@@MusicbyKRI think most Lennon fans will be interested in an album containing all of Lennon’s unfinished songs (e.g. Free as a Bird, Now and Then, etc.). It can also contain previously unreleased takes of his finished/released songs.

What “normal issues”?
This is John at his best-raw, mournful, authentic. He sang about what it means to be human. Paul’s upbeat version is appropriately Beatle-esque but it lacks the beautifully haunting melody of this version that hits you in your soul. Miss you, John.
How horrifying we lost John to an assassin. It seems his ghost is singing here.

I am speechless, when it comes to this level, I just can't say anything about this masterpiece. This is beyond the average songs you listen everyday, John Lennon and Paul McCartney will always touch my soul and bring nothing but tears to my eyes. The greatest songwriters in history, not Bob Dylan, not Freddie Mercury, only them two.
There's something so beautfully haunting about this version....

After the assassination of JFK when the Beatles were first heard on the radio waves the music made me go through like a crazy cat going through rooms after being pent up inside a house for far too long
Now and then is probably the best example of how the Lennon-McCartney partnership worked. One would write a basic sketch of a song and the other would refine it with there own idea’s. Hey Jude is probably the next best example of this imo (of course with the roles being reversed.)
I’m really glad they waited on this one. George was probably right at the time that they couldn’t make it work with 90’s technology, but I think the final release and the changes work for the best.

Paul deleted John's middle eight verse "I don't want to lose you, etc..." which was very good. But I can hear John singing out of key so maybe that's why it got ditched.
He pushed his voice to the max. He wasn’t afraid to go for the difficult notes outside his range. He knew how he wanted it to sound and reached for it. Practice, practice.

I think Paul took it out to change the whole meaning of the song.. to relate to what he's feeling missing being in the beatles. And john obviously wrote this as a love song..
Messed up to take John's song and take anything out of it.... the original is already perfect... it really adds to the emotion and capturing a place and time.
@@lillydamil1139 Your explanation is totally right on. A Lennon love song filled with angst and delicacy was transformed into a "We Miss the Beatles" finale. Paul did that. And still, there was only a single demo to work from. If Lennon continued to polish the vocals his range would have been perfect, as every Beatles song sounded.
@@Givmelibertyordeth1776 John didn't really sing out of key but he ran out of breath singing that deleted verse. If he had continued more takes, like every Beatles song was crafted, he would have hit those notes with the proper power. This was a one time demo and that's all they were left to work with.

It seems to me that this demo is NOT the one that Paul received. Here, in the chorus, John flubs the final lines, "I want you to be there for me / Always to return to me", whereas on the Beatles' official version, the lines are sung properly. This wouldn't surprise me given that there's also two versions of 'Real Love' -- In that song, the opening line in the Lennon Anthology demo says "Gone like some forgotten dream" while The Beatles' release has it as "Lost like some forgotten dream".
That, or else AI was used more than we were told and the chorus was indeed generated by this so-called AI.
You might be right but then again Paul is more than capable of singing along with John's voice to beef it up a little.

I prefer all the original masters of free as a bird, real love and this. They hold more emotion, and are more dreary on Lennon’s recordings, mainly because he was considered the gloomy songwriter of the group.
I agree, I feel the drums added into Now and Then retracts from the song, I feel all the song needs is John’s voice, his piano and perhaps some bass for some emphasis on certain notes
But the guitar is so good! And the harmonies!(In free as a bird and real love)
All three original demos should be released together.

Ashamed to say I didn't know all the backstory ...thought the quality of the tape was worse than this.
The remaining 2 done a perfect job on this leaving out the i dont want to lose you no etc i think lennon himself had that as a filler until he thought of something better i thiught that bit wasnt fitting years sgo when i first heard the demo it shows they still know what their doing when it was released i waa hoping theyd left it out or i would of cringed its a rubbish part and lennon would of agreed

So we go from this demo made by John Lennon in 1977 to George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr trying to finish it with it being one of the three demos that Yoko Ono (Lennon’s Wife) gave to them but they only finished two for the anthology series in 1995 (The two being Free as a bird and True Love) due to the demo being unfinished to Paul and Ringo (George died 21 years prior) finishing it with the technological advancement of Artificial Intelligence with an AI voice for John Lennon still keeping the quality of the vocals but making it louder, also including the parts with George Harrison and his guitar that were recorded in 1995, Paul Finishes the bass line, Ringo and Paul help the AI voice of John by singing with it and eventually in 2022 they finished it and released it a year later
Where did you get it?
It's eerie to me, but then again this was a demo in his apartment. I think they made the right choice of leaving out that one part. His vocal wasn't great and that section needed more work. But it would have been great to have given the entire thing the AI treatment as a B-side.
It annoys me that they act like they can't assume what he's going to say when he's bumbling and made it another McCartney love song

John's voice in all natural and subtle harmonization. Original version is far better than the stupid shit cooked in studios for commercial reasons.

original is better. i love honestly both. but the one ringo and Paul did was magical too. they changed the context of the song doing now and then. George and john are the then forever young and forever in hearts, paul and ringo are the now. they grew old, remorseful and missing their buddies. its still beautiful and makes me cry for both. the original is magical and i absolutely love where john does that whole i don't wanna lose you part. its perfect to me.
