  • I never want to have anything unsafe in the shop. My desire to have all of my workstations with adjustable casters positioned on the inside footprint of the stand didn’t work too well for this smaller stand setup. Take a look at how moving the casters to the outside made this a much safer portable stand.
And if you are interested in this product line of lifting casters, go to the link below to get yours. They have multiple weight loaded versions from which to choose. Also, here are the wipes that I recommended for your glasses and other screens around the shop.

good point. Some possible alternatives? (which can be combined.)
Splay out the legs which will increase the stability of the stand and allow you to mount the casters on inside.
Or switch the casters for the same type but are removable. A simple pin pull and the lift & caster comes off leaving a mounting plate.
I noticed what seemed to be some flex in the legs and splaying them should stiffen them slightly and allow the option of additional bracing (and possibly a storage drawer/cabinet?).

You're right, they do have some movement. I had planned on using the stand for a bit and then determining what kind of storage I wanted underneath. The flexing became particularly noticeable when I was using the center punch to mark the holes.

The inner mounted casters create a moment and it'll always tip given the slightest of nudge. But I have those casters (not sure if it's the same...looks the same) and it's held up remarkably well for my heavy work table.

Yes, I agree and when you couple it with the small footprint, I was afraid it would fall over at some point when moving it. I'm glad you like the ones you have. I really do like mine that I have on all of the benches and stands in the shop.

Fair enough question. But I put all of my casters on the inside of my benches and work tables to avoid tripping hazzards. As soon as I mounted them, I felt certain I wouldn't like it. Inside mounting worked well for all of my others. 😉
