You know, this song hits me hard. My Dad committed suicide, and he called me the weekend before he did it. He was an alcoholic. Figured he was plastered so I didn’t answer the phone. It’s been 11 years now and I would give everything to answer that call.
i lost my dad about 3 years ago. i'm only 22, and a single father. the hardest thing i deal with is missing my dad. i just wanna hear that half drunk raspy voice again. i'm sorry for your loss nick. we'll get through this, king.
I’ve seen a lot of react channels but for some reason I like you guys the best. I appreciate the knowledge the son has on all of the artists he presents and I like his dads input and openmindedness
Swimming in circles! It's crazy that Swimming ends on a half note and Circles starts on a half note so it's like Swimming in Circles! There's a few videos about it!
he taught himself to play most of his own instruments. he would make a tune, drum over it, and then throw some guitar and bass with it. he was one of the most creative rappers out there
Mac always brings a tear to my eye, still cant belive he is gone. Imagine all the great music he was still to make.. I hope to see you and youre dad react to more from mac!
This is one of the hardest Mac songs for me to listen to. I was in an outpatient program and was going through it. Some guy played this for our group and it just perfectly explained how I felt at the time. I would listen to this when I was at my lowest over and over so it’s kinda hard to listen to without tearing up.
The song, the album was an event that you remember where you were when it came out. When I saw the video for the first time, I sobbed uncontrollably. Its one of the saddest things you will ever experience in in your life. It didnt help that it came out about 1.5 before the pandemic. And I lost my sister and husband within 26 days of eachother in March and April of 2020. So this song will always be a hurricane of catastrophic proportions of sadness and depression, for me at least.
I am so sorry for you loss. I can't begin to imagine what it was like, I hope you have been able to move on and recover. Mac Miller is keeping them company, wherever they are. Sending you love.
this song gives me chills everytime. those staccato strings really do give it a playful nature that makes the content of mac’s verses even more hard hitting. the music softens the blow of what he has to say and makes it all the more depressing. for me it’s about struggling to reach out to people and keeping up that constant layer of superficial happiness almost as a guard against the judgement and help of others. this song gives me chills every time i hear it, the tenderness jon brion brings in the production combined with mac miller’s raw emotion and lyricism is just perfect. so glad you covered this!!
I wish I could go back and listen to this song again for the first time. Man. This is incredible. As someone from Pittsburgh it’s always nice to see people pay respects to Mac. He is a LEGEND in this city
I love your dad and your interactions, his love for you is so full, I can feel it. I used to spend time with my dad showing me his music just before he passed and I always tear up watching you guys.
The growth Mac Miller showed from album to album was phenomenal! And then when you sew it together with the earliest mixtapes and Larry Fisherman stuff .. this story had a lot more to be told
goddamnit Mac being dead is such a criminal set of circumstances. his art was so raw and real you don't find rappers willing to be this open and willing to let the listener into his life. his real life.
Can't believe its already been almost 5 years. I've listened to Mac every day of my life since 2011. It still seems like yesterday that we lost him. A talented person gone way too soon, we love you brother. Most dope.
I struggle every single damn day listening to this song and thinking how much I miss him. He saved me lots of time and I'll carry him inside me for my entire life. We love you Mac, happy birthday.
To this day, I still cannot stress the unfairness of the premature ending of Mac miller. It's not fair to how much he was set to keep on growing as a person and artist. So incredibly potentially talented. I truly did grow with him, from when he first started and us being the same age, seeing him become into his own was a privilege
I've listened to Mac for years. I know he's passed, I know this channel has nothing to do with him, but thank you Mac for saving my life. I saw myself in many of your words, many of your albums were written for me, the pain and the joy you sang about spoke to me. I wish I could've met you.
I've never dove deep into Mac Miller's music but this song & reaction is giving me the push to do so. I felt strong emotions with this song which is rare for me. Great song & great video!
This is just the tip of the iceberg, if you like this song in particular his last 3 album run has this sound more than the older ones. But the older ones are great too.
Had me balling through it all! There is something beautiful to see someone listen to Mac for the first time, but at the same time sore to the heart! LOVE U MAC RIP
Painting the full picture of Mac and who he was would be beautiful to see your dad unfold and learn from. Its one of the more complex artists we've experienced.
I personally can’t help from crying when I hear this song. It’s what this beat does to me and what Mac meant to me. Great reaction from you and your dad :)
that comment of the lyrics and the way he was singing them sounding "resigned" really struck a chord. that's what major long term depression is like, imo. it's like an old hoodie that you've been wearing every day for 11 months. it's lived in, it's cozy, it's familiar. it smells like shit but you don't know that it smells like shit because you've been wearing it for 11 months and you've gotten used to it. it becomes casual, the desperation erodes away until you've just accepted it.
So happy you did this vid! Dad is going to flip when he gets the full scope of Mac's evolution as an artist. From mixtapes to Circles to Larry Fishman (his "jazz man" alter ego)🙂 Looks like you released this on or near Malcolm's 31st bday. Well played guys. Thank you for the great content & happiness.
Great episode again guys! I love the conversations you have about this type of music and I think there is a lot more to explore with Mac Miller. Start your dad on blue slide park and work your way from there. He needs to hear the different styles Mac and do. Again loving the content!
'so tired of being so tired' never fails to make me shoot full in my eyes.. so so so true mann. Maybe not in the same way as mac miller but just life man it may sound stupid but it just keeps on going and going and sometimes (maybe even most of the times) you just dont have time to be tired because the next hurdle is already there in front of you. Its like an never ending path of hurdles. I know bad times always end but its even more exhausting to think that the good times also always end.. like you know you can go trough that whole process again but its just so exhausting knowing that it is coming again and again.. mac was always so easy to be vulnerable and open to his real emotions 🕊❤
As soon as the first strings come in I felt a rush of chills run up my body to my eyes, shortly after I was teary eyed... Man this song is too good words cant say enough. RIP MAC
Honestly loving this channel and the idea be hide it, such an amazing and genuine experience. The only I thing I see, and I can be wrong is just like there is a slight barrier between how to truly express personal opinion without hesitation. On a side note just because I just learned this, if you play the first note at the beginning of the album(this happy and positive up beat) and then play the last note at the end of the album(it’s like a disturb note or purposely interrupted) it’s supposed to foreshadow a circle. Basically from the beginning it start’s somewhat positive and happy and starts to pivot downward towards depression and possible suicide which to me interprets the circle of life; it’s a constant battle that will continue to come and go.

Thanks for this video. It's so good to see how father and son have common passion and can talk about it, share thoughts and view and do it duo and share it with people I love this song and whole album
Hey guys! First of all I really love what you’re doing. Just overall wholesome content! Mac is my favorite artist and even though I really like this album, I think you and your dad would also really enjoy some songs from his album “The Divine Feminine”, which is my favorite from him. “We”, “Soulmate”, “Congratulations”, or “Planet God Damn”, I think are all so great! But anyways, keep doing what you’re doing!
For me there seems to be an escalation from his earlier work, the more party vibe life is good rap, to the end. Maybe you could sample some tracks chronologically from his discography to sort of feel that progression in one sit down as you listen. Its fascinating to me to listen to his songs as they appear in order from his first stuff all the way to his posthumous releases. Some genuine acceptance of his fate in some of those tracks, its deeply moving.
One of several Mac songs that stops me in my tracks when i hear it playing. I remember coming home from school being quite exhausted and «numb» laying on my bed, opening spotify and seeing the single cover promoted on my homepage. Because of my mood, I thought i might listen to it some other day but i eventually put the track on, not knowing what to expect. After the first 10 seconds of playing, my mood suddenly shifted from «numb» to «sharpened», if that makes sense. It was almost a bitter-sweet notion, in the form of enjoying the melody but something being off. When i heard the first five lines being sung by Mac, everything around me got tuned down and i found myself staring at my instagram homepage fully immersed in the lyrics. Eventually i shed a tear when the song came to its end, followed by a complete silence. I dont usually comment on yt vids, but today i wanted to share my relationship with this track. A big loss indeed.
Be happy people enjoy his stuff....no matter what point in his career he made it man. I have such good memories of nearly every Mac song...not gonna hate that someone also now has a good memory of his newer stuff.

Love you brother stay strong 🖤🤞🏿
His tiny desk concert would be a good one to react too. PLUS, Thunder Cat is featured, so that would be cool for your dad to hear him again
I was thinking the same thing!! Great idea!
Exactly my thoughts too! You get to see more of his personality through interactions with everyone 🤩
Agreed.
Bro please!! 🙏🏼
The tiny desk is what opened me up to giving Mac a chance
I miss Mac Miller so much
He grew up so much artistically from the mixtape era to now
I do too.
I don't think I can listen to Mac until this day without it getting me in the heart strings. Great Artist Mad respect for covering this.
Same!
Please have ur dad review what would you do by the dogg pound
I'm the same way. Circles is a beautiful album and I almost never listen to it because it makes me cry.
I don't play certain song
2009 is the one song I can’t play without it feeling too heavy, Mac is truly a goat 🐐
I think dad needs to hear “Yeah”, “Right”, “Wings”, “2009”
His singer songwriter phase is something else, and sad he never got to expand on it
Agreed, iWould add "Colors and Shapes" to the mix.
Next Mac song will be 2009 because lots of people are asking for it. I will let my dad meditate on Good News for a week or so and then I'll show him!

Thanks for covering Mac. I honestly almost tear up everytime when I listen to Circles or just think about his life. He is missed dearly 💯🕊️
Mac Miller has always been good with using his sounds and making the back tracks, they're so beautiful.
This would be a perfect album for you guys to listen to the whole album! It's such a complete album and the songs definitely flow from one to another!
