Aww man, don't dog my glasses! :) I like them. I'm not a fan of the larger framed glasses, especially for readers that I'm always sliding on and off. Good tip on the sound. Sound quality is something that I am aware that needs improving. Is there a brand that you would recommend?

That's strange. Something has to be off. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the bottom plate that the caster is bolted to is upside down. Is that possible because it's easy to do on the installation?

You're right, they do have some movement. I had planned on using the stand for a bit and then determining what kind of storage I wanted underneath. The flexing became particularly noticeable when I was using the center punch to mark the holes.

Yes, I agree and when you couple it with the small footprint, I was afraid it would fall over at some point when moving it. I'm glad you like the ones you have. I really do like mine that I have on all of the benches and stands in the shop.

Fair enough question. But I put all of my casters on the inside of my benches and work tables to avoid tripping hazzards. As soon as I mounted them, I felt certain I wouldn't like it. Inside mounting worked well for all of my others. 😉

Ouch, that's a legit concern. The combination of a small footprint and high center of gravity does cause issues. I actually just changed the ones I did on a smaller stand earlier today because of that very concern. Thanks for sharing.

That's the absolute truth. I was surprised to see how much overlap there is with Amazon and Temu. That just shows there are lots of middlemen cashing in on the consumer's expense.

Agree 100%. And when you find the trash, it's relatively easy to get refunded or get credit. I'm not sold on everything they have, but some of it is far too good of a value to pass up.

So my question to you is this, do you buy from Amazon, Walmart, Lowes or a variety of other places? If so, you are likely buying from China as well AND paying a premium to the middleman. I found some of the exact items on Amazon that were marked up on average almost double for the exact same thing from TEMU. As far as doing something about it, I wrote letters to my senators in the 1990s telling them that NAFTA was a horrible idea and that manufacturing in the US would never be the same if they let it go through. And NAFTA was only a small steppingstone to the world economy we have now. If you have a solution that doesn't involve throwing grains of sand in the ocean, I would love to hear it.

@@RosinityWW spoiler alert, @Jonbruford7950 buys from those places or money is no object. I would like to be a crusader but my wallet is limited despite my unlimited sense of justice. So sacrifices have to be made.

Great question. It's interesting that you should ask. I was just checking one of them for accuracy tonight. I brought it to my shop and compared it to another that I have there that is not digital, but I suspect to be more accurate. It was within 0.4 degrees F the first time and between 0.5 and 1.0 degrees the second check. I need to find a more reliable method but that's close enough for what I need it to. I didn't check all three of them but that gets me the info I need.

@@RosinityWW I can't that accuracy with mine. If I take a reading and then reset and take another. I probably get plus or minus 2 deg F with the same thermometer. And between different thermometers I get more. I'd be happy with plus or minus 1 deg. You should bring them all into the shop and see if they all read the same. My shop is below ground so it's important I get my pieces over 50F when I am doing finishing work and paint.

I did figure that out with what goes where once I looked closer at the device and product pics. I just haven't tried in on my chisels yet, but I like the idea of making a measuring jig. Thanks for the suggestion.

My response to that is, do you buy anything from Amazon? Because if you do, a lot of what is on Amazon is on Temu at anywhere from 35% to 75% less - the exact same product. I didn't believe it until I saw it.

Don't know if I'd say that, but Amazon's reviews are more reliable than Temu based upon my experience.

Actual user reviews on products are fairly accurate, the movie reviews, particularly on their rentals are another story. Every rental is the greatest movie ever made until users actual reviews surface and then the rating declines over months until something close to reality appears.@@RosinityWW

Yes, I've read bits and pieces about it and the other Chinese only "Temu". What do you think about their website vs the app? And truth be told, any app you download anymore is a tracking machine once you check all the boxes.

@tyWW 1) Your second sentence is not a complete thought. So I have no idea what you mean. 2a) The video was about temu, so no, I did not watch the video. 2b) even reviewing temu crap suggests that there may be value somewhere. Temu "review" videos are a new trend that keep popping up in my feed. I don't know if Temu is paying youtubers (probably pays some, most probably unpaid just for the views is my guess) but the trend is giving a crap company mindshare it should never have. If a temu video does not start off with stating that there is no value in temu, the creator has already lost me. I got so sickened by one guy I've followed for years making a temu should I/shouldn't I video I had to unsubscribe. Regardless of what reiviewers say, people who never heard of this craptastic company now know and for temu that is a win. 3) the whole company is suspect. tldr; temu is not worth reviewing and review videos only serve as promotion

But I do learn from every bit of feedback I get and will find ways to improve. All I tried to show here is the steps that unfolded that allowed me to see that there are some suspects things that TEMU is doing and I wanted to let others know. Appreciate your feedback. :)

That's great feedback. I love free stuff, too, but I want to be sure you can stand behind what I recommend or don't recommend. I'm guessing I'm on TEMUs black last. (Just so everyone knows, I'm not suicidal nor do I plan on having a life-ending accident anytime soon. 😬)

I will give Amazon credit, I'm in the Vine program where they send me stuff to review and there's zero influence to give a good review. When I give bad reviews I'm often contacted by the vendor offering a refund, with the idea I suppose of my withdrawing the review, but since I didn't pay for the product I'm not interested in a refund. There are tons of fake good reviews on there by shills, you do have to watch out for that, but they don't manipulate the reviews the way the Chinese sites do.

So, I'm curious, what do you end up using them for?

If that's what you got out of this, you apparently didn't watch the full video. I made those points very clear about the price. The bigger issue is the suspect ratings where I show that the poor reviews are being hidden.

Your point about my hand being in the way is taken and I agree. However, it's clear that the countersinks are bad, as I also mention and clearly show in the video. How much did you even watch?

I think that's a fair statement. I still have orders in queue so they haven't completely scared me away yet, but I am learning what to look for in their images and reviews and comparing products to amazon.

That's what I was afraid of, that they are hiding the bad reviews, letting the reviewer think it was posted when it's not or it's buried so deep, you'll never see it. I probably unknowingly agreed to have my reviews removed if I opted to return a product or get a refund. 😅

You're right and it was even worse - the cutter heads are tapered in the wrong direction. I need to finish that video to share. They were awful. I kept the bits and tossed the rest.

It can be bad. I have found some good products that I like though. But much or what we get in terms of tools is already made there, even the name brands.

I do each time. They have been good about refunding. I've had to send items back on two different orders and on two others, they've told me to keep the item and refunded me anyway. So, I do appreciate that but the items they've told me to keep are unusable or missing. There are things I like and don't like about their process. It's easy to rate and get a refund but if you've experienced their crediting process, it's not good. I want to be able to apply it to the purchase on items I want versus having to select from a menu that may not have what I am looking for. Fortunately for me, I eventually find items. IMO, it is better off to get a refund versus a credit. Have you had experience with either refunding or crediting?

I tried to get a refund for credits, and it only took about 1 minute to receive the credits. Then I bought new items again, feeling very convenient. For me, they are still good. It's a platform where communication is possible.
