"No Surprises" is my favorite Radiohead song. It's haunting.
One of my favorites as well.
It's haunting and relaxing at the same time, which is weird.
@@oberynredviper7828 So true. I was trying to think of the word I was trying to convey...melancholic, but at the same time not. I can't describe it. It's just beautiful.
Recommendation: Yorke's supergroup 'Atoms for Peace' - Fab album...
any other radiohead is better
Same!
Yessss Radiohead.
You should do the entire OK Computer album. One of the greatest of all time.
In Rainbows and Kid A are right up there too
+1 more for OKC but also...the discography.
The Bends is easily their best though
@@superbdiamondrange it's not tho
@@superbdiamondrange yess!
When dad was saying he didn’t listen to any new music in the 90’s it was kinda funny the way he said it but that’s how I feel about new music today. I’m 42 and proudly stuck in the 90’s!
So you didn't learn a thing from this channel, huh?
@@Catrambi It’s not like that because I am pretty familiar new music and pop culture in general but It’s just not my preference and that’s ok.
I like music from classical to early 2000s but after that it's rare to find an actual song that has substance
@@stephy6199 It depends a whole lot on the genre. Some of the best metal ever made is late 2010s. But yeah, for pop and rap is definitely the case. In my opinion, of course.
I get what you mean, but you just have to go a bit under the surface to find the really good current acts. They're not promoted like they might've been in the 90s, but good new music still exists. Then you've also got 90s bands making come backs with new music as well. (Failure and Stabbing Westward come to mind, but I'm sure there are plenty of them.) The teens/twenties are really good for lofi "bedroom pop" and you've got some cool groovy new funk stuff from Men I Trust... I don't know, there's a lot. That said, I've been dipping back into Nirvana, Weezer (I'm a first two albums + b-sides snob), Smashing Pumpkins, Failure, and my guilty pleasure Stabbing Westward a lot more than current music lately. And don't get me started on 80s music. Also really good, but more into the pop and new wave than metal/rock of that era... though I do love some metal once in awhile heh. (I'm 38.)
I know my initial point was to say that there is still good current music, but if you haven't, listen to Failure's Fantastic Planet (1996) all the way through a few times. Life changing lol.
The rap content is absolutely what I'm here for, but this video did make me think I'd love to hear your reaction(s) to The Cranberries' "Zombie". It's such a powerful song that I think it would be a really interesting video to see.
Also mainly here for the rap content, but enjoyed this video! It also immediately made me think of the Cranberries. They have a lot of amazing songs "Empty" and "Ode to my family" being two of my favourite ones. Would love to see a reaction to "Empty" in particular.
I second the comment. I love hip hop but love the Cranberries. Another one I would love to hear would be Rage against the machine-killing in the name of
I love Zombie
Crazy but my very first thought watching this I thought exactly the same thing! Zombie has so much depth in the lyrics. Perfect song for you guys
why are you here for the rap ?
So many great songs by Radiohead. Optimistic, Fake Plastic Trees, and I might Be Wrong are some favorites
Karma police
exit music
Yes! All responses plus National Anthem, There There, Pyramid Song. So many others... I feel like your dad would get a kick out of the horns on National Anthem.
15 steps is my fave
House of cards is my favorite
PLEASE SHOW UR DAD MORE RADIOHEAD! THEYRE MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE!!!
As a person who was a teen in the 90’s it so nice to see you guys review almost all the music I grew up listened to
The eyes chico, they never lie
My dad was in his 20’s in the 1990’s he was 23 in 1993 when this song came out
your dad is 1 of the coolest men on the planet he does not discrimnate on music genres he knows his music regardless of what style!
god bless that man!
I seriously adore how much your dad is into music. I do this when listening to music also, dissect it. I listen to the instruments individually and fully take in the lyrics, listen to what is truly being said. I also never stop bopping my head or hands. LOVE IT!
Based on the songs he's claimed not heard before, he can't be that into music. I'm not even a big music guy but how the people on these reaction channels apparently have never heard the songs they are reacting to is extremely hard to believe.
yes! i’m such a huge music nerd
@@NoirFan84 well tbf awhile back when I studied korean I missed out on a big part of american media/movies/series in a span of 7 years. People are dumbfounded when I say I don't know it, I was stuck in another world 😁 so I can totally see it be like this, not to mentio growing up alternative many of my friends these days are fully unaware of new music because their whole lives involve this one category of person that often listen to just one genre but they still know a shit ton about music and can judge it fairly!
@@NoirFan84 Yeah, I agree, I'm in my 50's and I loved 90's music, was lucky enough to all the major bands of the time, not quite sure where this dude was living but pop culture just seems to have passed him by
It's the emotion in this song that makes it great. We can all relate to admiring someone we think we aren't good enough for. Thom Yorke is a genius!
Ive just recently found this song and being in the current state in my life its been almost therapy listening to this song. It hurts, not the song but the emotions the song brings on.. so fuckin glad you guys did this song. Love the content, you guys are an amazing father nd son duo.
Yeah I can relate to that. That song SO describes me in my twenties. Sad, but true...
describes my life
This was super sweet! I took my daughter to see Radiohead open for REM in 95’. They’ve impacted our lives in so many ways ❤️
Didn’t realise it was 1992. What a decade of music. I was not long home from the gulf war and on a bit of (another😬) self destruct phase. This is part of the soundtrack to it. Banging sounds. Listened to it last night while on the balcony in Portugal with my wife and girls…a family tune. God save the queen! X
My Mum has this record on tape back in the 90s, blasted it in the car, house etc. I stole it when I got to my teenage years and did the same in the early 00s. My Dad however was completely oblivious to it despite all of this! He is gone now, but I like to think he would humour me if I played it now! I am glad you got to share this with your Dad and he so genuinely enjoyed it🙂
How cool is it to share one of your favorite songs with your dad and have such a detailed discussion afterwards. No generation gap here. Love it.
6:59 this comment hit really hard, because that's exactly the story of this song. The "creep's" tendencies are the loud guitar that keeps interrupting and making you uncomfortable, and he doesn't feel like he belongs. So at the end he just fades away so not to bother anyone any more.
That "Whoa" at 4:06 was everyone's reaction too first time hearing
Your Dad is not even that old can't believe he never heard radiohead...my dad was 40 in 94 and was listening to nirvana, stone temple pilots, nine inch nails, smashing pumpkins and all the great 90s bands
He's brazilian, Grunge wasn't massively popular here with older people, my father was in his 20's to 30's in the 90's and pretty much only likes Oasis
I just love and appreciate the concept of your channel. I miss my Dad. ❤❤
I love to see the face when he looks for his dad waiting for his reaction. This song it’s absurd. So fucking good
Dad! I’m 63 and I totally got into 90’s music. The grunge bands - man, you missed out!
“Creep” is such a profound song; easily relatable and so well constructed. A song you cannot not feel moved.
Radiohead started playing Creep again back on their 2016 tour, but yeah they rarely played it live for a long time. Also worth mentioning Thom Yorke released a remixed version last year as a single. Seems they’ve come back around on it.
90s music is the best. Would love to hear your dad's take on some Rage Against the Machine. "Killing In The Name" would be a good conversation starter and unfortunately is still applicable today. RATM's guitarist Tom Morello went on to play with another great band- Audioslave. Speaking of Audioslave, if your dad enjoys guitar show him "Cochise" from their 2002 self-titled album.
Dad; "no wonder your generation is depressed."
This shid released in the 90s so its gonna be dad's generation
@@user_anonymous000lol we are waay closer to the 90s than our dads are
@@OscarYLB yeah but, didn't you forgot that "my generation" which referring to gen z are born in 2000s and we are not even born yet that time its released.
@@OscarYLB Who's 'we'? Which generation are you referring to?
Thom Yorke himself is already 55 years old. I think Radiohead is definitely more in his dad's generation.
@@msl1689 well the music came out in the late 90s and early 2000s so the people who were young during that time were easily influenced which would be people born in the 90s. I was born in the early 2000s so that would be closer to the 90s than our fathers who were born in and around the 60s
I love your dad's face while he's listening to the guitar, it's like it lights up.
When the song stops it's like a beautiful dream then your suddenly awaken but you want to go back
Love Creep...my favourite Radiohead album is "In Rainbows", and also enjoy the song "I Promise" and video footage "from the basement " so much. So great you are able to share musical connections with your Dad along this journey. For a while I was involved in a church where secular music was not approved of, so after leaving I did a lot of catching up, so I relate to your Dad's discovery of music.
I recently turned 41, when this song came out I instantly fell in love with it because it was so familiar. It's the same chord structure as "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" by Elvin Bishop. For some reason this chord progression always brings me to tears, it's so hauntingly beautiful.
Idc what I’m doing, I instantly get lost in this song whenever I hear it. It’s one of those hauntingly good songs that always feels like the 1st time you heard it! ❤️
During the 90s you were either a Radio Head fan or Smashing Pumpkins fan. I never really got into Radio Head but this is their biggest radio hit. I love the Smashing Pumpkins.
Your father mentioned hearing only Nirvanas biggest hit, would be great for him to listen to their version of Man Who Sold the World from their unplugged concert. Being a David Bowie song he would likely recognize it. It's one of my favourite Nirvana songs. Just a note that I'm also a Bowie fan, but I preferred Nirvanas version.
Yeah Thom Yorke is definitely like a composer, just amazing music really put alternative on the map I feel and I'm glad his dad can feel the awesome build of this song, I think that's why
Love that y’all are also doing other Genres of music. I grew up with rap but I also grew up to love all types of music to Rock and Country (more as well but two other huge music genres that Rap only people hate.) I love seeing people just enjoying music.
Oh, baby you are so great for saying that! I love some rap, but dammit I miss harmony!
Idk how I haven’t seen your reactions yet. But absolute props to dad for supporting and loving what inspires you.
Thanks for watching. More good stuff coming. - Kai’s dad
2 words. Postmodern Jukebox. They covered Creep with Haley Reinhart. It will blow you away.
I fell in love with the acoustic version of this song
This is my husband’s absolute favorite song to perform for karaoke 😭 Great song. This is the only song I’ve ever heard by the group.
There's plenty from them to love! This isn't the best representation of them at all, but i recommend their 1997 album, OK Computer. Songs like "Paranoid Android", "Karma Police", and "Exit Music (for a film)"
Love karaoking thus song...im always a 10 when drunk n singing this track lol
@@lavenderllamamusic In Rainbows is the greatest album of all time hehehehhe
Listen to “paranoid android” it’s crazy in a good way lol. Or something more mellow “Separator”
Ironic because they allegedly kinda loathe it. It's just so catchy...and hence the issue.
You and you're father have an amazing relationship and connection. I found myself watching regardless of song because its so wholesome and with that have opened even my own stubbornness to other genres, may I ask for you two to react to the song 2pac unconditional love. Thanks again.
Wow, great to hear that, James. I’ll mention that song to Kai for definite consideration. - Kai’s dad
@@frontroom apologies for the spam post.. are either of you familiar with the U.K. band Jamiroquai?
There early music contains lyrical messages that are still relevant today. The bassist was a mere teenager when the band formed in 1992 and not many bands incorporated a didgeridoo player. Top live band too ruclips.net/video/HrESflF-4Zg/видео.html
Saw them in concert.....love this song
i like how you style your video with no edit. there's a lot of pauses, awkward interaction, and interruption. but those are what makes your channel authentic and interesting. i just subscribed😊
I love this song I've been listening to it since the 90s
I loved this.
"Are there three guitars going on there....but it wasn't noisy."
Radiohead is one of the few three-guitar bands. Good job on the ol man.
Mindblown. These two guys look like they are simultaneously unrelated AND the spitting image of the other.
I find it hilarious that the son is introducing his dad to music from the dads era as such hahahahaha brilliant
From a deeply invested hiphop head Shinedowns Save Me was the band and song that introduced me to rock music in a way I could appreciate, great song great vocalist and a great band
Prince did a nice cover of creep
Damn never knew
ruclips.net/video/hAzzRQe6lms/видео.html
Wait for the ending!
Jim Carrey did a nice cover of creep
@Randy marsh lol
Creep was very different in the music going on that year. It set Radiohead's course for at least the next two albums. The combination of sensitive vocal, influenced by Jeff Buckley, with heavily distorted, heavy metalesque guitar to emphasise the extreme emotions of the whatever the lyrics are about, is very powerful. They weren't the first to do alternating loud-quiet and tempo changes, which the Pixies are famous for, but they were the first British band to hitch it to really emotional story-telling, and not just being a Seattle grunge copycat band.
I loved this song throughout many special moments in movies like The Social Network, and also recently in Guardians of the Galaxy 3!
I liked the way the TV series "Orphan Black" wove an instrumental rendition of this song throughout its episodes as background for some of its most emotion-packed scenes.
I love Orphan Black. Fave character the one who was kept in a cage.
I’m 65 years old and it’s my favourite Radiohead song, I cannot sit still when this song plays
The 90's was one of the best decades for music... Ever.
Nope 80’s Best Ever!

i started expanding my music taste at the start of my teen years (15 almost 16, still got a long way to go) and i really enjoy “older” music. it goes to show that music really does influence old and new generations in ways. love the in rainbows and ok computer album. exploring the many different sounds really makes me appreciate the music genres.
Happy 4th of July!
The chorus resonates with me so much. I've always felt like I didn't belong anywhere. "How To Disappear Completely" is my favorite Radiohead song and also "15 Step."
Don't think I have listened to 15 steps but I can say that how to disappear completely is Thom York's favorite song that he released.
@@notice587 Oh wow. I didn't know that. As someone with Chronic Depression and BPD that song really resonates with me.

Rap and role... well said, sir.. if I may say love the general discourse in learning about music....
My dad is the one who always had Radiohead playing when I was growing up in the 90's
Rainy days listening to them on the ride to school cemented them in me forever and it is always comforting to listen to them
I have a couple of shirts he brought home from live concerts, and I still have them, tattered absolutely hell from wearing them all the time
I remember being a young teen in the early 90s. There were oldie radio stations. What was considered an oldie was hits from the 60s. They sounded cool. And they were hits from 30 years ago. Back then, 30 years ago seemed like an eternity ago. It was a time that I weren't even born nor existed. Now I"m in my mid forties and the 90s music are still very much cool to me. And it didn't seem so long ago, but it's 30 years ago. 90s music are considered oldies now.
The POSTMODERN JUKEBOX cover of this is absolutely fabulous. You should react to it as well.
You guys are literally reacting to every single song on my playlist! Lol
when they first came out i had no idea they would be so huge! "ok computer" was simply a brilliant album!
This was my era right here and I STILL…to this day, stan this song and Radiohead.
Just got done with y'all's Zombie by the Cranberries video and that was/is another stan 🖤
Jonny's guitar caught my attention the first time I heard Creep. What a passion !
Dad's really an old head if he doesn't know Radiohead, appreciate the music share 👍🏻
I love these videos so much. They r so good to watch while smoking weed
I graduated in 1994. We had such a great variety of music then. My kids are young, ages 6, 8, & 9. I love seeing younger generations exposing themselves to previous music. Btw that’s Jonny Greenwood on guitar. He didn’t like the song, that’s why he adds that abrupt guitar riff in the song. This was early Radiohead, so it had more rock sounds. Also, check out Radiohead, live at Glastonbury festival. I don’t know what it is, but just about any artist or band makes magic at the Glastonbury festivals over the years. Radiohead, is my all time favorite band. Pyramid Song, is haunting and beautiful. Kid A album, is one of their best albums.
When this song just came out, my radio or mtv would go super high volume every time they played this song. (Sorry neighbors of my parents). The contrast of the soft sensitive verses and the chorus with the loud guitar is so goooood.
One of my favorite songs by Radiohead ❤❤❤
Yeah, Creep is beautifully painful. Resonates so hard with people who feel like rejects. Should react to Fake Plastic Trees sometime as it's possibly their best song... maybe one of the best songs ever.
Too funny. I’m 62 and I’ve seen Radiohead twice. Found your channel because of Yes Roundabout. I love Radiohead. 😁❤️
Did you know the big guitar riff during the chorus comes because the main guitarist hated the song so much that when they started singing it he just slammed on his guitar and made that sound and took it from there.
Yes!!! Mentioned that in the video! Thanks for watching Jonny
The creep cover by Vincent on The Four is incredibly unbelievable.!!!
Yaaaas I love that version. I’m about to go watch it now.
Next Video: 2pac & Scarface- Smile
Not too big a PAC fan…but one of his tracks l LOVE.
This is a great song. An I know good music. I’m a 40 year old dude! 😂
I love y'alls conversations🖤
It's so nice to see people so genuinely interact that are from different generations honestly🙏
Your dad asked if the song turns around to address the singers insecurities, it doesn’t, but I can think of one that sort of does by Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls called In My Mind. Beautiful song lyrically.
From the looks of it I'm about Dad's age. For me when the mentioned Nevermind came out and I heard it for the first time I cried of joy with a sigh of relief musically the 80's finally and definitely had ended.
Of the generation that would have heard Pablo Honey very soon after it came out and made sure to attend the first Radiohead gig within a reachable distance as we've started working around that time and could afford to check out one of the hottest new things around...
Holy smokes, one of my all time favourite bands as a fellow Brit. If you're going to do a song from Ok Computer next, you could do a deep cut like The Tourist. Thom's vocals and Johnny's guitar work are hauntingly beautiful. Although it's tough to choose so a full album reaction might be called for. :D
I LOVE the choices you have made on this channel. I’m coming up on the 5th anniversary of my father’s sudden death and watching and listening with you guys has been therapeutic for me. Thank you. ❤ I was born in 83 my dad in 56 and I just love the music you guys have chosen. From PAC to the Cranberries… music from my youth. Love it.
