Table tops or large exposed flat areas (doors, wide furniture pieces, big cabinets, etc): YES! Other stuff, not so much. It doesn’t matter until it does, and it’s very hard to predict which pieces will show a difference.
Yeah the pre-stain wood conditioner does work but it's expensive. You can get the same results without any flaws in it by water popping and water doesn't cost a penny unless you want to put a little denatured alcohol in it so it will evaporate quicker.
Hi guys much better with conditioner as it seems to make it look more alive & there's more going on on the wood, thanks for letting us know how to beautify our wood to make it pop, good luck on future projects so please keep it coming coming from Dulwich London England (✌️peace ✌️)
I plan to use conditioner on my oak ice box end tables just because I'm a perfectionist and want to know it will be even. Everyone seems to say don't worry about using it on oak, since it's a hardwood. I'm doing it. Thoughts?
Hi. AGREED! And it's not because you're old! I'm not, it's just a good quality video production otherwise RUINED by an AWFUL music track. Such a shame! ☹ Otherwise it was good.
Great video, I prefer without the conditioner…..it’s nice to see when things aren’t uniform.
Excellent explanation thank you very much from Monterrey Mexico

The conditioner depends on the stain and finish you want. I have done many pieces without conditioner because it would not transition as well.

All depends if you want it lighter or darker on your project,
Do you use water or oil based stains? Want to refinish my father’s oak desk this winter. Any recommendations for refinishing pine?

I've done Hardwood flooing for 25 years. Its about the same thing as water popping?
Cmon the music didn’t work
Conditioner good! 👍🏼
No sanding sealer ?
The music is to loud in background. It’s distracting
a washcoat of dewaxed shellac and lacquer thinner is even better to prevent splotching in your softer woods.
Do you mean that you wipe down(wash coat) the wood that will be stained with lacquer thinner once?
Note water can be used as a conditioner too.
Good video but I hope these days you're not leaving the music blaring in the background!
Without
Is it oil or water base ?
That music while you are speaking is horrible
Do you use oil or water based conditioner?
Awesome video. :)
I'm an old guy with poor hearing. Sorry to say that the music is very distracting, making it difficult to hear your voice.
