10:24 Final Thoughts
Overall, I've really liked training in the Reebok Nano X1 Adventure. It's quickly become one of my go-to cross-training shoes for casual hikes and trail runs.
Personally, I think the attention to detail is awesome in this model and if you're an outdoor-focused athlete and lifter, then this model is definitely worth considering.
Do note, it's not going to be as niche as some trail running shoes, but for the person that loves a blend of outdoor and gym work, it's a pretty good hybrid cross-training shoe.

I love these reviews, you manage to pinpoint all the bits about shoes that I notice but other people don’t, like the part that goes under your ankle bone! Nobody ever knows what I’m talking about but so many footwear items cause me grief like that!!!
wow amazing overview! Thank you so much!
Thank you! The Nano X2 Adventure comes out soon, too, stay tuned!
keep up the good job reviewing these cross trainers. really cool!!!!
Appreciate you 💪
Great revew. I bought these as my first pair of CrossFit shoes. I had been using Nike pegs which were not suitable. These feel much more suitible and are good for short runs too. Very pleased.
Thank you! Glad you like them 💪
Question for you: what's better for non-serious weight training and interval sprints on the treadmill or outside? Just trying to keep in some sort of shape and am looking between these and the metcons. Thanks!
Great review man!
Thank you!! 💪
I have this for about 2 months now and I really love it. I wear it everyday as casual wear and a couple of times a week for trail runs. It's really comfortable and cleans easily.
Ay, that's awesome :) Stoked they've been working for you
Are they good for close gyms and as casuals? For example workouts like crossfit and classic gym?
@@georgekalokardis7577 yep! Should be solid for that context
Is it oke for trail runs?
Dude, you helped me a lot! Thanks!!
Love to hear that! Welcome 💪
Dude! I was almost 100% sold on the Metcons and now you bring the Nanos into the equation 😂😂😂
Haha, I don’t like the word selling, Andrew - you know that 😂! I’m just presenting options and hopefully helping you make better choices based on context!
@@thatfitfriend no, no, I mean sold on the idea, I’ve been looking for this solution for a while and your videos about the Metcons, No Bulls, All Stars, Vans etc has helped me build my perfect set up…I have my Allstars for deads, my lifters for squats, a new pair of vans for everyday wear and the metcons seem the best pair to bridge the gap for my other workouts and activities…but now these Nanos through the outdoor idea into the mix…I know you’re not on commish bro, your advice on each helped me decide what was best, vans didn’t feel secure enough for deadlifts, I didn’t feel supported enough to go barefoot, no bulls would restrict my ankle too much, lifters hurt my ankles dead lifting….I take it all in and have tk sell myself on a idea of something before I commit!
Do you recommend these for Flat/Low Arch + Wide feet? if not which one do you recommend for general gym, walking around. I know Asics Kayano 27 are good for running.
I really wanted to like these but that heel rub 😂
Got to try them along with the X2. Felt like the X2 fits a lot better but I love the slight height increase of the adventure.
Hopefully the X2 will continue with the adventure model this year 🙏
Thanks for your reviews Jake. ❤️ from Malaysia
I hope they do, too! The Adventure was the best X1 iteration sans the heel rub for some.
Thank you for watching! :)

are there any specialized alternatives (other brands) for training outdoor or this is the only specific model?
Your reviews are my favourite, love that you get straight to the important points! I'm looking for a durable everyday shoe that I could also go walks in, that looks good but has a wide toe box and is flexible enough for my feet to move naturally. I think this model could be the one for me, do you think it would be comfortable enough to have as an all day shoe, or has it got that firm heel that some cross training shoes have? And how do you think it would fare in wet weather? Cheers!
Hey - thank you so much for the feedback!
This model is pretty solid for your asks, IMO. What are you wearing now and how do you prefer your shoes to fit? I could suggest more models based on that info :)
@@thatfitfriend thanks so much for the reply! I have some Altra running shoes that I wear a lot for walks in the warmer months because they have a good tread and dry quickly in the rain, though their toe box is a tad wide even for me. Otherwise in dry weather I wear Feelgrounds barefoot shoes a lot which I like the fit of, but they're not durable or good in rain at all! My feet are a bit bunion-y so I have to go wide to account for my toe knuckle sticking out a lot haha. I had a lot of foot-related shin splint/fascitis issues in the past that barefoot shoes have helped a lot with, but I could do with something a bit more protective in my shoe collection!
@@kirstenliggat898 gotcha! In the case, the Adventure could be a good option for that spread. It’s very different from all the models you listed and could be a good option for the sake of covering all of your bases!
@@thatfitfriend sounds great, thanks so much for all the advice!
@@kirstenliggat898 of course! And you’re welcome 💪
I kinda want those shoes. But I’m currently using the Reebok Craze 2 which is a beastly shoe for rugged trail runs, carrying sand bags, flipping & carrying tires, rope climbs with mud covering the shoes and climbing over walls. oh ya, Craze 2 has water drains in them so water drains out fast when you run through streams.
I was just looking at that mode the other day! It looks like a great outdoor shoe. Trail running/outdoor models are something I want to get more into - currently testing and rocking the North Face Activist Futurelights 💪
@@thatfitfriend They are also great for doing functionals outside on a natural turf. pull and push a relatively heavy slid even after it rains. pretty awesome.
How is the side to side stability of the upper during sports? I'm looking at these for grass volleyball but I've noticed some shoes have too much give in the upper so your feet slides around.
I don’t think they’re too bad! The upper helps lock the foot down in this model. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts though if you try them because that is such a specific performance ask!
Thanks for the review. You gave me awesome infos I needed.
Only if you are down for an opinion and a piece of advice, since you are not a cook/baker, you should maybe consider a better looking background ;p
Have a good one and good luck with your next vid
But we’re cooking up content!!!
Love the feedback - all in due time as the channel/business grows I’ll be able to upgrade 💪💪
Thank you!
Throwback question, have you ever tried Deadlifting (not too heavy between 190-255lbs) on Nike React 2’s (it’s made as a running shoe with a wide-er heel base?
I’m always torn on which shoe to wear on metcons with running in-between (200-400m runs) that’s more than 8 rounds.
The Nike Reacts 2 have a wide heel base and was pondering if you’ve tried this show out?
Which show do you prefer with short runs? Reebok Nanos, Nike Metcons, or another style?
Hey Rod - I have not unfortunately, so I'm afraid I'm not much of a help here. You could probably get away with it just looking at them, but I'd say pay attention to the ankle stability when working through reps quickly and mechanical changes you may experience with the higher stack height.
Honestly, I've been digging the Nano X1 and Metcon 7 for shorter runs!
@@thatfitfriendMuch appreciated Jake 👍🏼
4:08 that climb is cleeeeean 🤘💪💯
Thank you 💪💪
I saw the black version of these were on sale at Reebok and snagged them as my new outdoor shoe. Going to give some outdoor workouts with the sandbag and kettlebells a try once Spring warms it up here - should be fun to get some short runs in on grass between sets!
Hell yeah!
@@thatfitfriend will let you know how it goes. As noted in the video, the rip stop upper is great! The only concern I have is the exposed mid foam where the treads are cut away. I get what they’re trying to do with showing the different colors/densities of foam down there, but worried about rocks and sticks shredding it.
@@ChronicWatClesNarnia definitely keep me posted on that front! I’m curious how they fair for the trails/hikes that you tackle since there can be so much variance there!
@@thatfitfriend ok I promised to follow up here - they may not be great for everyday and walking trails around here. But they’re still good. Reasons: we have a lot of mud right now, and otherwise I’m on sidewalk and they’re just a little too hard - almost scratchy - on sidewalk/pavement walking. Will try them for some trail runs soon and I want to get my The Bioneer-inspired outdoor workout here as soon as it feels more like spring.
@@ChronicWatClesNarnia YES! Thanks man, I appreciate you keeping this on your radar and following up. Glad they're working for you overall!
In re: daily wear on pavement: I think they'll continue to break in for ya, but yeah, I feel that about the mud - they def have trail limitations especially when you compare them to true trail shoes.
Your review helped me narrow down my purchase of Nano series; thanks mate. Keep the good work up. have you reviewed No Bull ?
Thank you & Awesome! Keep me posted if you grab these 💪
I’ve reviewed the high tops on my channel, which model are you interested in?
@@thatfitfriend Historically, i have been a Nike fan and sold out on those; i was using Nike Retaliation Series, served me well since past 2 years; but when it came time to change, did not like the new retaliation series. Thanks to Covid in this part of the world getting hands on Metcon, only few stores had it. I checked on Reebok but the sales guy was hardly convincing. When i caught up with your video last week; went ahead and purchased a Nanoflex TR. Still waiting to get hands on No Bull's Trainers. They are not retailed in India, so need to order them from the states + loads of custom duty. So waiting for things to get normal soon. Have you reviewed them yet?
Curious if these would be a good shoe for disc golf. A hybrid shoe for trekking through the grass/wooded areas and for throwing off the concrete tees
I think so, tbh!
Hi Jake! I practice crossfit inside the box every day. I am interested in this model because I found it very beautiful. Does it work well in this type of training or do you recommend the traditional nano x1? Thanks ;)
This model can hold its own for CrossFit, IMO. It won't be as focused as prior Nano models, but for more casual stuff it works well!
Hi Do you think that the adventure would be good for gym HIIT training I.e LM Grit? Thanks
Yeah, should be fine!
How would these fair for long hikes with tougher terrain? I live in Washington and looking for a trail runner x cross training shoes that would be good for hiking.
They're okay, tbh. If you're reallllly looking for that hybrid model, I think this is one of the better bets on the market. I've worn these on trails in Boulder and Golden, CO that were pretty bumpy.
I will say though, I have a few pairs of dedicated trail shoes for really tough hikes that I'll use for 14ers, so if you're looking to tackle terrain like that, then it may be worth investing in a separate pair of shoes that are a bit more niche in nature!
@@thatfitfriend ok good to know. I do have a couple pairs of Nike Pegasus Trail 2, and they’re decent but a ton of cushion maybe a little too much that it can cause some instability. What trail runners do you use for the hikes in Colorado? Our trails are similar here in WA.
@@johnb9689 gotcha - right now I rock the Xero HFS for casual and short trail runs, I’m trying to acclimate to barefoot…it’s a process, lol. Then for beefier hikes I’ve been testing The North Face Activist model, it’s a solid 7/10 imo
I use the runners knot to get a better lock down.
Awesome!
Gonna try these out on the Colorado trails and see how they will run haha
Haha, that's Golden where my clips are shot! North Mesa over by the brewery!
@@thatfitfriend haha thanks for the tip, my first time actually going outside Denver. 💯
@@TheRay1227 ayyy! If you ever want to train/trail run together feel free to reach out!
Ok. It’s not Goretex or anything, but is the ripstop material any water resistant?
The outer flexweave does okay at resisting very light water, but def not water resistant.
Side note, I do like this material for wiping them down easily with a warm water cloth after dirty runs
been looking for a shoe that I can do HIIT/Cross Training in and then go run approx 5 miles after outdoors...you think these are the best on the market right now? hate having to wear pure running shoes to cross train that have too much cushion and lack stability
Depends, honestly - they’re not my fave for running longer than a couple of miles?
Why not cop two shoes and swap em? Would make them last longer, too!
@@thatfitfriend you're right, just forever hoping someone will nail down a cross training shoe you can knock out some miles in too. appreciate it, man!
Hello jake! I have watched all your Reebok Nano X1 videos and I have a question. Is there any difference between the Nano X1 Les Mills and the other nano models? Or is it just a collab with the Les Mills brand to put their branding on it witha different colourway?
Hey! Thanks so much for checking out the content. The Les Mills model is just a collab project if I'm not mistaken - there are no major construction updates with that iteration.
Yo!! Thank you so much for replying in the 1st place and for the super fast reply! I was looking for a crossfit shoe and watched a ton of your videos about them to make up my mind as a person who's starting his journey into fitness you've helped me a lot to choose the correct shoes!

Would this shoe be suitable for some that does 3 times a week 10k running outdoor ?
I think you’d be fine in these, however, if you don’t plan to lift in them, then you may be better suited opting for a more niche running shoe.
If you’re going to lift and tackle those 10ks, then I think these are a good hybrid. What are you currently rocking?
Hi, are these good for cemented hard surface running outside? I do 50-70 meter sprints 2-3 times a week on hard surface. Will these be good for that type of training or not? Or any other option as per you? Please reply?
These will likely work for that!
It depends though, if you plan to lift in them, too, then these are a solid option for tackling all of those tasks.
If you’re only doing sprint work and running, then going more niche would likely be a better call!
@@thatfitfriend thank you very very much for your reply 😊👌👍
The X1 was good at everything but lifting and running. I hated running in the X1 due to the increased heel drop coupled with how hard the heel is. I ended up straining my hamstring pretty bad the first time I ran sprints in them. Reebok dropped the ball with the X1 and the Nano line as we once knew it is dead IMO. Nike is making all the right moves now.
Dang, sorry to hear about the hammie! The Nano X1 is definitely a different vibe compared to earlier Nanos especially for those heavily vested in the functional fitness/CrossFit scene,
It's interesting because the Metcon 7 is a bit more responsive with its Nike React midsole and has a 6mm heel-to-toe drop which isn't too far off the X1's 7mm. I'm wondering why the shift now.
Would these shoes be good for hiking national parks? I'm going to Zion NP next week and thinking if I should take these or some running/trail shoes instead? What would you suggest? Thanks in advance :)
Oh sick! Enjoy it - I’d go with trail running shoes instead. IMO, these could be a bit uncomfy for all day wear with a bunch of mileage!
@@thatfitfriend Awesome, thanks for the reply and for making these videos, we appreciate it! Cheers :)
@@lastofthebadhombres4498 Welcome! Thank you for reaching out and enjoy your trip!
Does this shoes have the problem with blisters in the heel like the other Nano x1? I saw an ad for this particular shoe so it caught my attention with this design, I dont mind this design. I have never worn the Reebok Nanos but wear a size 8.5 in womens should I stay the same size?
Great question - I haven’t noticed any issues in this model and I low key think that’s because Reebok scaled back the other X1’s boot construction after many complained!
The material around the boot doesn’t feel nearly as tough to break-in, but it’s still probably a good idea to where slightly longer socks for the first few sessions just in case.
You should be safe staying the same size as these fit true! Sizing is always tough to gauge over the interwebs, so if you can try them on - I’d def recommend doing so, however, if you can’t, then go T2S!

@@thatfitfriend thanks! I just bought one. So far I like it. But Im thinking of buying a "hyperlift" like the one that comes with the Metcon... But overall is very comfy and stable. lets see how it performs in a long term. Tk
Hi Jake,
I have bought Nano X1 Adventure shoes, and this shoes are rubbing against my Ankle and gave blister there. Is this normal in this shoes or do I have received a defective model. Pls guide. Also guide whether can I continue workout in these shoes or should I stop using these shoes
Ah dang…I’m sorry to hear that! The Nano X1 has been prone to cause some ankle blistering for certain lifters. The Adventure is actually a better model for this, but it may not be a good model for your anatomy. They should break in a bit if you don’t want to return them!
@@thatfitfriend if it will break in a bit, then I will keep it. I have spoken to reebok and they said me I have 30 days to return, if I am facing this issue continuously. They suggested me to wear a long socks. Day one I wore ankle length socks, where my ankles were naked to the corners of the shoes. Today did my workout with longer socks.
@@kapilmehta5515 how did it feel with longer socks? If it doesn’t feel better after 2-3 sessions, then it might be worth swapping out. Sorry you ran into this issue! 😔
@@thatfitfriend with small socks I got blister in my right leg and there were traces of blister on my left leg, this happened 3 days ago. So today again I have decided to give a try with longer socks. As right leg was already wounded, so there was little pain and annoying feeling on right leg. But there was no such feelings on my left leg. Work out i did today was 15 mins of walk, followed by High jump, mountain climbers, burpees , push ups, lunges , squats, side plank, jumping jacks each 25- 30 secs of 2 sets. I had pain on wounded part when I was walking and jogging. But it didn't pain at all when I performed above all HIIT training. I will again wear these shoes with longer socks after 2 or 3 days and then will decide about whether to return or not... what do u suggest Jake.
Thank you
I found them ridiculously hard and not squishy when I tried them on. I couldn't imagine running or doing daily wear in them.
Dang, sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy these! What are you used to wearing?
@@thatfitfriend I really wanted to like them because I love the design. Tried them on for only a couple minutes but they were really hard. Like dedicated lifting shoes, in my limited experience.
I cycle adidas ultraboost for daily and under Armour charge / saloment speedxross for gym and running.
I wish they were softer so I could sport these. Do they soften up over time?
Great reviews brother thanks for the great content :)
@@Voltermort got you! I ask because it’s interesting how we all have our different thresholds and preferences with midsole/outsole feel and constructions so I love hearing from others.
They might, but honestly if you find them hard out of the gate I don’t know if I’d feel confident saying you’ll love them/or they’d change that drastically after a month of wearing them.
Thank you so much!
What do you think when we using it for running?
Runs a bit more stable, I'll use them for runs that are under 5k on more casual trails where terrain isn't super technical!
How is breathability in Adventure model vs Regular X1?
About the same, IMO!
If you’re debating the X1, then you may want to wait a bit because the X2 Adventure is dropping later this year and those models will probably have a nice discount if they don’t already!
out of curiosity where is the location at 1:50?
North Table Mountain in Golden, CO. By far my fave place to trail run around Denver. Decent terrain, elevation isn’t toooooo bad, and close to where we live 💪
Are these nano X1 adventure strong enough for rope climbing while training crossfit? I wouldnt like to tear them apart for using them for wrong purposes...
For casual climbs, yes, so if they’re programmed here and there they’ll work well. If you’re climbing a ton and trying to improve on the ropes multiple times a week, then you may want to find something a bit more specific!
@@thatfitfriend great! I need them for casual climbs so that's just what I needed to know. Thanks a lot for your answer, it helped me decide and I already bought them.
