I'm in love with the whole family.
I had the same thought about “old soul”. I teach 8th grade & for a 6th grader she is so wise & emotionally intelligent. Ruby, you are awesome & beautiful! 💕😊
@@MsGoldenSmiles Yes, even though they were challenged and concerned for Ruby when she was born, they stepped up and stayed positive and committed to her life. It didn't shatter the family, it strengthened it.

Protect this girl at all costs, the world needs more people like Ruby. Kids can be horrible, but I'm sure that when she gets a little older she'll make great friendships.
This child has got me crying. Ruby's got more heart, sense and thoughtfullness than people five times her age. What a beautiful person. You're amazing, kid!
Ruby, you are an incredibly wise young lady. Your family and friends love and appreciate you so much. You have a beautiful soul and you've captured what is really important in this life. Thank you for being transparent, I admire your courage and between my many tears I've learned so much from you.

Ruby is just too precious. She's so introspective, emotionally intelligent, funny, and incredibly smart. Anyone would be SO lucky to have Ruby as a friend!
If she struggles now, she's going to be the most popular girl in college for sure 🙂 intelligence is particularly valued in higher education, and kids have matured into young adults that see past cosmetic nonsense.
I hope when Ruby turns 18 there will be a follow up because she is going to do amazing things. What a wise young woman. And the love within this family, we could all be so lucky.
This kid won the lottery with her family. I’m so happy she has this support system. If more people did, we’d all be happier. I wish all parents would be this devoted.
@@_corona_60 just look at the overall message, it's a great one. We can use "that" for a person physically far from us, internet does make such testimonies available (watching this from Africa) but it doesn't erase the distance.
She actually kinda took over his interview when she turned the questions back on him! She is such a great kid! Sometimes I wish we lived in a world that was blind. And it is only getting worse with social media. This girl will go far she is a sharp kid!
"You have to act not yourself just to make other people happy"- she just said the most poignantly accurate description of social media I have ever heard in my life. I love this girl!!
I hope she knows that she is Not the only young person who is awkward and has issues in school making friends. She's a rock star as far as I think !!! I'd be her friend if I was her age.
Blown away by her intelligence particularly emotional intelligence. She possesses an awareness and an eloquence that most do not, even if they’re “normal” and she is not. She may look different, she may be different, but she is beautiful. I think it’s also worth noting that even a lot of “normal” folks feel the same way she does. It’s perfectly normal to feel insecure, especially as a teenager (especially now a days with the illusory perception of beauty caused by social media and digital editing). Ruby is stronger and more beautiful than they will ever be.
I think Ruby is smart way beyond her years and I would not be surprised if I would read reports about her 20 years from now that state that she was saving lives as a surgeon, or transforming lives as a motivational speaker. Stay strong, Ruby, you are AWESOME!!!
I can see myself in Ruby. I also don’t know my diagnosis. I was tested for Down syndrome, Turner syndrome, Noonan syndrome, Sickler syndrome and Osteogenesis imperfecta but no. I’m now 48 and still don’t know my diagnosis. It’s hard not to fit in or have others who have the same diagnosis to share things with. Ruby you are such a clever girl and I hope for you to find lots of friends and I hope the doctors can find a diagnosis. To mom and dad - don’t give up. Keep searching. Lots of love from Denmark 🇩🇰
Ruby has such a great head on her shoulders. We shouldn’t see past our differences, we can acknowledge them but we shouldn’t be excluded for our physical differences. She asked a LOT of great questions. I’d think she would make a great journalist. Edit: as I wrote this as I was watching. Some of what Ruby has I also have, including agenesis of the corpus callosum and a lipoma. I don’t have muscle on my left upper face so my left eye doesn’t really open, I use my cheek to open and close that eye.
I like what you said about not seeing past differences, but to not exclude based upon those differences, that’s a really good way to put it Penny. Everyone has a story to tell and something to offer, and today you offered me some wisdom ✌🏻👍🏼
Such a old soul in this pre teen. She is so compassionate and caring for anyone who has grown up with a disability. Stay the sweet young lady you are now.
I work in some branch of entertainment media and believe me, people in their 40’s, 50’s and even 60’s behave exactly like stupid, judgmental cruel children and they’re so embarrassingly ridiculous but they’re praised and encouraged to keep these dynamics functioning at work. Such hypocrites, they’re despicable and they behave just like spoiled kids being superficial in social media. I wish everyone had even 1% of her humility and maturity.
....No way!!- She's 12?!? Ruby has more maturity in her than I have seen in most 20-something year olds!! I would be ABSOLUTELY honored to sit down and have a conversation with her. She is one lovely little girl who definitely doesn't act so little. She needs to be aware of how beautiful she is with that heart of gold she's got! Definitely sending an email to this precious soul as soon as I finish the video 🤗💞🙏🏼
Everyone is so impressed with her maturity. I am amazed by her composure and attitude but I know sometimes mature kids have just had more life experience and faced hardships that hardened them. I was one of them. Ruby you’re an inspiration and I hope people can get past their prejudices and see you as the amazing person you are.
Ruby: what a lovely, witty, well-spoken, intelligent and beautiful girl you are. Watching this interview brightened up my evening. I experienced similar things during my school years, and I deeply know how miserable and soul-crunching it feels. NEVER forget your worth, your foundation, with or without friends. I’ll be thinking of you, and sending you lots of courage and love 🌻 Love, Marie 💝🍀
I really think that the fact of Ruby doesn`t heave any diagnosis yet, it`s because she is perfectly normal. She`s smart, very conscious about herself, with teenagers worries and wishes. That`s it. I really wish you the best Ruby. You heave a fan right here in Brazil.
It's clear to me that Ruby has 'Beautiful Light Syndrome'. She has all those rare traits that come with this condition including the ability to be an amazingly inspiring human being.
Dang! Only 12 years old... Who's interviewing who? LOL! She's fantastic. She has the BEST family around her. So many people do not have that. What a blessing Ruby is. You are correct Ruby. you are not the average 12 year old. You are far superior! You are just amazing, and you WILL find lifelong friends, who appreciate who you are. God bless.
I think Ruby's beautiful inside and out. She's an extremely smart soul, I feel it would be an honor to know her in person. She's intellectually brilliant!
This young woman’s grace and intelligence touched my heart so deeply. Her empathy and depth are so inspiring. Her honesty and self awareness are truly beautiful. Ruby, you are so very lovely ♥️
it's astonishing that a twelve-year-old can be so aware of their own emotions. a lot of adults don't even know what they are feeling when they're feeling it
I'm totally blown away...she has said some seriously beautiful things that will stick in my mind, like when she was describing how she wants people to understand what it's like to be her "not be inside my body but feel what hatred feels like"...and what an amazing amazing family she has!! ALSO it was so interesting when Ruby was asking Chris such introspective questions
I cried when she said that! What an amazing, mature, person she is, and I feel truly awful that anyone, especially a child, knows what hatred feels like. Ugh. And, I was so impressed with her questions to Chris. So smart!
I would have thought Ruby was in her 20's because her understanding about life at a young age is incredible. Ruby is very intelligent, articulate, well spoken and wise beyond her years.
I’m blown away by Ruby’s intellect, humor, and wisdom at her age. I feel like she could start her own RUclips channel called “Rubys Ramblings” and all types of people would love to listen to her insights! Mom, dad, and Grandma are doing a phenomenal job raising her, too. ♥️ Beautiful people
This is the channel I go to when I need to restore some of my faith in humanity. Just these videos and all these people sharing their perspective, that pure human-to-human interaction and care people can show each other, the kindness that exists in our core despite everything... It's a good reminder to not give up, it's inspiring and I bet all these people you've met have inspired others through your videos.
This was an emotional one for me. Remember Ruby is a normal girl who is intelligent, funny, thinks and feels the same as everyone else. She just looks different but should not be treated different. I gooe Ruby finds friends who appreciate her for who she is because she seems like an amazing little girl❤
I really love how Ruby just turned the interview around at one point and just started interviewing Chris. And her questions are really good, well phrased and thought out. Like I am amazed because shes just 12 years old and has a real talent for asking great questions. And I don't mean like the questions in an everyday conversations, but questions in these kind of interview settings, that make the other person give great answers. Like I think she could be a great journalists at one point. I studied Journalism so when I listen to interviews I always pay attention to the way they ask questions, and I think being able to ask great questions is a real talent and not something everybody can do. So if you read this at some point Ruby, I think you could become like a really great journalist one day.
Ruby is amazing! I can’t believe she’s only 12. She is so mature. If I was in 6th grade I’d be proud to be her friend. I hope people wise up and see what they’re missing, a wonderful person. There is soo much love in that family, it’s so heartwarming to see that.
I wish I was 12 again just to be her friend. I didn't have many friends growing up and 6th grade made it more challenging to find friends, especially at a new school and when kids were picking on me. One or 2 of them went as far as stealing my new jacket I had just bought with my birthday money. Ruby seems awesome, honest, amazing, and smart.
The emotional maturity that Ruby shows at her young age is exceptional. I was so impressed by how she expresses herself & tells stories. She is extremely wise beyond her years.
I'm so impressed too I feel like we all have a lot to learn from her, she is going to grow into an amazing woman and she is going to do big things, people like her will change the world for the better

A wise heart. A captivating interview. Without Ruby, without this video, we would have much less a sense of what is important and what is the true worth of people. I know I am going to be far less judgemental today. Imagine thousands more who listen to Ruby doing the same thing. You are changing the world for the better.
I’m 100% “typical” and can relate to a lot of what she’s saying and feeling. Friendships are not easy. Lasting connections are even harder. Not being judged is impossible. I’ve been the outcast. I, too, often feel lonely and have pretended to smile for the comfort of others. Dear Ruby, Complete acceptance is a nice idea, but it’s not necessary. Happiness and fulfillment will happen for you, regardless, because no one has control over that except you, and you will learn there’s no one better to give it to you, than yourself. Never dilute yourself down, or sweeten yourself up, to make people comfortable..hoping that’ll get everyone to like and accept you. You are not meant for everyone. Not everyone should have access to you, or the spaces you keep your thoughts and love in. Live and breathe the entire truth that is you; your tribe WILL find you. Accept and love yourself, first and always. You aren’t a mistake, nothing needs to be fixed, or explained. You are the one and only Ruby. People learn faster by example - make sure you’re growing in a way that shows them they need to put some respect on that name. You don’t need to convince anyone of how awesome you are, Miss. Ruby. They damn sure need to prove their worth to you, though. You’re not meant for everybody, or just anybody. Remember that. 🌻❤️
Ruby, YOU ARE INCREDIBLE! What a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL young woman (at only 12 years old!) you are and that goes for your entire family! What a blessing to have “met you” via this video!
Wow. I almost wish I was 12 years old again just to have a friend as wonderful as you. Some of the greatest people have survived difficult years being ostracized. I nearly didn’t survive my own junior high days. If anyone sees the real Ruby, they will find an obviously golden friendship, rare and lasting and beautiful. You are a gift to this world and so appreciate you sharing who you are with the world!
"I'm just a girl who really just wants someone to understand her" that hit differently. To be understood is the most precious feeling in the world I think.
Awesome idea💡
This is a great idea. Ruby would do fabulous interviewing Chris's guests.
This is a e really cool idea
Yes. She would be great at Interviewing.
I agree...great idea!! She is wise beyond her years.....very intelligent!😁👍
I love how she flipped the interview and asked Chris great questions that lead to a great discussion.
I noticed that too. And it was a very insightful question. Her mind is amazing at her age.
I totally agree!
She really got him with that too?
Absolutely 🤗
Me too that bit was great she's very clever for her years
Grandmas energy is so lovely! What a fantastic soul
That's what I was thinking too - Ruby will never ve average for all of the reasons you describe. She is way above average!
Perfect. Her nature would have me try and be her friend.
Right there with you on that one!!! I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to be her friend!!!
She knows
Same!
She's strong.
Well said, Tara.
I think it's really heartbreaking that so many of these kids bear their emotions and their souls in this interview and they feel like that it is really Brave to come forward and talk about it
That was a beautiful sentiment Tara! Do we know if she has social media? Or the mom?
@@MalleableMetal1 I think you are right.
probably one of my favorite interviews thus far.
Your as cute as your name 💕
I want to be her friend, too.
She has a wonderful personality and intelligence, this is all I’m seeing
I totally agree!
Seriously. I know adults who aren't half as introspective and emotionally intelligent as Ruby already is.
@@dewilew2137 And many of those who are don't have the tools to even try confronting their problems!
She has so much insight! At 83 I still can’t express myself like she does, an exceptional young lady!
I can’t express how much I agree with your comment.
Ruby is truly exceptional.

@@ardaoguzhan8181 Disrespectful. Get a life kid.
Ruby is extremely self aware and a deep thinker. She is loved so deeply and unconditionally.
Same, here. They are really a phenomenal family.
I had the same thought about “old soul”. I teach 8th grade & for a 6th grader she is so wise & emotionally intelligent.
Ruby, you are awesome & beautiful! 💕😊
Same! This is one amazing family.
@@MsGoldenSmiles Yes, even though they were challenged and concerned for Ruby when she was born, they stepped up and stayed positive and committed to her life. It didn't shatter the family, it strengthened it.
Such a beautiful family! Would love to follow them on TikTok or instagram to stay up to date with them
This precious girl needs to go to a small private school where each child is known and appreciated. My grandchildren go to one and there are many kids with physical differences there. They are accepted and have friends. I hope Ruby finds her group so she can feel how great she is.

She is way too smart to be 12. Well spoken, great demeanor, and honestly relatable
Absolutely shes sunning for her age
Protect this girl at all costs, the world needs more people like Ruby. Kids can be horrible, but I'm sure that when she gets a little older she'll make great friendships.
Ruby is such an amazing person!! Beautiful inside and out!!
This child has got me crying. Ruby's got more heart, sense and thoughtfullness than people five times her age. What a beautiful person. You're amazing, kid!
Amen
Ruby, you are an incredibly wise young lady. Your family and friends love and appreciate you so much. You have a beautiful soul and you've captured what is really important in this life. Thank you for being transparent, I admire your courage and between my many tears I've learned so much from you.

Ruby is a strong young lady you are all so blessed, She will do wonderful things as she continues to grow I feel her strength and love , she's a blessing. ❤
Ruby is just too precious. She's so introspective, emotionally intelligent, funny, and incredibly smart. Anyone would be SO lucky to have Ruby as a friend!
YESS! she’s a gem
I can’t wait for her to meet all the people who are waiting for such an intelligent and evolved friend.
If she struggles now, she's going to be the most popular girl in college for sure 🙂 intelligence is particularly valued in higher education, and kids have matured into young adults that see past cosmetic nonsense.
She is awesome!
I would be honored to call that girl my daughter. And when I was her age I had no friends of such quality. God bless her.
What does "that" suppose to mean (not in a mean way)
Wonderful comment. She's a little star 🥰
@@_corona_60 just look at the overall message, it's a great one. We can use "that" for a person physically far from us, internet does make such testimonies available (watching this from Africa) but it doesn't erase the distance.
Whatever her "syndrome" is, it certainly includes precocious maturity, intelligence and worldly insight. What a delightful treasure of a girl!
She actually kinda took over his interview when she turned the questions back on him! She is such a great kid! Sometimes I wish we lived in a world that was blind. And it is only getting worse with social media. This girl will go far she is a sharp kid!
Those special children are the real future of our world, because they have so many more human qualities as a lot of people around.
💯💯
Well said ♥️
So well said!!!!
Wow, Ruby is extremely smart for her age. Her conversation with Chris felt like one between two adults.
That’s exactly how I felt watching this. She’s so sincere, articulate and introspective.
I’m 48 and if she could be my friend I would be proud. She and her family are amazing. Beautiful people. Hearts of gold.
I think Ruby is smart way beyond her years and I would not be surprised if I would read reports about her 20 years from now that state that she was saving lives as a surgeon, or transforming lives as a motivational speaker. Stay strong, Ruby, you are AWESOME!!!
my thoughts exactly!!!
My thoughts as well 💗
I can see myself in Ruby. Lots of love from Denmark 🇩🇰
elsamarie..you dont need a diagnosis..you are elsa..by the way i just heard your voice its stunning!
you most likely dont have down syndrome I knew a family friend that had it
You literally don't know anything about them. Not every person with DS is the same. Shame on you.
Diagnosis is needed for government assistance and accomodations in school.
Up
Ruby has such a great head on her shoulders.

She’s awesome!! Kids can be so mean :(
They're just mirroring the adults in their life and society
I work in some branch of entertainment media and believe me, people in their 40’s, 50’s and even 60’s behave exactly like stupid, judgmental cruel children and they’re so embarrassingly ridiculous but they’re praised and encouraged to keep these dynamics functioning at work. Such hypocrites, they’re despicable and they behave just like spoiled kids being superficial in social media. I wish everyone had even 1% of her humility and maturity.

"soul-crunching"
What a perfect description of that feeling. I'm sorry that you suffered that, and I feel true empathy. Isn't Ruby an inspiration?!
So impressed by this bright young lady. She’s a future writer with such a beautiful way of putting things.
I immediately thought she’ll write a book someday.
It's clear to me that Ruby has 'Beautiful Light Syndrome'. She has all those rare traits that come with this condition including the ability to be an amazingly inspiring human being.
OMG! My eyes are sweating! You can just feel the love the family has for Ruby! Her spunk and sense of humor is amazing!!! Ruby you made my day!

You worded my thoughts so well !
it's astonishing that a twelve-year-old can be so aware of their own emotions. a lot of adults don't even know what they are feeling when they're feeling it
I'm totally blown away...she has said some seriously beautiful things that will stick in my mind, like when she was describing how she wants people to understand what it's like to be her "not be inside my body but feel what hatred feels like"...and what an amazing amazing family she has!!
♥️ Beautiful people
The bond within this family is stunning.
But this bond is as it should be for every family and every one
This is the channel I go to when I need to restore some of my faith in humanity. Just these videos and all these people sharing their perspective, that pure human-to-human interaction and care people can show each other, the kindness that exists in our core despite everything... It's a good reminder to not give up, it's inspiring and I bet all these people you've met have inspired others through your videos.

I wish I was 12 again just to be her friend. I didn't have many friends growing up and 6th grade made it more challenging to find friends, especially at a new school and when kids were picking on me. 6th grade is tough, making friends during middle school can be hard. You are so smart, loving and wise - wishing you all the best Ruby!
Dear Ruby,
Complete acceptance is a nice idea, but it’s not necessary.
