What magnificent, dangerous beasts. I wish we could just leave them alone, instead of further coming into contact with them. We've done enough damage already to their habitat, especially as they've evolved as a species for 130,000 years. So far as the story goes, only Matt first and Reg later knew they were being hunted - surprising given you'd think such a bright, educated bunch with a wealth of outdoor experience would've had good insticts for this reason. If Matt knew he was being hunted (perhaps the bear could smell his fear above the others?), why didn't he keep watch for his own sake? Reg's actions saved his life. What an experience. And brave of Matt to return.
