I like your content because you give us the straight facts based on real experiences; Thank you! I have been on the market for a set of 3/4 shallow impacts, after viewing this i think i will get the Sunex set.
I have heard good things on the Sunex. But I also heard good things about the Tekton. I own only a few Sunex items and they have held up well. All the Sunex that I have are 3/4" and 1" drive, and have survived.
@@mlhrepairsllc6942 I will take that as a semi- approval of Sunex; my local independent tool truck sells it and the pricing was very similar to the Tekton. Gotta get the swing cylinders off to repack and press out the stabilizer pins and replace on my 420E it.
I have the identical set in Neiko brand but chrome molly so far so good and like you I’ve never used ratchet in set ! I’ve been buying a bunch of used sockets off eBay and I’ve done extremely well in doing so without breaking budget and all USA made ! Thanks for sharing bud hope all is well take care now 👍
Would the maybe wear quickly off the start and then once they are broken in stop wearing? Seems like enough wear for such little use keep us posted as you keep using them. Great video appreciate the honesty
I hv don’t have Tekton but I do hv there torque wrenches ,my go to on big sockets is GP when I was a caterpillar field tech that was the brand most of the field techs ran good price and hold out great video
I got a good deal on a similar socket set($105 for a 50lb set) off ebay no name manufacturer, it goes up to around 3'' or 4'', only used it once to beat in a pinion seal but they are made from chrome moly, maybe the vanadium doesn't last either way u can warranty those
The Snap-on 3/4" drive socket set only goes 3/4 to 1 3/4 with no extensions, or ratchet at $735.00. Not feasible to put in 2 service trucks. That's $1500 in tools to bounce around. In my shop box absolutely, on the road, not a good business decision.
Yes and no..I used to do interstate repairs and I have back away from them. If it is a previous customer or a local driver then yes. If they are sitting on a rural road sure. Middle of the highway..not anymore.
Also keep in mind there is always a payment issue on the highway. More often than not, the first credit card is canceled. I have been told account departments are closed until such time, been told can't be paid until following day. 3 to 4 hours waiting for payment just takes a toll after a while.
I have looked at some of the tekton stuff but after seeing JC smith and you’re issues with them I don’t think the quality is there! No way you should show were after a few bolts

The problem is they are chrome vanadium. That's for chrome sockets. Impact sockets are chrome molybdenum.
Bingo!!!!
They do make some in chromoly, the set is just more expensive.
@@oxOsicknessOxo my understanding is that the chrome moly are only available in deep not shallow
Good review. I’m finding the newer impact sockets, even from MAC, are very soft.

Thank you Sir. I have a big set of GP and they have held up very well.

Looks pretty standard for being on an impact cro-mo are better imoacf sockets
Luckily they have a warranty program that is 2nd to no one, 2 or 3 pics and boom you'll get another in the mail in a few days
🤷🏻♂️time will tell for sure.
Nice set 👍i got a brend new set of 6 point short impact sockets from the italien company beta great tool 👍👍
Go with NAPA-Carlyle
Buy Snap-on and be proud.

Proud and broke 🤣
You can buy two or three cheap sets that combined will last a lifetime, sad times
Run them until they crack and then when they do contact tekton
Tell you the truth. We have been beating the tar out of them and they are doing really well. You really have to yank to get them off the impacts
Well at least they have a lifetime warranty so how is the set holding up at this very moment
Do you run road calls on the highway

@@joeybarth415 Agreed. Tekton chromes, wrenches, and screwdrivers yes. Impacts - Sunex all the way
I would have thought that Tekton would have a better product than that. WOW not good
