There are many unique and impressive creature sounds in Subnautica. But more than any other, the Reaper's roar sounds like it wants to kill and eat you.
You should be very proud of this mate, it’s very well made. You really got across the sheer size and power of a Reaper, it can be forgotten that the average size is 55 meters, at least triple the size of a Megalodon.
@SS-rf1riThat’s a perspective issue, like you’ve said freecam gives a more accurate comparison, I’ve done it next to a Reaper’s head and it can easily swallow the player whole. In-game PDA also confirms scanned specimen is 55 meters. It’s canon, sorry. 🤷🏼♂️
"Detected multiple leviathan life forms in the region. Are you sure, whatever you're doing is worth it?" is the scariest thing you can hear in the middle of the night while exploring the depths of 4546B, and how you gave off that vibe is crazy good
That Reaper Leviathan attack was like no other we've ever seen in Subnautica, but I have a feeling that it's way more realistic than what we have in-game right now. This is probably in my top 5 for best Subnautica animations I've ever seen (granted, there aren't a lot of Subnautica animations with this sort of quality, but this is still so impressive). Overall, you did such a great job on this! I agree, with Anthomnia, bravo!
I think the in game version of the attack is a lot more realistic. This version simply swipes at incredibly impossible high speeds like a sword fish. The Reapers main attribute is it's mandibles and high dense muscle of it's body, made exactly to grab and trash around like it does in game, which is much more realistic to how an animal would use it's characteristics, especially with such adaptations. If you watch enough playthroughs of Subnautica you will see some pretty crazy attacks from it. Not saying this version is terrible or impossible or ridiculous, it's a cool fun and different way to experience and look at this creature and how it scares people that it just feels like it's just that dangerous. I am simply enjoying that, but not calling it realistic.
@@raionshishi8290 its good to see other perspectives, personally i see the reaper as more of a stalker type hunter so this felt more fitting and "scary" for me
@@joshuacampbell3d That's totally fair to say, I can see that point of view just as well. My intention was simply looking at it from a scientific and realistic biological factor, all in all it's still good and cool and still realistic. Ambush hunters and stalkers tend to go for 1 hit K.O attacks.

I know some people say they just need a heated blade, stasis rifle, prawn suit or propulsion cannon to not be the hunted. But just think for a minute, bare minimum defense and next to zero offense against ANY large aggressive fauna. You’re just like a worm being dangled on a fish hook for these things, all they need is one good strike.

I really appreciate your take on this! It’s cool to see how this impacts/resonates with different people. Yes, the goal was to capture the experience of a confused/foolish person in a strange environment. Seems a little silly to stare into the distance after hearing a roar like that. Now that I think about it, it seems awfully similar to the official cinematics and lifepod logs, with the operators doing things that appear stupid to a veteran Subnautica player. Definitely not intentional, but I’m happy that people are noticing connections similar to that Thank you for your comment! ❤️

The film is gorgeous to look at, and the dread you feel just before the repear attacks the seamoth is genuinely great. It shows just how much smaller and out of your element you really are. This is extremely underrated, and know you did a fastastic job.
Definitely not intentional, but I’m happy that people are noticing connections similar to that
Thank you for your comment! ❤️
Working on something similar myself, this is huge inspiration and great reference. Amazing job man!
Nice! Hope I see it up sometime
@@joshuacampbell3d Will be up hopefully late this yr, but there's a trailer up on my channel if ur interested
This is so amazing!! I can only imagine the amount of time this took to make!
Thank you! About a month or so I believe
@@joshuacampbell3d amazing job :)
Not many people mentioning how well you made the seamoth move. Since we play the entire game in first person we don't really get to see what our own vehicles look like from the outside, so getting to see how the seamoth whips around its environment is so cool!
@@sinception5034 thank you so much! It really is an elegant little thing isn’t it
10/10 good work man. Seamoth looks great
@@jeremybaxter3722 thank you!!
I’ve Allways wanted a subnautica feature film about the game or Maybye the degasi crew , imagine how sick that would be
if i can ever find the motivation maybe ill get around to it
@@joshuacampbell3d 😎
Wow! This was amazing! Having lost a few seamoths of my own, the pain at the end of watching it sink was real. Lol, it never gets easier. 😅
time to find titanium...
I recently started playing this game and didn't realize giant monster attack you at first. This is the most horrifying game I've ever played 10\10.
@@DrWondertainment821 well, going behind the Aurora is the safest spot on the map, I highly recommend it **cough**
Seriously though, don’t spoil yourself too much! This game is in my top 3 of ones I wish I could play for the first time again, make sure to make some memories in this playthrough
WOW THIS DESERVES WAY MORE ATTENTION
This is already so much more than I expected!
The 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 Is The Scariest Seamonster Ever To Exist.
I think I had a nightmare about it when I was younger 😭
Damn, that's superbly well made
@@SamanthaLaurier I appreciate you! ❤️
Wow that is so well done
Thanks!
Cinematic masterpiece.
I personally think reapers are one of the scariest laviathans in the game purely because of their scream and presence alone.
Agreed, ghost leviathans aren’t as scary, crabsquids are pretty bad though, personally
@@joshuacampbell3d Crabsquids are pretty annoying. Not too scary too me, but certainly annoying.
I loved this, good stuff seriously :)
