My reaction to Season 1 Episode 22 of Mushoku Tensei. And so the depression arc begins. I would have never thought we'd say farewell to both Ruijerd and Eris within a single episode like this...
And so the depression arc begins... We're already on Season 2 Episode 6 over on www.Patreon.com/Robinoyo! Go and check out the next 8 episodes + OVA right now! You can also sign up as a free member and watch the next episode already! Thanks for watching :)
to me, mushoku has everything anime has to offer in general.
it has action, slice of life, humor, psychological/ mystery and fanservice. its the full package.
Politics, Fantasy, Romance, Drama (Don't forget Drama is one of Main Genre in Mushoku Tensei that's why Mushoku kinda different from another isekai)
It is basically like life itself.
I still on the part of being almost 40 virgin. Can't wait the truck save me
Season ends, depression begins
turning point, is a turning point not only for the story, but also in rudeus` character/personality in general. imo
24:00 peak writing of Mushoku tensei right there ong 🗿👀💀
I love how always I make food and want to watch Robinoyo while eating but I eat it before he finishes his intro 😭🤌
Hahaha probably should just skip straight to the reaction part next time 😉
Nah cant do that even though I wanna eat while watching I still love your recaps and theories man ^^
Yooo same for me I sit through the intro while my foods getting cold and then gets all excited when I hear the "yeah, with all that said lets dive into..."
Turning point 2 was what made Eris decided to leave Rudeus.
Mushoku Tensei is about
- Drama (Main Genre)
- Fantasy (Main Genre)
- Psychology (Main Genre)
- Slice of Life
- Romance
- Politics
- Action
all-in-all, it's a biography.
God I love Turning points and god I love how realistic these characters are
Are you SURE you love turning points? 🐀
The original story comes from a webnovel (remade by the author into a Light novel). It's 24 volumes (26 for the Light novel), and the first season covers 6 volumes (and the first half of season 2 covers 3), so i guess Mushoku tensei might have 4 to 5 seasons (+ maybe some more for the "bonus" volumes (like "Redundancy", "Jobless Oblige" and the third one i won't say the name, for spoilers precaution))
Btw, Turning points express something specific they have in common, but you might not understand what it is before TP 3 or 4
Looking at the TPs, there's the author's stated purpose of them; I also pinpoint a single common actor to each as the linchpin, but this person's connection to 5 might be a bit more tenuous.
TP1: emergence
TP2: a whim
TP3: advice
TP4: bait
I think, this at the end, was the first time Rudeus cried for real.
In the anime. In the book he cried already at a number of other points, such as when Roxy left and when he reconciled with Paul.
The story is based on the Light Novels that finished along time ago now, the manga based on the novels is still going on
25:54 I swear I heard "God of War hair?" I laughed way to hard at that.
The real turning point 2 for our hearts.... 💔😭
Be careful on the Wikis lol
It's called the godfather of modern isekai, because of how impactful it was at making the genre extremely popular.
It's based on the light novel series, which has 26 main books and like 6-7 extra books with pre and post main story stuff.
What we expect is 4x 24 episode seasons and 1x 12 episode one, or something along those lines.
And every isekai rips off the beats of MT without any underlying themes or points.
Things happened in this episode are the consequences of the turning point 2. Eris felt that she is incapable to help and protect rudy in the future fights, also reminding that in Eris view, rudy is younger, and kinda little brother of her.
An additional layer to Rudeus' uncle wanting to take Eris as a concubine: he would've gifted her to Darius, that bald, fat minister, for political favors.
Darius was the one who paid off Thomas to have Eris kidnapped.
He'd held an interest in her since she was seven years old.
Stein's gate, aot, mushoku tensei? This man got taste!
Also based on your favorites, maybe you'll also like code geass. Tldr its like death note but more action!
Great reaction as always!
It was at this point my depression began I felt relatable to rudy
Eris isn't the sole survivor or even heir of the Boreas noble house. Her uncle still holds her brothers. James is the current head of the family and he's more pliable by court intrigue than Sauros ever was. Sauros wanted to spend money on reconstruction and rescue efforts, while James wants to spend money on his social life at the capital for political favors and connections.
my poor boy rudy got pumped and dumped
Great reaction and I like a lot of what you said. It was good hearing your thoughts about the series in general. I like this channel.
"The cup disappeared in the puddle. What's that supposed to mean"- Symbolism of their act, my friend.
This episode is hard to watch, because everything is so sad. Rudy vowed to be a better person, and while not perfect by any means, he's done things better... and is STILL alone. The whole scene with Eris and Rudy just feels gut-wrenching, because the natural assumption is this is fulfilling a promise and/or a last for herself before becoming a concubine.
Hair cutting symbolism in Asian cultures: In the modern day, cutting long hair into a short cut means to forget the past, leaving the old and starting anew.
"fulfilling a promise" That's exactly what was going through Rudeus' head at the moment: Eris had had enough of his continuous failures and wanted to fulfill the last thing binding them together before leaving him like excess baggage.
The next episode does explain part of Eris' reasoning, but she never could've imagined Rudeus would so massively misinterpret her words.
She genuinely wanted to be with him and would've eloped with him, but the act proved a number of things to her in conjunction with the encounter with Orsted.
For me this was the last episode I watched before season 2. I completly missed the last episode and was left wondering what actually happened with Eris. Though in hindsight, I think it was a happy accident since it allowed me to relate more to the emptiness and uncertainty Rudeus feels
why would you think eris cares one bit about the territory? she was never shown as a patriot or liked the noble ways or anything. all they said is that she and ghislaine went away. looks to me like running away.
I think the dude even wrote her off as 'dead' on the list to accomodate her travel with Ghislaine, which was removed in the reaction. But welp, Robin in general suffers with character emotions, and grasping behind their intentions. It is still cute he attempts to reason the actions made in the show.
Why woud Eris accept to become the concubine of some nasty old lord?
NO Way in hell she woud have accepted that deal.
And for what? the good of the people of fitoa? She dosn't know this people, her familly never instructed her as a player in politics, this is not her responsibility to take.
The real reason must be something else.
She wouldn't have stayed with Rudeus' uncle anyway. He would've gifted her to Darius, who's had his eye on her since she was seven, and hired Thomas to get her kidnapped when Rudeus concocted his scheme. Darius is that bald minister gloating over Sauros, and at this point of the story Pilemon was currying favors from Darius and his faction in the court.
And Pilemon isn't exactly old. He's 25 or 26 at that point, though his position has aged him. He's Paul's younger brother by some six years. And he had his second son Luke when he was 10.
@@Tounushi I know, I just didn't want to be to direct and avoid spoilers.
Speaking of wich....
Phillemon as head of the Notos familly is desperate to get In Darius good scide.
After he abandon the plan to get Ariel on the throne
Yes gifting Eris as a concubine woud be a grate gift for Darius... in theory.
Thomas didn't have the option to give her to the remaning Boreas leed by James since they have lost a lot of their power and have not much use for Eris, they are likely to kill her for good meshure if they ever got the chance so nobody can use them to undermine them.
But selling her to Philemon or Darius was a hopeless endeavor, Eris woud have never agree to it and she woud have killed anyone trying to force her to do it.
And with Gislayne by her scide onlly an emperor lvl swordsman or avobe cud stand a chance against both.
And capture Eris without killing her woud be a preatty tough challenge.
Once they make it to the sword sanctum they woud be practicly untouchable even by Darius.
Nobody tells Gal Farion what to do.
And you cannot brive him.
Even Darius woud not risk making an enemy of the Sword God for a bit of redhead pussy, its not worth it at that point.
That bald pig think he is untouchable with his political standing and deep pockets.
But thers some people in that world that are beond his power no matter how much money and political favors he can call upon its not gonna be enough.
And he is gonna find out soon enough.
Imo it is earned. The scene doesn't just play out to make you feel like it's earned. Rudy transformed her. She was on track to becoming a spoiled brat. They have also fought side by side for years. Rudy is uniquely impressive in this world (he is a massive prodigy in terms of magic). He has looked out for her for years. She has admired him and strove to become great because of him.
The only thing that makes it not as earned is because he is reincarnated, but the point of reincarnation is to get a second chance. Not to just have a life extension. Also, before it was mentioned that he was not aroused by his mother. That lets the audience know that he is not just purely old rudy. He is this boy and you should treat him as this boy, but he also has memories from a past life.
If ppl expect you to live your new life based on your past life that completely destroys the point of reincarnation. That is just a life extention with a younger body. You are given a second chance. Live a new life. Do not drag your past life into your new life unnecessarily.
The manga is bad, very bad. The source is light novel and its fantastic, start to finish, the journey and the end is *chefs kiss* perfect
At some points the manga is genuinely good, but most of the positives IMO lie in the art. The use of Eris' crimson mane as a symbol is a great example.
Imo Mushoku Tensei dropped quite a bit in season 2 part 1, animation vise at least. Also it became more of a slice of life which I don't really like. Hope they will do better in part 2.
Despite me loving this part (S2 part 1), it's the least loved/liked by the light novel community.
Don't worry about what coming next. You will be satisfied
Oh trust me it gets real good
It kinda fits that the vol 7-9 part of the story is slower and more downbeat. Rudeus is going through depression.
The quality and pacing take a nose dive with S2C1. Hopefully the break let them get their quality up but I doubt it. MT anime seems to have peaked in S1. The story will carry the anime now not the art direction. And then there's the OP that spoils the entire thing.
