      MyPetiteCakes I use a Panasonic GH4. Any of the Micro Four Thirds cameras from Panasonic can give very good video quality. The GH2, GH3 and GH4 are the ones with microphone input for better sound. I think there are other Panasonic cameras with microphone input.

    your videos deserve so much more recognition! whenever i want to find a good art review, your videos always pop up! do you have any top suggestions for somewhat beginner watercolourists like me to get an affordable but high quality sketchbook with a lot of pages? you should make a video of your top ten!

      Global Art Materials is good. Some like Moleskine. As for others, you can check out the reviews at www.parkablogs.com/tags/sketchbooks-drawing

      Ok I tried this yesterday and I am torn. The paper I currently use before this one is Arches 300 cold press that I had cut into 5X7 size. I like this new one but don't love it. I guess in my mind I keep wanting to compare it to the Arches, which is not good. Hah. I will keep using it and finish the book. It's good to try new things.

      I couldn’t find this sketchbook on Amazon when I searched for Global Art Materials. At the Speedballart.com website, it says “SPEEDBALL NOW THE OFFICIAL HOME OF GLOBAL ART PRODUCTS”. To find this sketchbook, do a search in Amazon for “Speedball Art 769525 Art Journal”.

    I love the way the book is bound to lie flat, and love the elongated 5.25 x 8.25 format. I bought this a while back, based on your review. But so far, am having a hard time doing subtle graded washes. It's fine working wet on dry with no nuance.

    Hi teoh! Thank you for taking the time to make these reviews. If you had to pick between this travelogue handbook and stillman and birn beta series- used primarily for watercolor- which would you choose? I ordered a small khadi sketchbook on your suggestion and it's on it's way but I also want a large format sketchbook because I am most used to painting large. Thank you!!

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад +4

      I kinda prefer the Travelogue handbook, the one with the watercolour paper. I feel the paper is more suitable for watercolor. Stillman & Birn feels like cartridge paper even though it's thicker.

      Teoh Yi Chie thank you! I just ordered the travelogue!

    Amazing video! I was wondering if the paper would hold other medias like acrylics, pencils and maybe oil paints/pastels? I was looking for a mixed media sketchbook but saw this one and was wondering if this one would be just as good.

    I always appreciate your reviews of products. You’re very impartial and cover the important aspects. My husband gave me the larger square Global Watercolor Journal and I absolutely love it. I’m wondering if you know what brand of paper they use. I prefer to sketch my own sketchbooks and would like to buy this paper in bulk...

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  6 лет назад

      Not sure what paper or brand of paper they use. I only know it's coldpress, 200gsm.

    Wow, I just looked for this sketchbook on the german Amazon page and the prices are awefully high!
    How much did you pay for this?
    I would have to pay at least around 50$ for one book.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  9 лет назад +2

      firecloud It might be cheaper for you to buy from Amazon USA and ship to Germany. I paid USD $17 including shipping (to Singapore).

    Enjoy your videos, very infomative and helpful for beginners like myself, and your sketches are so fun! I recently tried a Stillman & Birn Delta series for light to medium watercolor washes. I found the paper to be very stiff, which is good for not warping and not bleeding thru when using any markers. But I found had was the paper would pil a bit if I tried even some light layering. Any slight rubbing of the brush seemed to also pil the paper and leave snag-looking marks on it. Do you think this Global Arts one is less thick and "cardboardish" than the S&B deltas? Have you experienced any of these problems with this sketchbook? Thanks :)

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад

      +K Mitchell Usually for such sketchbooks, the paper do not have cotton content and if you have too many layers, the paper fiber will start to come off. There aren't many sketchbooks with cotton content watercolour paper.

    can you use markers on those sketch books?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  5 лет назад

      You can. But markers are best used on smoother paper, not watercolor paper.

    and do you know other brands of watercolor paper suitable for dip pens and watercolor?

      +James Barton No problem. For small to tiny sketchbooks, I just draw very simplified sketches since the space does not allow for detail work. The size allows you to bring it anyway and draw any time.

      @teohyc  8 лет назад +1

      +dragonfly4g I had to ship it via a third party mail forwarder. Anyway, you can try the Pentalic 300gsm sketchbook if that's too much of a hassle. www.amazon.com/Pentalic-100-Percent-Cotton-Watercolor-Journal/dp/B00479VQOE?tag=ttmus-20
