@@IsoGang13that’s a horrible take. It’s all about key defenders, defensive adjustments, and/or whether or not the other team actually cares. Some teams will let a player score 60 because they don’t think it’ll result in a win. Plus you forget that todays game is also a lot more fouls, possessions, the lanes are wider, no hand checking, and quicker pace so it’s a lot easier to score today.

Dame literally said it was easy to score a 100 in a game if he just took more shots, and their defense played around him. Yes, you need defensive adjustments, but most of Dame's and Mitchell's points were without fouls. And aren't' fouls a fair return for getting fouled on a shot that was supposed to be made?
@@IsoGang13 my point is that it’s not just a simple increase of shots. Dame can say that because Dame has an all around offensive game, can actually pull up from anywhere, and is dangerous off ball and on ball. He has the game to possibly do and say that. If Giannis takes every shot, he’s not getting anywhere near 100 because it’s all dunks and layups. You actually have to have the all around game to be able to score that much, you have to be a volume scorer because some players can get gassed having to shoot that much, are they also having to play at least average defense, and you also have to be efficient while shooting that much. You say it’s as simple as taking every shot, but players have done that in an easier offensive era and nobody’s even matched or surpassed Kobe’s 81. So that’s why I’m saying it’s not as simple as take every shot. Harden is a perfect example of the fact that it’s not just taking every shot. It actually should be easier today than it was for Kobe and nobody has done it yet.

Basketball is not a team sport, is a player driven sport. 1 or 2 out of the starting 5 could beat another 5 every night. Role players who know their role makes it a team competition but they’re role cold truly have zero impact on the game if one single dude decides he wants that dub. All those players you named are greats but when you transcend that game of 5v5 when you’re out there it doesn’t matter who they have. That’s how you know you’re up there. It’s not football where you need all 11 guys to win, one single wr isn’t gonna change shit look at the lions and how they ruined Calvin Johnson. But it’s also like football where you can’t have scrubs and expect to win i.e Tom brady had stacked squads. Not always the best but role players that held their own and got to shine. The ppl who transcended basketball could win chips alone without physical limitations of playing 82 games + play offs take of fatigue in the nfl on one player and your team still loses that’s a team sport

And anytime anyone would try and double him automatically the coach would sub them out or threaten to sub them out. The first person to thank for Kobe’s 81 is the man himself. The second person to thank us Sam Mitchell. He did everything in his powers to allow it.
