- How to wipe all data from your Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S and reset it to factory conditions. Do this before selling, or giving away your Xbox!

Before you sell or giveaway your Xbox Series X|S, you'll want to erase all your personal data, Xbox account, and games from the console.
But don't worry! If you have purchased games from the Microsoft/Xbox store (or redeemed codes for digital games) you will still own ALL your games.
In fact, as long as you have synced your data to your Xbox account, you'll even keep your game progress, and Xbox settings.
If you decide to purchase another Xbox, all you need to do is login to the new Xbox with the same account, and ALL your games, account, settings, and synced game progress will be there.
After you delete all data from your Xbox, it's also a good idea to go into your Microsoft Account, and remove the Xbox from your account.

Once you do all that, you are free to sell or give away your Xbox, and the new owner will go through the same setup process as a brand new unit.

This xbox didn't make me want to keep it. I will keep this for when the time comes and bye-bye junk scraps. It has been month since I touched it and I have been uninspired with the Game Pass even getting worse. I tried to like it but. Money not well spent. I couldn't play with my 360 titles. That's why I was planning on getting it out of my house.

@@Yves_Morales My dad decided to give me a XBox One. He "thought" I would like it but it was the least played out of all of the stuff I have. Plus the library flat out fails to make me want to renew membership. The 360 needs maintenance and it should be running good. I have 360 games and buying the One Library and Game Pass is not for me.

The steps microsoft suggests is just the first part. I added the second part because I like to keep my MS account properly updated, but I don't believe you HAVE to do it. Even if you don't do the second part, the new owner WONT have access to your account info as long as you do the first part.

As long as you reset from the Xbox you're good. I just like doing the second part to keep my MS account clean and updated.
If you sign into your Xbox account on the Microsoft website and you remove the Xbox from your account doesn't it delete your information of all the games youve bought on your account so if you try to sign in on a different console your information is lost?????? Or does it just remove account from the device without losing your games and data????????? Im confused 😅
removing an Xbox from your account DOES NOT remove the games you have purchased from your account.
I bought an open box Xbox series s on eBay ( supposed big box store returns) and it looked brand new , it had all the packaging shown in this video, foam wrapped etc. but when I went to register it for warranty after I set it up it showed it had 9 months remaining instead of the 12 months. Is there any to tell who set it up and registered it? Did someone just do what shown here? I contacted Microsoft, they said to contact the seller but I assume they don’t have this information.

the games are linked to your account. even if they were installed when you sold it, no one could play them without signing in to your account.

It would be linked to your Xbox account, not the console.
hey man not that i was considering doing this but say if i was to get a new console would and i reset the the console and removed everything would the saved game data be on my new xbox if i was to sing in or would it get rid of my saved game data completely on that account on any xbox or just that one jus because i was genuinely just thinking would i remove the game data not just off that xbox but on any other one if i was to sing into my xbox account on another one like would the games i have on the account still have their data
You can remove ALL your data AND games from a specific Xbox, then sign in to a new Xbox (with the same account) and ALL your games AND save data will be there for you to download. *Assuming you sync the data to your account and you are not playing 100% offline.
The games you purchase are connected to your Microsoft Account, not the physical Xbox.
@@SQ3X oh right thanks it’s just because from what i’ve heard from others is that if you press the remote games and apps it apparently gets rid of all the data on the games like progress and saved data and you have to start over on all of the games again
also say if i were to do this to my current console even if i wasn’t selling it if i signed back into my account and reinstalled my games would the game data still be there or no it would all be gone appreciate it if you’d respond as i’ve always wondered about it!
Yes, same thing applies. If you delete everything from your current Xbox for troubleshooting reasons or you just want to start fresh - you can sign in to the same Xbox and all your games will be there, ready to download. Your save data will sync when you open a game you previously played.
You can even delete save data from your console to reclaim space, and it will sync the next time you open the game. Just be careful that you don't choose the option to delete save data from the account, because that will set you back to the start of a game.

How many are selling your Series X or other Xbox over what Microsoft is doing as of late? I know I am because there is no more reason to keep it I already have a PS5 and Switch so since they are releasing multiplatform I have no reason to keep it other than backwards compatable games.
I am too, I already have an PS5 and just don't like the direction Xbox is going in.
I just sold my Xbox Series X on eBay and going to use the funds to get a PS5.
What sealed the deal for me is when I was playing NHL 21 and was playing the final game of the Stanley Cup and wanted to record it but the Xbox X Series only allow you to record 4 minutes at a time, meanwhile when I had the PS4, it allowed me to record the full game and I found out PS5 also allows you to so I’m heading back to the PlayStation Family.
@@AyoAston Xbox had a great showcase, so I am hanging on to it a bit longer. Keeping it all depends on how Microsoft handles things going forward. I do play my PS5 way more though. We will see.

technically you don't own physical games either. today, the disc acts as a license to play the game. many physical games for modern consoles still require downloads to play the game, and companies can still revoke your access to a game if it's online - even if you have a disc.
@SQ3X true! Thats why atleast for now.. having a gaming pc and depending on the game size..you can burn them to a cd r 💿 there by atleast %95 physical edition
