Great vid. The Off position on the internal mics is useful when creating a master track - otherwise they remain live during the mix down and can pick up noises, particularly if you are adjusting the knobs or holding the case near the mics.
Thank you so much for this video. I was glad to see that the three input levels, low, medium, and high are in effect just either cuts or boosts, and that the actual fine adjustment is done with the input's level control. Thankfully, I don't see any evidence of there being some sort of automatic limiter, which was my number one concern, and is the primary reason why I can't do at least some casual recording using my (Android) phone. Guitar has a built in preamp too, how on earth do I get the input levels higher as in your video? I am at a loss atm to be honest and need some help. Cheers. Andy
I'm attempting to digitize vinyl with my DP-006, would I need to assign my 3/4 channels as A/B for stereo recordings? Does the 1/4 TRS cable being mono effect anything?
Can you not play the music tracks as recorded (drums, bass, etc) you have so far through a headset/speakers while you record the next track to align the timing?
Tried all the steps as shown in this video and another similar video on Tascam dp006. I can see input of audio signal but there is no sound in playback? Help needed what is wrong?
You need to either plug in headphones or a speaker to the side of the Tascam, because it does not have a playback speaker of it's own. (or if this is not the problem, make sure you press both the red record button and the button with an arrow on it when starting a recording)
What a great video!! This is my first recording device and your video was a game changer, easy to understand and well paced for me to keep up with. Is there any way to erase the track you just laid down without erasing the entire song?

If you aren't going to do a lot of processing and are mainly concerned with recording raw tracks, a 006 is adequate. The mic ins are a bit limiting since they are not xlr but that's not a huge deal if you are in a small "studio" environment. Cable runs will be short and interference will be negligent. Plus you can use a $10 DI box to solve that issue if it arises. I like the DP series because it's a bit larger and more user friendly. The newer handheld style models are excellent for portability and features, but they are more difficult to navigate and use. If you are going to record tracks and export them to your friend for mixing and mastering, you have what you need, I'd just add a DI box. Thanks.
@@StudioonaStick Thanks for the input. User friendly is good. I'm sticking with what I've got. If I get serious and also need more tracks I can always upgrade.
