Glad to see you making a spectacular video essay about this ARG! Aside some of the most headaches and not supportive comments here, I just wanna say that im hoping this series come back because im been following it from a very long time.
Personally- I'd swap out the regular Sanity Mod and replace it with Manic. That is a way cooler way of implementing Sanity into Minecraft without adding several unkillable monsters that you have to sit stationary for a couple of minutes just to make go away. And then they come back as soon as you start playing the Game- Manic just makes loosing your mind alot more fun and still adds creepy and cool monsters whenever your Sanity does reach a low level. Don't even need to really interact with the data pack itself just have it on in the background-
Like the beginning of the cave dweller was really cool new and refreshing but like imagine a horror mod where you dont know anything about it and also most people dont know anything about it.
Small correction: Reading through the special thanks section of the mod page lead me to see a special thanks to the creator of the Midnight Lurker mod for helping Caz “Customize the Lurker mod” which… implies things. Mostly that the Midnight Lurker mod is in some form or another in this modpack. I can’t check for sure because I literally opened up the modpack for myself to disable the sanity mod and found literally ZERO mod files, but that mod is PROBABLY in there somewhere. And with changelogs like “Added something to fear”, “Be careful”, “Updated a mod you don’t need to know about” (Note that the Herobrine mods AREN’T censored like this), and an update LITERALLY called “The Nightmare Update”, I think there’s something else to this.
Ive been playing the modpack and holy shit the experience is one of a kind. The mix of fun nostalgia mixed with the overarching sense of dread made the experience legitimately terrifying. My first herobrine encounter took my soul out of my body.
I also like how "Luft Matte" has almost a subtle Nu Metal sound with the drums. This is probably due to Nu Metal being wildly popular in the mid to late 90s and early 2000s.
I genuinely didn't notice that until now but I do hear it. I think it has to to with the drumming being very groovy and repetitive, I don't think it was intentionally meant to give that vibe but I absolutely love this observation

The thing I love about this mod over other minecraft horror mods is how it doesn’t try to be scary. Or rather it doesn’t have to try to be super scary. The loneliness and the low graph give an atmosphere of paranoia as you can’t tell if what you are staring is a monster or just a door to your house. And sure it has creepy structures and monsters but they aren’t always up against you trying to kill you, the player is given time to breathe which is both good because the player doesn’t have to worry 24/7 but it is the calmness that helps make the scary part eerie, after all you don’t want the calm to end! But it could end at any time!
wasnt it possible to use campfires to cure sanity? they should be in this version of the game (i think) and after playing a lot of fear nightfall it was our go to method of curing sanity

It also says how Notch's sister was the one to help him with learning to program after his father taught him how to, not Herobrine in this instance. Lots of small things that make this whole mystery feel very vivid.
idk what version had "the slip" since I played just before they added the Nether, obsidian portals didn't do anything at that point, then the halloween update came in Alpha and we had The Nether. it wasn't called The Slip, and stuff was called Nether Stone, Lightstone, and stuff like that.

NGL I’m really sad this wasn’t gonna be a homebrew recreation of one of the very early versions of MC.
Glad to see you making a spectacular video essay about this ARG! Aside some of the most headaches and not supportive comments here, I just wanna say that im hoping this series come back because im been following it from a very long time.
same
If you click on the Mojang logo on the title screen you can access a secret multiplayer server for the modpack
Personally-
I'd swap out the regular Sanity Mod and replace it with Manic.
That is a way cooler way of implementing Sanity into Minecraft without adding several unkillable monsters that you have to sit stationary for a couple of minutes just to make go away.
And then they come back as soon as you start playing the Game-
Manic just makes loosing your mind alot more fun and still adds creepy and cool monsters whenever your Sanity does reach a low level.
Don't even need to really interact with the data pack itself just have it on in the background-
When I played this pack the "entity" was a lot more like the cave dweller with an overlay of dead steve. I have a video on my channel with it at 1:45.
Just a heads up, if you want to fix the End bug where you cant beat the game, just remove the mod savage ender Dragon and that should fix the fight
Like the beginning of the cave dweller was really cool new and refreshing but like imagine a horror mod where you dont know anything about it and also most people dont know anything about it.
The problem with Cave Dweller style mods is that it only really works once, in a game that can be played endlessly. This is worse with the copycats
@@notoriousgoblin83 yeah there are too many copycats like the cave dweller needs to be more adaptive
I couldn't imagine how long you took to make this video, but I'm here for it
@E-ReportNewsNetwork-n7m shut up fool
I'm so glad you made a detailed video about this. I was getting into this edition myself a month ago and this long video essay is just what I needed.
Took a second to realize why you used 1,000,000 of all songs at 41:51 but once I did it got a good laugh out of me.
I mean a song from "the slip" while we transition into "the slip" seemed really fitting =)

I haven't finished the video yet, but I'm so happy you covered Minecraft PSX Edition! Easily one of my favorite modpacks, considering I'm a sucker for creepypasta stuff and it's Vanilla+. Sure it isn't perfect, but I think it accomplishes what it sets out to do and more. It even inspired me to make my on spooky modpack (still working on it).
Minecraft: PSX gets a big thumbs up from me.
Oooo good luck with making your own modpack I hope you don't run into too many technical issues lol
NES Minecraft when?
terraria in '88
I'm a little late to this but I just went and watched this with the gf, the video was awesome man, loved every second of it, maybe I oughta bring the ARG back sometime 🤔
Yes
@@xKazIsKoolx I’ve been thinking about it for a while, I just don’t wanna force myself into it, I hate that my motivation for projects I love swings in and out
@@RexifyYT I can relate lmao
41:51 as a HiFi Rush fan i got unreasonably excited right here lol
32:03 MCSX doesn't use From the Fog, since FtF isn't ON 1.18. Instead, it has 2 other Herobrine Mods
I use those in addition to FTF
@@xKazIsKoolx OH

the man the myth the legend himself
wasnt it possible to use campfires to cure sanity? they should be in this version of the game (i think) and after playing a lot of fear nightfall it was our go to method of curing sanity
I was convinced he had no idea the minecraft ps1 edition was a mod and thought it was real. My gawd. He got me.
Daggz, there’s a new DOORS-like horror game on Roblox called Pressure, with a similar style gameplay but with a ton of stuff added to it. Please make a video on it. Maybe it can be another Roblox Horror update video with DOORS: Floor 2 coming later this month!
You’ll never guess this
@@SkateBoardingCow695 Yeah Ik
what the hell?! wheres the obligatory home resonance in MY video essay?!!?
2:11:52 sixth? Notch is actually 2 people?? That's some really crazy lore

To anyone wondering, the modpack has a mod that forces you into Steve, if you want to play with your own skin then all you have to do is take out the mod from the mod folders
18:58 I watched that playthrough as a kid… I feel so old now 18:58 ☹️
The creepiest part about the trailer video isn’t what’s missing, it’s what’s still in it. In one of the final shots of the trailer irl, and in the PSX trailer, Steve is stood on a cross.
Dude seeing Herobrine’s Mansion on the title screen threw me back. That’s awesome. Also the Enderman having green eyes again is such a nice touch.
2:15:40 Don’t forget he also somehow either recorded audio from a dream Alex had or forcefully woke Alex up in the middle of the night and whispered in his ear IN REAL LIFE.
Damn, youtubers be doing anything to stretch the video to 20 minutes
This mod is still my favorite horror mod of all time. It’s like being a paranoid schizophrenic on ecstasy who’s also tripping on Minecraft nostalgia
really hope that the creator releases the 2.0 update
this modpack is great, but the flaws make it kinda unfun (what kind of completed, fully released game doesn’t even let you beat the final boss? this isn’t tmnt on the nes lol)
If you join the server you can get early access to 1.9.8
1:39:32 that's an alien absolutely killing it with beatboxing smh
Something about the thought of Minecraft in the 90’s has me feeling a bit nostalgic for the play station (2 as i wasn’t born in the 90’s)
I can just hear the sound of that disk spinning in my mind
oh goddamn, it's a 2 hour dagger video, naicu naicu
Silly dargz Minecraft was never on the ps1
If you didn't know the nether was named the slip in the old version of minecraft the nether have three name changes first hell next the slip now the nether there fun fact
I don’t care I saw this earlier on Patreon last week, I’m seeing this AGAIN!!
In the files of the modpack there is a mem card 2 folder which actualy us where the unknown worlds are from and rheres even more worlds we havnet seen that can be played
This is the first Minecraft Horror Mod I think got the point, early Minecraft was already unsettling just double down on that
Happy that you're channel been monetizable again!👍
having 1,000,000 by nin start playing when talking about the slip was actually genius
Just noticed another small detail at 2:08:32 when you discuss the master bedroom: the mother's pair of shoes is missing on her side of the bed, implying she no longer lives there. This is actually the opposite of what happened in our timeline, as it says on the Wikipedia page that his father left to live in a cabin out in the countryside. It also says how Notch's sister was the one to help him with learning to program after his father taught him how to, not Herobrine in this instance. Lots of small things that make this whole mystery feel very vivid.
As far as I remember my time playing ps1 it had pretty good audio capabilities, especially given the time.
i played this modpack, sadly the shader caused all lightsources to not work, the only way i could see was if there was sunlight
Im so happy to see a video like this based on my favorite modpack. I wish there were more videos about this pack. Nice video
The aria math remix is just so good
Looks like RUclips rolled out that "torturous amount of ads" feature
idk what version had "the slip" since I played just before they added the Nether, obsidian portals didn't do anything at that point, then the halloween update came in Alpha and we had The Nether. it wasn't called The Slip, and stuff was called Nether Stone, Lightstone, and stuff like that.
Thorough deconstruction, highly enjoyable

I heard the words "2007 Saturn" and thought for a second you were actually going to say my exact car. Mine's an Aura though.
Also, new ARG, do a sponsored ARG. Dragon City, collect many dragons and hatch them! While also sacrificing innocent souls to make them stronger!
