I’m just not really sure what can be done to excite folks. The game just doesn’t seem that interesting. Its only draw was that a streamer was the face behind it (and even that was a bit divisive since disrespect was controversial, even before the last week)
The game itself seems dull. Weapon sandbox design seems generic and uninspired, movement looks boilerplate and unoriginal, the NFTs are an instant-NO and the Snapchat idea robbed the game of any momentum it had.
It just seems boring as a game. What it offers can be found in games already out.
Wouldn't be surprised if midnight society pivots and reworks deadrop into a different game with a new name. The vertical extraction shooter idea was doc's and I could see them trying to distance themselves from him as much as possible.
Unfortunately the whole situation def killed any excitement for this game it's also Docs vision so now it's completely going to be without a final idea not a good thing at all for deadrop
The basic concept was an idea of his but he was never in charge of it's development. Quinn Delhoyo is the Creative Director of the game. If you're unfamiliar, Directors and Creative Directors generally lead the way on the actual development of videogames.
@@midnightmayorthat’s not a W, unfortunately. Quinn was in charge of some of the worst parts of 343’s era of Halo and before that, he was in charge of Gears of War judgement’s MP and control change.. the worst parts of that game.

The game is not even in Early Access yet. It's actively in development. You shouldn't just a game by WIP test builds.
Call it whatever you like, but if you are selling it and people are playing it, it’s in “early access” and people will make judgements about the game
@@midnightmayor Of course it's in early access. People have access to it early whilst it's being actively developed. The whole point of early access is to raise funds to further develop the game and receive community feedback on how to improve existing features. No need to complicate thing's here and people will judge a game however they like, they paid for it even if it is an early build.
Look at Star Citizen, the game has raised a ton of money and has a loyal community who want to see the game succeed for obvious reasons. Even if it is a frustratingly buggy mess. I don't need to say much about Deadrop, people can and will make their own minds up.
This game looks like ones people come ip with in those "i made a game in 15 minutes" challenge. It looks awful.

Well done video Major. Yes very unfortunate with what has transpired but I've been a founder a supporter and a believer in Deadrop since day one. That will never change. You release it a year or two from now when its long forgotten. On Steam. For $4.99. You try to use social media and Reddit to promote for cheap. Doesn't work. You them start bringing up Doc for no real reason aside from attention. Doesn't work. Game dies.
I always felt people just bought in to this to get a closer chance of playing with the Doc. If the game ends up mediocre, people will say, oh well that's because you didn't have Doc telling you what to do to make the perfect game. It's probably the only win for Doc in all this

Doc wasn’t doing much for the game… just promoting it. They can pay other streamers to play the game at launch. If the game lacks content and isn’t fully optimized at launch it will be DOA.

I agree with what you said in this video. I get why people think the game "is dead" even though the devs/team haven't halted development of the game. Honestly, looking forward to seeing what this game looks like without Doc. It's going to be a long road before the dust has truly settled imo. But either way valid points.

Regardless of my personal opinions on the situation with the 2X, I feel good about the direction of Midnight Society and I absolutely cannot wait for this to come out for PS5 testing, because I will play the complete heck out of this. I’m excited to be able finally join you all in game mode events and general playing.
Midnight will get through this, and it’s our job as Variants and Founders pass holders to assist the studio and ensure that it does.
