Groove joint pliers did the trick without much fuss going on or off without having the specialty tool for the hose clamp. Side note, thank you for the video. Really helped out today. Although I didn't know about bleeding the sir out so I had to watch other videos for that. But good deal, excellent resource to get this taken care of.
I really wanted to be as thorough as possible for the whole job, but I flushed the cooling system a couple months prior to this and it was more of a pain than I expected, then the radiator sprung a leak, and then my water pump blew. I had to do lots of coolant draining/filling over those couple months and I was just sick of doing the work and filming it only multiplies the length of the project. I wanted to help and show that, but I was just tired and wanted to get the job done.
I did the lower radiator hose on mine from below without removing the upper hose and it was the biggest pain even with the specialty clamp pliers. I hope I never have to do the lower hose again. Excellent video.
These clamps are literally the worst 😂 Don’t get me wrong though, they are the best at keeping the hoses secured and leak free from expanding and contracting but damn are they the bane of my existence. It’s crazy to think that one clamp, a couple grams of metal, can take the fun out of all an entire job.
You made it look easy! My water pump went at 30k [under warranty] next one is on me. I've lost that ACC bezel twice! Cost me $23 at the dealer but luckily the 2nd time, I found it 2 days later in a snow bank I parked into at the East Side Club. I have a small black zip tie on it now.

I have your trucks twin sister, same color and interior, 2014 with 52k and the water pump began leaking coolant. Your video was great I wish you had included the coolant refill part just to make it dummy proof, thanks for the help. Btw, I am also missing the plastic part for the adaptive cruise control sensor, I wonder if that’s the reason why it shows me a message saying I have to clean the sensor. Let this be my second attempt at replying to you with hopes that I don't mistakenly reload the page without saving... 😑 I had a good reply for you too... Okay - so I didn't include a fill process because I was just fed up at that point. While I look cheerful or at least appear to be, I was quite frustrated and had enough with filming. I was frustrated because that was the 3rd time I had to work with the coolant system in this thing in only a couple months. Okay - story time. So I started down this rabbit hole sometime in late 2020 when I wanted to flush the radiator because their was gloppy much near the cap. I bought out all local stores worth of distilled water during covid-lockdown, literally 16 or something gallons worth. Bought a flush cleaner and began draining the coolant, filled it with d-water and cleaner, ran it, drained it, did that a second time, then repeated that a couple more times (without the cleaner) and it never ended up draining clear. The block has all kinds of crooks and nannies (yes, crooks and nannies) that holds the coolant and water and whatnot so it never will fully drain on its own without hooking up a garden hose to it but that isn't distilled water which intime could introduce minerals and stuff that could contaminate the block in long term but anyways. It took me FOR-FRIGGEN-EVER to do this, then I decided to just fill it with coolant to end the night. Then fast forward a little to when my radiator decided to take a piss, I could smell it when I gunned it so I knew something was up. I made two videos of it, I tried fixing it with JB Weld which did nothing (I made a short video of this: ruclips.net/video/nS3I3KXwIMo/видео.html), and then ended up replacing the radiator which was a bitch, I didn't make a how-to video of it but I did make a short 3 min video of me doing the work ruclips.net/video/IffXnRflrFM/видео.html. Basically, if you are looking to fill it, there's a recessed hex bolt (what do they call those? they look like big set screws) that's on the water pump (it's 8mm I believe) it's known as the breather plug and you back that out, fill from the radiator and the air escapes from the breather plug to the point where it just starts to leak from the breather, then plug it. Then squeeeeeeeeeze the shit out of the upper radiator hose and bubbles will come (or should come) out of the of the cap and then you're pretty much good. I found that, when using a coolant filler funnel, air doesn't escape when the radiator filler funnel even when the thermostat opens. The funnel just fills and expands with no bubbles. Okay, so the too long didn't read (TL; DR:): fill it till the coolant comes out of the breather, plug it, run it and you're pretty much good. Woof. If I held your interest through that, cheers man 🍻

I just picked up a 2014 5.7 as well. Water pump exploded 2 days after i got it lol 70K miles. Mine died so bad it start to lock up and was causing me to loose power steering as the belt was slipping.

@@Silvertoburn Dude I got lucky. Not the pump. Previous owner or maybe dealership put after makret hoses that didnt have that center clip. The top hose touched power steering pump and it blew out lol Local dealer had the upper hose in stock. Im good to go now!
If you are not finding evidence of a leak like coolant drip marks under where you park, then you may be consuming the coolant through the headgasket. Check under your oil filler cap and see if it looks like chocolate milk. Draining the oil pan is a sure way to check for a headgasket leak also, if the oil looks like chocolate milk. And white smoke out the tailpipe, but not to be confused with water vapor. You would smell it too if it was leaking, coolant has a sweet smell.
I have QuadraLift (factory air bags) and I made custom links to lower the jeep. The camber is a bit much for the rear at this height I will admit and I should really get adjustable control arms so it can get dialed in better. Tires are OEM size 265/50-20, and wheels are WK SRT Replica wheels, 20x9 with a +34.75mm offset so they sit more flush with the fenders.
when you do water pump, replace alternator if not done within 100000 miles, never reuse old radiator hose and serpentine belt and replace the O ring for heater hose lube O ring with light oil, replace all hose clamps
It was much less than what the research told me, since those numbers are based on a completely drained system. I learned there are cavities inside the block that hold on to coolant and these areas don't drain during a standard coolant drain. There are plugs on the side of the block in a hard to reach area so I ignored these and just continued to flush. That said, It was about 2 gallons of coolant/water to fill it up, but get more coolant than you expect so you aren't left short handed when filling it back up.

I found that, when using a coolant filler funnel, air doesn't escape when the radiator filler funnel even when the thermostat opens. The funnel just fills and expands with no bubbles.
