I forgot to ask you back then if you experienced any bleed through or show through with either the fountain pens or technical pens you used in this book. I have one of these in landscape format with this paper.

Firstly, I love your drawings, and your use of colour. Thanks for your thoughts on the product. Secondly, great review! I have the blue journal, vertical format, still in its packaging, waiting to be used. I offered it to my son this morning, for his travels in the coming year. He'll be in New Zealand to work in the wine industry, with luck, and he also plans to visit South East Asia, eventually. I directed him to your channel, for ideas of places to visit. He's more into writing than sketching, but I thought the journal/travel log would be ideal.

This was one or two years after I learn to sketch properly 😁
I have this one (the large portrait version) and since I tried my first one, I never wanted to switch to anything else, even though for me they're quite expensive to import. I work lightly with watercolour, gouache, ink pens and coloured pencils. I also like to add art postcards and such, and my finished journals are quite a bit bigger than usual, but the binding still mostly holds up well.

What is the cheapest but smoothest journal you have used? Regardless of the thickness of the paper?

I just recently bought this sketchbook, will I be able to use watercolor in it?
Yes, just don't use too much water as it is not actually watercolour paper.
Great review! I have gotten 2 of these sketchbooks, but personally for me I have some problems with them. I mainly work with alcohol markers and they feather out way farther than other sketchbooks. I have mixed feelings about the fabric on the cover because stickers don’t stay on and it gets dirty very easily, but also I just like the feeling of the fabric.
can I use alchohol based markers?
Paper is too thin for that. Markers will bleed through
this video was a while ago but i would love if you could tell me how pencil/graphite did on the paper? i’m thinking about purchasing it but haven’t seen any reviews mention other mediums besides pen and watercolour. thank you!
The paper texture is not very different from printing paper. Pencils should work fine, but I don't think you can add too many layers.

Do you first draw with your fountain pen and then color?

I was wondering if you can recommend a watercolor sketchbook that has paper similar to Arches cold press?
There aren't any sketchbooks with paper that's as good as Arches. Maybe the Arches spiral bound sketchbook. Or the Strathmore Watercolor Visual Journal (Spiral bound)
Teoh Yi Chie I didn’t know Arches made a spiral bound. I will look for it. There are some shops on Etsy that sell handmade watercolor journals with Arches ( and other types of WC paper ) .....maybe I will try one of those. Thanks for your reply.

does the sketchbook work with pencil?
Yes. But it's a bit smooth so it is not going to take multiple layers well.
