  • Special Books by Special Kids seeks to expand society's definition of normal by spreading empathy, understanding and acceptance for neurodiverse individuals. What started as an idea for a book series became a multi-media movement when special education teacher Chris Ulmer began sharing stories from his classroom. Now "Mr. Chris" shares how it all started, a few of the touching stories behind his many interactions, and what each of us can do to celebrate the neurodiversity all around us.

But anyway because Utube is a lazy group of idiots who would rather shut down comment sections rather then actually investigate or deal with these pedos. They do this instead. How the heck is this protecting anyone. Especially children. The pedos are still around. A site that promotes understanding and a opportunity for people with differences to have a voice is a good thing. How the heck is removing the comments a safety thing. What next. Nobody is mean't for anything, or at least I doubt that's what Chris wants to push as a motive. He isn't an angel. He's an extremely generous and dedicated professional whose moral compass is in greater alignment than most. He sacrifices his time to prove to the rest of society that they should participate in the lives of those immediately perceived as "different from the norm." He wants you to be the person you're admiring when you said this. Don't think you can't become just as kind or compassionate as he has. If you were to approach someone you wouldn't have prior, he'd feel a sense of accomplishment, as would you. The whole biblical reference sounded prophetic. But, it missed the point of this video and Chris' life work. You can participate in the lives of these individuals as well. You don't need to float down from heaven to approach a person living with a disability. You just have to say Hi.

I recently watched a video where he related how he came to find his calling. It is a series of life experiences and happy accidents that has allowed him to reach so many people in such a socially underserved community. He is a young man and the dialogue he has opened up with and within the special needs (no one term is really suitable) community has only started.

It's so fucking backwards where our society decides to help, turning off his comment section was a poor decision of protection.
There is actions you can do to ban certain words or certain sentences in every comment section that would prevent most trolls from commenting. For instance you can banish the word "stupid" and "retard" and once you put that word in your comment, it won't go through or will be censored.

ISH ish I don’t think he is a psycho. I think he is shy and a bit awkward. And the “psycho stare” (lol) having the same icy blue eyes myself, I’ve caught my reflection off guard in mirrors at times, and I’ve had the exact same look in my eyes. No wonder people think I’m a bitch before they know me 😆 seriously though, having piercing eyes like he does, I think it makes his gaze seem much more intense than what he is.

Ezelllohar Actually that comment is pretty offensive and STUPID in all honesty! So being a helpful and kind man is nothing special UNLESS he's also handsome?? What does that have to do with anything? It's a pretty shallow observation. That's what Felix meant. But you're so quick to judge or to dismiss what he said because you are actually a shallow and ignorant person. It's so funny that women like you will go to "war" with anyone who said anything remotely offensive to women but when you flip the situation and its something offensive towards men, it's actually acceptable!

I have a condition called MDP that only me and 9 other people have in the world. MDP stands for mandibular dysplasia with deafness and progeroid features. MDP is an extremely rare metabolic disorder that prevents fatty tissue from being stored underneath the skin. It doesn’t matter what you look on the outside it matters what is inside you. What would the world be like if everyone was the same, it would be boring. Being different is unique, being different is beautiful, being different isn’t a bad thing, being different makes me special. Being different makes the world a beautiful place. Some people laugh and say things. I know to stay strong and stay positive. I know to stay strong now because even though it is stormy now it never rains forever. I won’t let anyone put me down, I will keep my head held high and I will keep my heart strong ❤️

RUclips: please take the time to talk with Chris to explain the real reason you're disabling comments on his channel. Then, please have an open dialogue with him to find a solution to this issue. I believe Special Books by Special Kids had one the best positive comments on RUclips. The comments go hand in hand with the videos to show everyone that being different is no reason to be rejected. The people featured on Chris channel should be able to read comments telling them that they are loved and accepted. Please don't take that away from them.
