He said, “call the f***ing foul.” The rules literally state that the refs cannot eject a player for use of a cuss word, but this ref went beyond the regulations and did so anyways.

Nordic? Can agree with you on nor ejecting someone because they cussed. However, my understanding is that he called the ref a name, which could be considered verbal abuse or an official. Thar can get you a T and an ejection in basketball. It can get you flagged and possibly tossed in football. It can get you tossed by an umpire in baseball. Basketball refs give more leeway than the other sports with baseball having the least tolerance. Football is the most punitive in that the penalized ayer costs his team 15 precious yards.
Refs can and have given techs for players cussing at them, a straight ejection, no.

Joker didn't get ejected after a technical, that would have made more sense. The ref just straight up ejected him without giving him his first tech. That doesn't make sense.

In soccer they have league tables for referees, based on correctness of calls. And the best refs get the biggest games. The worst refs get demoted to lower leagues.
Genuinely good that refs are doing stuff this dumb, it's making it a focal point of the NBA this season with the media, and fans will get sick of it enough to hopefully voice a strong enough opinion that the league has to acknowledge it. Fine and suspend refs for unnecessary calls.

The ref that ejected Jokic has ejected Terence Mann and Butler this season too. All 3 very soft ejections. Mousa Dagher is clearly not emotionally stable enough to referee NBA games.

If you’re the kinda ref to eject the best player in the world because of your feelings then it’s a safe assumption whatever Joker called him was probably true and accurate.
it wasn't like he was commenting on his manhood. It was jus a hyper-aggressive comment like every other player does in the league. A single tech would've been justified. A second tech if he kept going. Not a instant ejection. The league needs to investigate into these ejection calls. If the reasoning was justifiable, then fine the player, however if it wasn't then the ref needs to be held accountable. Title is insanely misleading, nobody with an elementary school level proficiency in english would see the interview and deduce that jokic was saying that he "crossed the line", it was totally taken out of the context.
Notice how espn leaves out the nuance... that jokic had just been called for a ticky tack foul.

Mahomes was fine the game before but 2 games back to back and you LOSE... Jokic didnt lose and he was wrong for what he did. He caused himself to get ejected.
I'm advocating for the NBA to offer an uncensored channel via NBA League Pass Premium that allows fans to listen to the audio on the floor each game. Maybe Joker said something out of line but we'll never know for sure what.
Might help to justify (or rightly condemn) these refs' calls. We just get a pantomimed take of the situations. It doesn't help to not know what truly happened.

He admitted he crossed the "line". I have no idea what that line is, but I have heard and seen hundreds of guys say "that's bullsnit" about a call and almost never a tech. He must have said something personal, like an insult or threat. That has to be stopped. The refs need to do their job and call the obvious fouls. If they miss one, it is going to be OK. What seems to be happening here is that Joker is being defended differently and the calls are not keeping up with it. He is so clever you have to foul him to keep him from scoring. The bet the defense is making is that they will not call all of the fouls they are committing. The refs for some reason are letting quite a lot go. That is the take away on this. There is a thing in the U.S. While on your rise to be a hero everyone is rooting for you. Once you get there a lot of people start rooting for your fall. This seems to be a culture wide thing. The refs seem to be on the leading edge of this at the moment.
