Shannon, Once you get to the Tascam web page, click on the video tab. There are a few video that show you specifically how to do useful task. I am sure that will make it work for you. Enjoy. :)
I've had my DP008EX for a couple of months now. For recording I've found it very intuitive, the preamps are virtually noiseless and the built in mics are alot better than expected. As far as mixing and mastering goes it is fiddly, but I just export to a computer and use Harrision Mixbus. Overall I'm very happy with the combined results from the DP008EX & Mixbus.
Noah Martin Open the song you want to export, go into the menu and scroll to import/export option, select export single tracks (or something like that) select the individual tracks you export from that song and execute the function (it will take a few minutes for the DP to write it as a wav). Connect your DP to a computer, open it like an external drive, from memory the wav files are in a folder called waves (might be wrong about the name, if I am just look in the other folders).
I no longer have my DP008EX, I upgraded to a DP32SD. The DP008EX does not record in 24bit, (which is one of the reasons I upgraded), I don't know if it will play back 24bit files. Have a look at the manual on the Tascam website.
Awesome video Sir. Thank you 🙏 I see it is 8 years old, but if I'm lucky you'll be able to help me regardless. On my DP-006, once the locator points A & B are set, I can't figure out how to activate the AUTO PUNCH IN/OUT to actually start recording at point A, and stop at point B, like all other Tascam units do. It doesn't seem to work with a foot switch so I really need to figure out the AutoRecord funcrion for the selected segment. Thank you very much for your time.
I've had Tascam for about 3 years. It took a short while to figure out how to use it and I got it down pat, I want to if there's a way I can connect another Tascam to enhance a 16 track ?
I just bought the Tascam DP-008. I didn't realize there was an EX. :( It looks like the difference is mastering effects. Does this mean my tracks are going to be either really quiet or really distorted from lack of compression/normalization? My DP-008 is brand new in box, but I can't return it. Wish I'd known the EX existed. :(
hello mate I have a tascam dp006 recorder I like to how ya mix down get recording to sd card for computer? please explain how you mix to sd card on the tascam dp006 please explain this I don't understand kind regards William c adlam thank you so much for your help mate thanks for the help so much appreciate it mate thanks
Well, I bought a used Korg and it wasn't bad. Just that it used mp2!!! need a Dat recorder for a final product i.e. CD. Do this one have the same problem? need to hook to computer with software to make a song and store on CD?
2018 question: would this work for recording percussion loops? just for fun at home stuff? comments please... also I know nothing about files formats nothing. just want to record and layer rhythms.
Are these pieces of kit still relevant in 2021? (Do people still say, ‘pieces of kit’, in 2021?) seriously tho, I don’t see much of the 008EX these days. Was thinking about getting one….Did they die? Are other, better, cheaper things better?
I have had it for a week and it just sits under my bed,,i still cant figure out how to record any thing, the owners manual is really confusing i have no idea?
EXXXACTLY!!!! I finally called the company and talked to a tech to get the instructions just to get to track 1!! 20+ steps to get to FINALLY track 1!!! I've had mine since last fall and it still sits there. What ever happened to: turn on machine, select track, select volume, hit record, playback track - DONE!! Do the SAME thing with track 2 while listening to track 1 - DONE! You can mix and level tracks later to download to a burner for your final piece. Whatever happened to straight forward recording!!! I had the Sony mini disc x4 and it did just that. I understand the new BOSS BR 80 has LIVE RECORD,which is suppose to do just that - turn it on, select LiveRecord and do your thing. They run $249 average. I'm debating on that one. I dont need all the bells and whistles as I have a keyboard for all that. Just need a machine to record and mix for final burn. Geeze, what a hassle!!
i've done the recording so far so good next step mastering here comes the problem,it says track is too short what the heck is that.why can't they make things easy to operate
Not sure if you've ever resolved this but essentially what you have to do is make sure that the device knows when and where you want it to stop. You can do this from the edit feature. Basically you are marking the seconds where the track begins and where it ends. Once you've done that it will recognize the track as being complete and master it when you tell it to.
Sorry but I can't for the life of me record in stereo. I know tracks 3 and 4 are supposed to be stereo, but all I get is the right channel. Am I supposed to mix it stereo? I just want to record VST plugins played live off my computer while listening to a click track. Is this so hard? I read the manual.
I figured it out finally. I didn't have the right type of jack. I needed a splitter type of cable with two jacks on one end and the single jack on the other. Then you have to set A and B lines from the menu (hope I'm remembering this right) to line-in HIGH, not MIC, and it records just fine It's still not super easy for someone used to recording with software, but it's doable.
tascams been making headache boxes like this for years, manual hard as hell to read and everything ealse , stay away from anything that has virtual tracks , i have had a dp something years ago. also external condenser mic whatever ! just make a phantom power input. they catering to the on the go artist i get it. but i hope you have an engineer to figure out that box and throw some plugins on that mess you just recorded
Thanks for the overview. It really helped to see the product more clearly and have your description.
Bought mine last week and came in this Thursday! :D
Getting the hang of it.. Hopefully it's as good as I thought it would be...
Hi sir,
Could you please tell me how import a instrumental to a tascam dp-006,to then sing over it ?
Shannon, Once you get to the Tascam web page, click on the video tab. There are a few video that show you specifically how to do useful task. I am sure that will make it work for you. Enjoy. :)
How do you turn on volume so you can hear what you are recording through headphones and playback ??????
how do i record a stereo track? Do i use both inputs and that will be exported as a stereo track that can be split up for mixing?
They took out the automatic punch-in from the dp-006 as well as the rehearsal feature.

Hey how do you export to a computer I've found it confusing on how to make the track into ".wav"

Each track has PAN control so how it's mono?
