I remember that each map had its own extra file with the bots' waypoints and navigation data. You could download these files from the internet. However, not all maps had waypoint files, especially the custom maps. So, I learned how to create these type of files, mostly by running around the map and manually adding the waypoints. I remember there were different types of waypoints: for normal running, for jumping, crouching, camping etc. You could really make the bots navigate difficult spots if you had the patience. Though it was for nothing, because when they engaged in combat the bots ignored waypoints completely, so they always ended up falling off roofs, cliffs etc.

I like how Philip is slowly becoming some about-cs-media guy. Keep it up mad lad, I guess only you can keep finding this golden nuggets in (inho) oversaturated with clips comunity.
I hope for the day where "bots" can 'learn' from player demos in a supervised manner or self supervised reinforcement environment. Perhaps even have a level of inter agent communication. Which i believe is the most interesting part of such a problem.
Question, so when bomb is show in feet. Does that work for comp too ? Or is any limb on a “ player “ that holds bomb gets displayed on the map when anything of there characters is seen?
Gabe bless the modders of Valve games in particular. What they do to give life and love to old games that Valve has seemingly left behind is incredible. Good luck, Bez!
Yeah, I used to spam the shit out of them while playing. Always made me laugh if other players joined in, made me enjoy the game even if I were on the losing team, lol!!
Question, why does it take so long to draw a weapon in Counter Strike? In almost every other game, you draw your weapons ready to fire unless the gun is empty and it is done very quickly. In CS, you run out of ammo or your current weapon is inappropriate for the current situation, you are fucked since getting hit prevents slows you down tremendously and changing weapons takes ages. This is also not an engine limitation since OG Half Life and Half Life 2 + expansions doesn’t have this issue and allows you to switch weapons instantly. Why implement this feature into the game?
To punish bad ammo management/indecision, probably. It also slows your movement if you jump/crouch too many times too fast, punches your aim and slows you down if you get hit, and kills your accuracy if you don't stand still. In short, it's a game that encourages a way of combat by punishing ways of playing that don't fit with the fast-reaction, low-movement combat it wants you to use.
i already love this guys, i'm enjoying csgo but just playing vs bots, but Valve decided that bot can be playing only in regular maps...but they are BAD, now i'm able to play in Danger Zone, in Regular maps with cool stuff, like lineup, egal more challenge to the player !!!
A 'professional' difficulty/training mode for 5v5 comp with this AI would be an awesome addition to the game for team practice. Also riot shields in comp!
As someone who at this point has played hundreds and hundreds of bot matches, it's amazing to see progress towards making the bots behaviors better. While you can change settings in the botprofile to make their aim faster and get more difficult bots who can gun you down instantly or do a 180 and kill you across the map with an awp, it is rather unfortunate they have so many shortcomings. One thing I always make sure is that bot_allow_grenades is at 0, otherwise they like to just hold them until they see an enemy which will get them killed with the reaction time changes made to them. Another problem is simply that they are set to aim for center of mass, in this case they very frequently lock onto the pelvic region of enemies, which doesn't allow them to have consistent good fights on ramps or headshot angles. The last thing they are also bad at is clearing sites, no matter what if they run to the wrong bombsite, they still have to clear it, but will always walk into the correct bombsite even if it was the first choice, and that need to physically touch the site to figure out its the wrong one can waste a load of time, especially on large maps such as old cache (haven't used bots on the new one) which in turn has lead me to also always use mp_c4timer 60 instead of 40. So seeing that it could well be possible that bots could do their best at using utility and aiming for headshots, and properly holding and taking sites has me excited. It would be truly wonderful to one day see a match when both sides could craft plans and smoke sites, flash out and hit nice shots, with no hiccups and running perfectly. Great video 3kliks P.S The bots get stuck on the stairs in sparity spawn occasionally.
So all those amazing voice lines valve recorded are unused cause they couldn't be bothered to touch up a text file from source?? God that's such a shame

I like how Philip is slowly becoming some about-cs-media guy. Keep it up mad lad, I guess only you can keep finding this golden nuggets in (inho) oversaturated with clips comunity.
I need the whole agent personality video, and also the BOT that bez makes.
I'm still sad over the moan commands being disabled
A
Of course it was made by a furry hahahaha
I removed my knee in protest
Quite foolish…
I hope for the day where "bots" can 'learn' from player demos in a supervised manner or self supervised reinforcement environment. Perhaps even have a level of inter agent communication. Which i believe is the most interesting part of such a problem.
7:21 whats the name of the song? ö
Nice. I hope to see something like this available for both CS 1.6 and CSS in the near future.
How to set timer of grenades in script?
If I want to change detonation time from 4 to 14 seconds, is that possible in source / source 2?
Valve should get Bezimienny to do the bots for cs2
Interesting how there is a hotspot on the timeline every time Bez's profile picture is shown.
Question, so when bomb is show in feet. Does that work for comp too ? Or is any limb on a “ player “ that holds bomb gets displayed on the map when anything of there characters is seen?
As a mapper and perpetual aim-trainer with zero social confidence, I play with bots more than most. This is freaking awesome and Bez is a legend.
So when Source 2 comes out, we'll have better bots since they're rebuilding everything?
why do valve bots aim and shoot at the crotch. podbot never did this.
Gabe bless the modders of Valve games in particular. What they do to give life and love to old games that Valve has seemingly left behind is incredible. Good luck, Bez!
Its really sad that CSGO disabled agent voice commands. There are 100's of agent voice lines that cant be used.
Those bots are better than my teammates in solo queue :P
my guy just called variables commands, painful
I like how you call him bez xd
I swear furries can help us achieve light speed travel or something.
I have question, When going to "practice with bots" the Danger zone is locked but there is a bar loading when you touch on it, what does that do?
G...
i already love this guys, i'm enjoying csgo but just playing vs bots, but Valve decided that bot can be playing only in regular maps...but they are BAD, now i'm able to play in Danger Zone, in Regular maps with cool stuff, like lineup, egal more challenge to the player !!!
Can bots use revolver? Or will they just start and cancel left mouse click fire?
Great video 3kliks
P.S The bots get stuck on the stairs in sparity spawn occasionally.
I'd love to see a video about the history of PODBot... The original bots in 1.5/1.6(i don't even remember anymore)
We NEED Bez's bits 2023
So all those amazing voice lines valve recorded are unused cause they couldn't be bothered to touch up a text file from source??
God that's such a shame
yikes a furry
Jeezus, similar to the Hammer++ video I am already in dire need of experiencing the way better modded thing over the default vanilla only a few features in
*BOT Jeff sending regards*
This video reminds me of the bots in cs 1.6 and how smart they were. They had different skills and strategies, and some were noobs while the others were great. They played like real humans. They reacted differently to recoil and attacks while keeping the objective as a priority. They also could contact each other and follow orders (and break them too) like real humans. That's why I still think that the bots in 1.6 were the best bots I've ever seen
"Hold This Position"
"No" *rushes mid and dies*
Sigma bot grindset
Bots are officially a better team than randoms at this point. So glad valve removed bot support when someone disconnects...
Finally, the bots will stop spamming "plant/defuse, I'll cover" while not even being near the site.
Interesting work, I imagine these bots could probably verse everyone in silver and maybe nova 1s.
Silvers will probably push the bots mid setup with a P90 and wipe them. :)
Sounds like a story of developing CPMA bots for Quake 3 in early 2000's. Same problems same solutions.
0:40 ofc the polish guy is a furry
Oh no now the skill floor is raised, I might actually be worse than bots!
7:22 made me laugh really hard for a while, thank you 😂💀
Maybe they'll be better now?
Did I miss something? I swear valve put in the ability for bots to throw utility setups for one of the recent operations
Anybody know the song at 12:00
