Gabe bless the modders of Valve games in particular. What they do to give life and love to old games that Valve has seemingly left behind is incredible. Good luck, Bez!
It did soured my view on the game after the custom radio commands were disabled, since it is useful in communicating and callout making in a typical disastrous lobby. (As well as a primarily foreign language speaking one) My muscle memory on using the Z, X, and C keys to bring up the radio menu since CS 1.6 no longer serves it’s full potential and the radial marker menu is just to clunky for me to effectively utilise when the pace had increased and having your viewpoint occluded and staring at a specific angle just to properly give a callout could easily had been improved and supplemented by updating the standard in-game radio commands, but alas, they are to remain as dreams forevermore.
Cool video, Might be worth it for Bez to go back to Condition Zero to look at the bot AI there as that's where it was originally developed. I know from experience that the regular campaign mode (Not deleted scenes) does have bots saying things like "I hear something" when enemies are nearby (No shots fired yet). So there may be differences between that game and source/go that he can look to exploit.
Would've been cool to add the ability to see which bot is talking, like Condition Zero had as I sometimes don't hear their callouts. But still awesome that they're chatting and spotting in real time, huge improvement over the original CSGO bots!
I like how Philip is slowly becoming some about-cs-media guy. Keep it up mad lad, I guess only you can keep finding this golden nuggets in (inho) oversaturated with clips comunity.
8:12 this is probably because CSGO began life as a CSS Xbox port and then shortly after they just decided to say “fuck it let’s make a new counter strike game” and then GO was born (funny how CSGO was made for consoles but the console port hasn’t been updated in nearly a decade)
Actually in rare cases, sometimes bots do swap weapons with players. If i throw AWP for example to bot who has AK/M4, he will trade it to that AWP. Funny little thing noticed when i was just goofing around in my own server.
I'm not entirely sure how this works, but they also sometimes drop weapons that were picked up while a player controlled them then buy their own preferred weapon.
Yeah but not guardian gamemode bots, that's the key. Normal competitive bots will swap weapons but they don't have the ability to do the grenade setup throws and advanced strats that bez is implementing
I hope for the day where "bots" can 'learn' from player demos in a supervised manner or self supervised reinforcement environment. Perhaps even have a level of inter agent communication. Which i believe is the most interesting part of such a problem.
Perhaps the AI should be given the privilege to remember which site the enemy went to before and make an assumption of where they will strike next based on that fact? If that is even possible.
As someone who at this point has played hundreds and hundreds of bot matches, it's amazing to see progress towards making the bots behaviors better. While you can change settings in the botprofile to make their aim faster and get more difficult bots who can gun you down instantly or do a 180 and kill you across the map with an awp, it is rather unfortunate they have so many shortcomings. One thing I always make sure is that bot_allow_grenades is at 0, otherwise they like to just hold them until they see an enemy which will get them killed with the reaction time changes made to them. Another problem is simply that they are set to aim for center of mass, in this case they very frequently lock onto the pelvic region of enemies, which doesn't allow them to have consistent good fights on ramps or headshot angles. The last thing they are also bad at is clearing sites, no matter what if they run to the wrong bombsite, they still have to clear it, but will always walk into the correct bombsite even if it was the first choice, and that need to physically touch the site to figure out its the wrong one can waste a load of time, especially on large maps such as old cache (haven't used bots on the new one) which in turn has lead me to also always use mp_c4timer 60 instead of 40. So seeing that it could well be possible that bots could do their best at using utility and aiming for headshots, and properly holding and taking sites has me excited. It would be truly wonderful to one day see a match when both sides could craft plans and smoke sites, flash out and hit nice shots, with no hiccups and running perfectly. Great video 3kliks P.S The bots get stuck on the stairs in sparity spawn occasionally.

Bots in CSGO have been always bad and finally there's someone talented enough to fix such problem. This is for sure good news.

When the bots in Retake modes realize its time to retake A, not B, AS you informed by HUD...
btw, these kinda mods must help communitiy retake/execute server/map. I cant wait
Great work. The only thing I wonder, why if you have such a specific knowledge such as Bez and obviously on a superior level to the average valve bot programmer. Why did Bez not start officially work for Valve?
I miss the bots in MM having a bot like this would be amazing lol
Bots in CSGO have been always bad and finally there's someone talented enough to fix such problem. Bots for CS1.6, CS Condition Zero and CS Source were almost perfect and not to mention PODBots for earlier versions of Counter-Strike were good as well in comparison to what we have in CSGO. This is for sure good news.
the bots in cs 1.6/cz simply just cheated, basically aimbot level.
@@queuedjar4578 CS Source bots are the ones that have aimbot. CZ / 1.6 bots are fine.
@@queuedjar4578 1.6 do not has bot support originally, it was cs source bot that first make cs also a single player game (if you enjoy playing with them). The people make source bot then got hired by valve to make one for 1.6 along with cz. Source expert bots aimbot is much stronger than 1.6 and cz bots also their hearing is like super human, they can hear you shooting anywhere on the map even with a suppressed usp or m4a1.
@@yuyutopt that is true but I have to mention the bots that were specifically made (ported) for 1.6. They were somewhat a downgraded version of the ones available for Condition Zero because they have a slightly different working behavior.
Interesting work, I imagine these bots could probably verse everyone in silver and maybe nova 1s.
Silvers will probably push the bots mid setup with a P90 and wipe them. :)
Yes Phillip. That's definitely how much an inch is
Humbley requesting that video on the agents you mentioned near the end.
4:18 typo in the subs: "Bez has HAD to enable unsolid teammates tin order"
7:21 ROFL
What's the song at 6:46?
So when Source 2 comes out, we'll have better bots since they're rebuilding everything?
It's nice to see bots getting attention even though they were removed from matchmaking I still play offline on workshop maps and it's always quite boring to see all five bots always going on the same site and feel not consistent, sometimes they know too much sometimes not. Sometimes their aim is just out of this world and sometimes they can't hit even though I'm five centimeters away. Hope this kind of work is noticed by valve and they improve bots. Well I would rather see them fix other issues but if they have time then why not.
I do feel you should've called Bezimienny Bezi for short. most Polish people older than like... 15 would probably love that and it would remind them of a fun time in early years of polish youtube
I never had fun with bots since PoD bots were a thing. They were FAR superior than whatever CZ made. Maybe this will finally be something to have fun playing with
Fascinating stuff!
