- Part of a new series: an Internet Review Show! (How Original.) In this series, I'll be discussing the history and giving a critical analysis of various adaptations and reimaginations of Lewis Carroll's "Alice" stories; the first six episodes will be posted weekly, starting today, until July 4th, 2019. Any future episodes after that point will be uploaded basically whenever I have the time.

This is all. I hope you enjoy, comrades! :)
I'm laughing about the critics saying that this film's failure was an indication that fantasy films couldn't be a hit... Look where we are now!
When I was really young I fell in love with the 1951 movie even though it was made way before I was born. I went to Blackpool once when I was five and loved the Alice ride in the pleasure beach. And when I scrolled through your channel I fell in love with the analysis in wonderland series, there was so many movies I didn’t even know existed! You have made my love for Alice’s adventures in wonderland and through the looking glass even more! Thank you
(Also I do have the books)
This 1933 version is now my all time favourite. Only just discovered it & watched it 4 times in the last 2 days. It's enchanting & mad! Just perfect.

@@StevieWeevie66 hey! Joshimations new channel from my new phone, I have now watched the 1933 version and I admit it’s wonderful!
This is going to be fascinating
This film is why Walt Disney didn't make a live action-animated hybrid movie his first movie because this one came first (his would've been in 1934) and bombed.
I'll be sure to follow this series, despite the fact I'm not an Alice fan; it's fun to learn new stuff anyway ;) For instance, I didn't know Cary Grant and Gary Cooper had been in an Alice film... seems so odd.
Btw, Tweedldee and Tweedledum look reeeaaally creepy here... :P
Yeah, they REALLY do. Like I said, the whole scene has a weird creepy undertone to it. In fact, a lot of the movie does...which wouldn't be so bad, if it were intentional, and I"m not sure it is.
And yep. Gary Cooper's okay as the White Knight; not one of my absolute favorites, but decent. And again, Cary Grant is possibly my favorite Mock Turtle.
I hope you enjoy the other five I have planned...and any others I do after the fourth. There's a lot of versions I want to talk about, it's all a matter of time. XD
I bet it's gonna be successful that way you could do too 10 on your youtube channel
@@jjhatter3420 what do you think about the 2009 miniseries of Alice in Wonderland?
Analysis in Wonderland suggestions:
Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Fantasy (1976)
Disney's Adventures in Wonderland (1992-9995)
Alice Through the Looking Glass (1998)
Alice in Murderland (2010)
The Other Side of the Mirror [AKA Alice: The Darker Side of the Mirror] (2016)
I recently watched the 1949 Alice in Wonderland, please do a review on this one.
It has a very different beginning than most Alice Films, starting with the university and the three Littles girls waiting for the queen to arrive, also something about a bell.
Please watch
he's a fan of alice in Wonderland
It is one of my favorite films
i used to watch the edited version on tv and as a kid, i thought i was bizarre and fascinating
i think the main problem was trying to meld the two books together....the second problem was that it was in black and white
It wasn't unknown. We past 40 grew up seeing this on free t.v. This was/is popular with the young and fans of the book
I'm only just discovering this take on the Alice stories. Mainly due to a friend of mine gushing over this adaptation's Humpty Dumpty.
Great job.
i gotta be honest looking at it now , I LOVE IT!! but this was the first movie version i ever saw and because of it,.. I GOT TOTALLY CONFUSED!! WHEN I SAW OTHER VERSIONS LATER!! because i wouldn't understand why certain characters weren"t in certain sences in later versions, and the pace of this one WAS VERY CONFUSING!! like at the begining.
I've just been watching Defunctland's run-down of the early 90s Disney channel series Adventures in Wonderland--that might be worth your analysis. Then there's a short from the late 60s/early 70s called "Curious Alice"--a short film that mixes animation and live action to deliver an anti-drug message.
I'll be taking a look at that same video shortly. I've actually been considering an analysis/retrospective of that show, but I haven't figure out quite what to do with it yet, since I wouldn't be able to cover it quite the same way I've covered everything else so far. That show is a personal favorite of mine, however, so you can be darn sure it's on my list of things to cover, somehow and sometime.
@@jjhatter3420 As for the other short I mentioned, you can catch it here: ruclips.net/video/f1fc-h018Uo/видео.html
@@jenniferschillig3768 OH! Missed that. XD I've actually seen it, too; back when I was in High School, I wrote a short skit/play based on that short. It never got off the ground. I have considered covering it, but I don't really know what I'd SAY about it. If I do cover it, it will likely be one of my shorter videos, simply because...well...the subject itself is literally a short subject. LOL
The only problem I ever had with the '33 Paramount ALICE was Charlotte Henry .. & Richard Arlen was miscast .. Louize Fazenda & Edna May Oliver are wonderful, score is very nice
Aw, now I wish I were a Presbyterian and went to that church. The Doctor In Wonderland!!!
It was a fun show. Weird, but fun. :)
Why didn't you review ALL these movies in chronological order?
Because he is a Carroll fan? Things are not logical..
