It's funny we all start out frustrated with our fret hand trying to form chords and run scales. After a while you find yourself closing your eyes and hitting the chords and running scales with your fret hand. It's the strumming and picking hand that never stops evolving. It's the strumming hand that shapes the sound and expresses same chords differently. The coolest thing about the guitar is you never really master it. The guitar still has secrets it keeps just waiting to be discovered. A never ending puzzle with countless ways to play the same chords.
Been playing guitar since I was 12ish now 57....was just thinking this the other day! The guitar is a never ending friendship, with it you are never alone.
Thank you Brendan - so great to hear from you and I really appreciate the comment. Hope all is well across the pond - my best to you and yours lad! Shane
The thing I love most about this channel are the play-alongs. They really drive home the lesson. It's a unique feature of this channel that most other channels don't do. Thanks!
Another fantastic lesson. Ahhhhh....Saturday mornin' a cup Joe, Pink Floyd and my pal Shane.....yeah, you could say I'm pretty comfortaby.....numb...thank you sir...
You remind me of a line from Midnight Cowboy...."you've got a way of putting things earthy so that anybody can understand them" it's an absolute privilege to get guitar lessons from someone as musical as you
I' ve spent this saturday evening with this lesson. Shane, Y O U A R E T H E M A N ! Ther's no better teacher in the WWW !! Greetings and compliments from LA Germany "HUB"
After just one watch I know have finally found someone I'm happy to use to get better. Fantastic tuition and not annoying like many other teachers on youtube.
I'm a self-taught looong time late-beginner, I can play barre chords pretty clean with a proper technique, I do not wrap my thumb above the fretboard it is placed nice and tidy directly behind BUT the muscle between my thumb and index finger always gets so tense, almost to a point of painful cramp. That one little advise you've given around 2:00 I think will solve it; place the thumb little bit even lower. I've watched countless beginner-intermediate guitar lessons online but never heard such a subtle but effective correction recommendation. They always mention the proper way of placing the thumb behind but lowering it a little bit more with that wrist angle, never heard. Thank you dear, sir. You've helped this chronic beginner a lot.
Wow, thanks so much!! I’m a beginner and my B Minor barre has been a struggle. All the advice in this video about playing Bm and daily practice has now enabled me to play my favorite Pink Floyd song. TYSM!!
This has been hands down my favorite guitar instruction yet. Awesome song, greatly taught, so much fun to play and sing with! Thank you very much for putting this out here for all to learn and enjoy! Very well done!
Absolutely love your enthusiasm and the way you explain everything. You make it all sound so logical and natural. Many, many thanks for all the effort you put into making these videos.
I loved the play along at the end!! This way you did the lesson was absolutely PERFECT. Please please please keep this structure for your lessons. I really like a full play along after the actual lesson with your little reminders as opposed to a mini demo in the beginning. Playing the whole thing with you, I was feeling good about the Bm. I’m still slow at switching between the barre and open chords, but I can make the barre chords ring out now every time or if I mess up, I can get my fingers right and fix it. Your Bm video specifically helped me A LOT with all the barre chords, so thanks for that! I can’t get enough of your lessons.
Your lesson completely catches the „spirit“ of the famous song. Congrats! It´s one of my all time favourites, having been now a big fan of Pink Floyd since 1978. Keep on teaching in your style, it´s marvellous. Thanks!
Great lesson Shane. You make that Taylor sound so good. With the Beat Buddy setting the tempo, you have a winner combo. Thanks for all your hard work and motivation.
One of my favorite songs of all time. And as a guitar player, this song was truly instrumental in in helping me become fluid in my soloing. It's still my "go to" for warming up. The tempo is slow enough, and the techniques simple enough, that makes it a great song for practicing your improv soloing over the Bm pentatonic.
Guitar At Work; Awesome rendition of this great song, and I particularly value your passion to teach giving comfort to the learner that it's alright to not get the song note for note, not until one "monkeys" ;) with the notes for a while until one gets the feel!
Hey Shane, I remember us celebrating your 20k subscribers. Very happy to see that you are close to reaching 150k!!!!!!!!! You deserve it, you have a great channel. Success!
Absolutely hands down BEST guitar tutorial instruction Ive ever seen and heard. Damn that Taylor sounds amazing. Thanks for this, cant wait to dig in on this.
Hey Shane, I just got myself a Beat Buddy and I love it. Thanks for introducing me to this wonderful virtual drummer. I love the way you take us through the songs. It makes it easy to learn.
Great teacher Am on the road to picking the guitar after many years .. am improving beginner but you made me play the rhythm so quick was a great feeling.. Thank you Now to the vocals my main domain 😅
what a great video/lesson! New to your channel, but def subbed. Well explained, fun to play along with (thanks for calling out the next chord, so helpful!) and to learn the little added embellishments. Such a great song.
I agree with all the comments. You teach with such enthusiasm and with great detail but so easy to follow. I only wish I could find a guitar teacher with your style. They’re hard to come by.
Excellent! This saves me a ton of work. This is a standby. I'm trying to build a full set. I started trying to write songs before I could really play. I realized that learning covers teaches me to play and write. FYI Don't buy a stand alone drum machine. It won't sync with a looper. Buy the pedal that does both.
Your enthusiasm is infectious and makes learning a whole lot more fun. Love the live with your mistakes bit too.. Cos they're going to happen. Great channel

Thanks Shane! I love how you teach. Great teacher. I play electric now and I love your set up with the beat buddy and the looper. Wondering about it fittting on my pedal board.. and where the beat buddy would go, maybe before the looper?
Thanks Julie - so glad you're enjoying. I always have fun making these videos and it's great to hear from people who are watching. Ideally, the Beatbuddy and the looper get outputted separately. Cheers, Shane
Good one thanks! Got an idea the other day. iTunes and RUclips Music has the lyrics that highlights what words are being sung. Using the Beat Buddy set to the bpm of the record I start the tune on RUclips Music with the sound down and the lyrics are there in larger font and highlighted sort of like karaoke. For practice at least. If ya can’t see small font on a phone. Thanks 🤙🤙
