Great video! I'm picking up the X because I need them more for heavy lifting and rope climbing. I have dedicated shoes for running already. Again, thanks for making this video as I'm blind-buying these
Thanks for posting this review; both shoes look like they'll take a beating. I do have two questions, though: For a overpronator, who's finally getting back in the workout game(elliptical training/weight machines/possible lifting), which Nano do you recommend? Also, what's the break-in time for the X?
Both of these models will give you the same amount of support, but I’d go X if you have the option. Estimated break in is about 1-2 weeks for the X if you’re wearing them 2-3x a week. Quicker if you’re wearing them more often! Thank you!

@Jake Boly Hey Jake. Thanks for the video. So my fitness style is more outdoor. Mainly focus on calisthenics, sprints, plyos, and some moderate weight work with sandbags for legs and conditioning. if I use barbell, I keep weight under 225 for legs (lower back issues from the past.) From the video, sounds like the 10 is the way to go. From your experience, based on the training style named above, would you agree to go with 10 over the 11?
If you’re capping loading to 225 and train outdoors mostly I’d say go 11! 10 is better for stability but does fall short in comparison for more versatile training that you listed
The break in period on the 11’s. Even doing a 1 mile warm up run with these (new out of the box) I had blisters. 😅 Wondering if the 12’s may be more comfortable on the heel.
Thanks for your review! First of all sorry for my english 🤣 I would like to ask you a question: I do CrossFit but I’m a beginner, my lifts are very light and I think it will take me a long time to make heavy lifts, so maybe I think I should look for shoes that do a great job at burpees, wallballs, box jumps… Is Nano X1 the best option? @@thatfitfriend Thank you for your quick reply. I do more reps and and not a lot of heavy lifting; free weights and machines. Forgot to mention I wear the Nano 9, but I have some blistering on my heels sometimes. I also wear the Metcon 5.
It’s better than some cross-training shoes! It’s always tough finding cross trainers with appropriate support for flatter feet due to their generally lower heel to toe drops, but the X1 is middle of the road, imo!
Great review I always do metcons with lots of burpees, box jumps and rope climbs. Have you used the x1 to rope climbing? I didn't see no reviews on this matter. For light barbell cycling would you think it's a bad shoe?
Thank you! They're not great for rope climbs, tbh. If you're needing a shoe for that ask, then I would look to other models. Not a terrible shoe for light barbell cycling, but they're very "meh". The boot is weirdly high and they have a higher heel-to-toe compared to previous Nano models.
Nano X2 can be a good option to explore! I’ve also written a round-up for this ask on my site, I’ll link that below 💪 thatfitfriend.com/best-cross-training-shoes-flat-feet/
@@oisin5225 most models will work for those asks, but if you want more responsive, then looking at options like the X1 could be a good bet, but for stability the Nano X, Metcon line, and UA TriBase Reign 3s are all fairly solid
Eh, comfortable might be a stretch, but they can work. Personally, I would limit their run use to 2 miles TOPS and opt for more specific running shoes if you want to put more mileage in.
To me Reebok CrossFit sneaker line ended at the nano x when CrossFit’s contract ended. I notice no one outside of the ppl that’s sponsored by Reebok likes them over the x’s. I don’t think you talked about the heel drop changing from zero to 6 I believe. That’s important because with less of a firm outsole/ more unstable compared to the older models and the heel drop cycling OLY lifts becomes more difficult. I can see a lot of inexperience CrossFitter performing movements on the balls of there feet. And to be honest no one needs there daily CrossFit sneaker to be a better running sneaker I would just get running sneakers in CrossFit you rarely run anything longer then 1km in a class wod.
Agreed on a lot of fronts! It’s a bummer that the partnership ended in re: hyper-focused CrossFit shoes! The heel-to-toe went from 4mm to 6mm which I should have mentioned and am kicking myself in the butt for now! And agreed on the running aspect, but it’s a question that a lot of folks tend to ask in regard to these models! Appreciate the feedback!
@@thatfitfriend Thank you very much. Did your Nano X fit true to size? Many reviews say they run a little small, but perhaps those are just the out of box initial impression and not broken in yet.
@@chuloCFA They fit fairly true. They're a tad snug in the toe, but tbh, not enough that I would go up .5 size. Do note though, I have a fairly narrow foot, so that could also play into why I wouldn't want to go up a .5 size!
I hate cleans or snatches with the X1, but I love running, wall balls, box jumps, and back squats with them. A situational Nano if there ever was one. The Nano X and Nano X Unknown feel better for me as an all around-er. The X1 also seems to suffer from "lace bite" as the tongue is extremely thin and the laces can dig into your foot.
Yes! Agreed all around. I'm sad they changed the lacing system so much. I feel like they just got it right in the X compared to the 9 (how it bunched), then boom...new laces all over!
Hello everyone, Is there a better shoe than the Reebok RealFlex train 5.0? Used for "Running, calisthenics, crossfit, HIIT" and i loved it sooo much! I've been using it since 2014 "3.0" and it's Best shoe ever! But I lost my pair and i need to get a new one and i didn't find find it! No one sells it anymore! I searched stores worldwide for hours and i didn't find it so i need something available, is the nano x1 good enough or please recommend something similar to the Realflex 5.0 or better.
Hey! What size are you in the RealFlex Train 5.0? I can help you look, too. Also, check out the Reebok Nanoflex TR, they look fairly comparable! I have a review on them on my page.
@Jake boly I don't know why companies stopped doing flexy shoes! I looked for any kind of shoe that is similar to the Realflex but i didn't find it. Now I'm gravitating towards the foamy shoes like the New balance 1080v11 and the Hoka Clifton 7 and Adidas ZX 2K which is best from your POV? Thank you.
@@J.L7 There has been a bigger shift to more "minimalist" style training shoes over the last few years. At least, it seems and that's what other shoe dogs have mentioned. Depends! Those are both fairly diff with the HOKA having a lower heel-to-toe drop and the Adidas having slightly higher. They'll likely feel fairly different compared to one another.
Less wide than the Nano 8, but a bit more than something than a Metcon 6/7. I don’t want to define them as “wide” per se, but in comparison to other trainers they’re decent in width!
@@bryanwong09 yeah! I’ve pulled over 5 and squatted over 4 in my Xs and they’ve been solid. Their stack height is pretty solid across the board for deads and for squats their 4mm drop is also decent depending on your mechanics and what you prefer 💪

Great video Jake! Love watching them. A few questions... My workouts are dumbell heavy and have a lot of box jump/step ups and overs, lots of burpies, planking and often have bench, squats and clings mixed in. Cardio consists of c2, ski, rowing and assault bike. If I'm on the tread it's 400m at a time usually no more then a mile total. My maxes are currently middle of the road. 260 bench 285 squat 185 cling. I can get a color way I really like in either the x or x1 for about $95. Should I get the x or x1? My guess is the X. Another question I have is I'm interested in getting lifters. Do you think they are worth it for someone like me? If so which would you suggest for someone budget conscious? And finally, when do you use them? Does it depend on the content of the entire work out? Will you use lifters for some parts of the WOD? Do you switch in-between? Sorry for all the questions!
Or do you think given the lower weight of my 1RMs I should stick with just trainers instead of lifters and maybe split the difference and go X1 because of the increased heal-toe-drop to help with ROM on squats and Clings?
@@anthonyorlando1418 hey! Thanks so much for watching and the in-depth ask. 1. I’d say go with the X! It’s a solid model and will tackle your asks well. 2. Lifting shoes could def be useful and there’s no “you have to be this strong/lift this much etc.” to wear them. They’re tools for supporting performance! I would suggest trying them out for squats/cleans/snatches if you grab a pair! Their elevated heel can also help lifting performance and having contrast between a heel elevation/trainer can be a good thing, imo. 3. Adidas powerlift on Amazon or an older Reebok legacy lifter! Both are usually ~90 or less depending on the retail outlet - I’d suggest going Amazon first 💪

I use a water weighted punching bag in my garage to stay toned, do some light jogging and walking. There’s a HIIT course at the gym I do as well. Forgot to mention I wear the Nano 9, but I have some blistering on my heels sometimes. I also wear the Metcon 5.
Gotcha! In that case the Nano X1 would probably be a better bet for you - are you able to try them on at all before buying?
@@thatfitfriend Just a better overall fit, and don’t size up a half size? I’m typically a size 9. Thanks. I haven’t tried them on yet.
get this man more subs!
I appreciate that, Erik!
Would you suggest x1 for people who have flat feet for working out?
It’s better than some cross-training shoes! It’s always tough finding cross trainers with appropriate support for flatter feet due to their generally lower heel to toe drops, but the X1 is middle of the road, imo!
@@thatfitfriend Thanks for replying, would you suggest any shoe for flat feet which can be used for running and training in gym?
@@s.s5759 how long do you plan on running in them?
Alternate days on treadmill probably for 30-45 min.
I wonder how that Nano X1 compare to the Mizuno TC-02? Are they really close to being similar type of cross trainer?
Tc-02 has a slightly softer outsole and overall is much more “minimal” in nature due to having less material throughout!
Great review
I always do metcons with lots of burpees, box jumps and rope climbs.
Which shoe is good for flat feet while gyming
Nano X2 can be a good option to explore! I’ve also written a round-up for this ask on my site, I’ll link that below 💪
thatfitfriend.com/best-cross-training-shoes-flat-feet/
@@thatfitfriend thank you for the spontaneous reply.
What cross fit shoe would you recommend for someone who will
be doing more short runs (say 3 mile) than gym
As in all “Cross training” (sry) shoes
@@oisin5225 most models will work for those asks, but if you want more responsive, then looking at options like the X1 could be a good bet, but for stability the Nano X, Metcon line, and UA TriBase Reign 3s are all fairly solid
Are the 11’s comfortable for a 1-2 mile run?
Nano X or No Bull for compound lifts, jump rope and burpees?
Nano X especially if you can find them for less than $130!
The X1 is terrible and gives me heel blisters after walking about half a mile. The X is thicker and more comfortable.
Thank you for review, i watched this video and bought both.🤣 as for the design, Nano X looks better.
Thank you for the feedback! Haha, Let me know your thoughts on them when you try them - curious how they feel for you as they are very different.
Hello everyone,
Is there a better shoe than the Reebok RealFlex train 5.0?
@@thatfitfriend Hello!
My size is 11.5 "US"
Thank you i'll check it.
@@J.L7 Damn, did a search and even checked if there were any on Amazon mislabeled and I struck out, too. Closest size I saw was 12.5 :/
@Jake boly
I don't know why companies stopped doing flexy shoes!
Does the nano x have a wide toe box?
Less wide than the Nano 8, but a bit more than something than a Metcon 6/7. I don’t want to define them as “wide” per se, but in comparison to other trainers they’re decent in width!
@@thatfitfriend is this OK for squat n dead?
@@bryanwong09 yeah! I’ve pulled over 5 and squatted over 4 in my Xs and they’ve been solid.
Their stack height is pretty solid across the board for deads and for squats their 4mm drop is also decent depending on your mechanics and what you prefer 💪
Thank you
Thank you, great video!!!👍🏼👏🏼
Thank you!!!
is there any special shoes you would recommend for running on the treadmill? i am really considering the NANOFLEX TR shoes, or would you recommend something else?
Great question, how long do you plan on walking/running?
@@thatfitfriend i usually run 2 miles and just take a few minutes walking. after this i usually do a lot of weighted training
@@sanela4931 should be fine then! I legit just hiked 7 miles in them and they were solid 💪
@@thatfitfriend amazing! thank you! can’t wait for them to arrive!😊
@@sanela4931 let me know how you like them!
260 bench
285 squat
185 cling.
Both are usually ~90 or less depending on the retail outlet - I’d suggest going Amazon first 💪
@@thatfitfriend thank you for the suggestions! I went with the X! I saw a pretty good deal on the legacy lifter 2. Do you still like your pair as an all around lifter including oly movements? Are they a good combo with the Nano X where you would suggest them for me?
@@anthonyorlando1418 yes, good combo!
Bought them yesterday heels started bleeding.. starting to regret the shoes now i was planning on getting different colors
The X1s? The boot is brutal for that - I legit had blisters for a week after testing them. Super unfortunate and I’m sorry you have a similar experience 😕
@@thatfitfriend thanks for the reply i read alot if reviews and comments from people that had the exact same issue but i ignored it cuz i liked the design.. u said u had a break in period so u continually worr them for that whole week?
@@youngjabelz88 yeah, I wore longer socks and used them for multiple workouts and it gets a bit better. Not perfect, but your skin adapts and the heel breaks in a bit more. However, still far from ideal though!
@@thatfitfriend i tried on a bandaid and it helped significantly hopefully it breaks in ima try it for a few days I bought the grits and wanted the les mills one.. but i see the nano x on sale on reebok buy one get one for 10$ man that’s intriguing
@@youngjabelz88 I think you should be better off after a few sessions, but do note, not perfect. Hah, dang...The Xs are a solid model 👀
For Crossfit is Nano X
For HIIT is Nano X1
Can’t run in my nano at all way too flat
Just bought some X1’s because my 10’s had a hole in the toe. AND, I HATE THE X1’s… the heel is a MOFO!
Regular X1 is meh - the Adventure is the iteration to rock if you’re grabbing them! They (your current shoes) should break in for you after a few sessions….but I do not envy your Achilles right now and know that feel,
X1 -- the heel curves in and will dig your achilles. Horrible shoe.
Weakest Nano to date ferrr sure
Nano x1 is wish shoes 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Nano x is better
