Man, I’ve been playing guitar (recreational) for about 21 years... Never have I ever seen someone teach a song this good. The way you embrace obvious mistakes while learning the picking pattern (hitting the wrong string, but just keep playing cause it will sound good), I just wish you were on youtube back in ‘99. Big thumbs up, I’m subscribing :)

I’ve seen multiple other lessons on this, but really confusing because they didn’t identify the chords, but rather single notes. Now I can just know the pattern and play the chords. Bravo Shane. Plus I am a permanent member of your Patreon because I believe in supporting a creator.
Can you put part of this into a looper and play the lead on top of the flat picking part?

Living in the states, Michigan now,Tn.,Ga,GA, the past, having grandparents from the southern U.S.,I know alot of Southern Rock tunes.
    Listened to it for years.
Close to my heart and soul. I don't know if hearing it for years and trying to play it on guitar later make a difference in dynamics, but it seems so.Not as mechanical,.
A good classic tune,to learn, none the less,Sir Shane.

There ain’t NO WAY that G string will ring with me fretting a C chord. I’ve been trying for months to not mute the G and D string while fretting a C chord. My middle finger actually contacts three strings at once.

I'm a beginner myself, but one thing you might be able to try is moving your middle finger up toward the A string a little bit. It doesn't matter if it touches the A string during the C chord because you are fretting it with your ring finger in the third fret anyway. See if that helps!

Awesome lesson. 1,200 likes and over 34,000 views. Yet 20 people decide that for some reason it makes sense to go ahead and hit that thumbs down button. WTF?
