I feel like a big tip is to not using both jumps off the wall to hit into the ball. Space it out. One jump to get off the wall (while trying to line your car up with the ball) and using the second jump to flip into the ball. A lot of people make that mistake and I'm finally getting rid of that habit.

    Other tips for new players.
Learn to aerial and double jump
Learn how and when to use the brake.
Playing against bots in custom match is great for practice and you can scale the difficulties and eventually try 2v1 or 3v1
Play 1v1 as it helps you learn how to defend better.
Watch replays when you lose a goal to see what you could have done differently or to see how your opponent managed to score.
Don't worry about losing, focus on improving as a player. Win or lose

Not only the "camera shake". Changing graphic settings from shinning bright fancy to least shiny rewarded me with a couple rank ups immediately. Turn off anything distracts you from the ball, ambient occlusion, depth of field, bloom, light shafts, lens flares, dynamic shadows, motion blur, weather effect, effect intensity, anti aliasing. Turn off everything except transparent goal post. Set render quality to high, texture detail high performance, world detail and particle detail to performance. That's it.
Edit: Oh also increasing size of name plates to 150% is also good. You can tell a lot just by looking their nameplates.

Rocket League. It’s a sad game when you really sit in my shoes (or headset). My team8s are always trash, miss perfect, we’ll places passes and plays, miss easy saves and positions they put themselves in. They bump me when I go for an air dribble and sit right behind me and ball chase the entire game. They can’t even get into the air or dribble, and come one. Your in Diamond lobbies! I also dislike the people who go”well actually, if you send me a replay I bet it’s actually your fault,” and “you get the rank you deserve.” Those kind of people are the lucky ones who don’t have to deal with what I am, and it turns out, most of them are lower ranked around Diamond or plat, (which is a joke (sorry diamonds)) My “rank” is Diamond 1 Div 1, but when I play with my champ 2 friend, I easily carry him half of the time and win many games. I even had my GC friend look at all of my gameplay for a day and tell me if wasn’t my fault. My match making was just unlucky. The ratio of bad to good team8s is (and calculated) 1:9. I have to carry half of the time, and afterwards play terribly after 5-6 games because of frustration. I’m done wasting time on this game when I could be doing other things like spending time with family and learning my guitar, playing piano, going on hikes and camp outs. Anyone who made it to the end, remember this. “Is a video game really worth hours of you life you will never get back, and that may leave a profound negative effect on you?” Thank you for your time. This was my Ted Talk. 😂 (true story though 😢)

Couple extra tips is angels use angels to either cut off your opponent’s or to make a play / shot on the ball . Don’t ball chase the best way to score or set up a goal is to use the open field. Make a play off your opponents play. Defense is key and always use ball cam. Make sure you use the hockey technique LW C RW . Don’t try and be in the same place as your other team mates if you’re in the center and the RW misses the ball you advance and pass it over to the LW who moves to Center . If the RW makes the pass you take the shot if you miss the shot the LW sings over to take the shot. Do that for goalie as well. Always rotate offense defense goalie . Don’t ever hit the ball sideways hit it forward with momentum don’t always try to bump the ball after your first miss usually you have other team mates who have a better look if someone’s flying to hit the ball and you just bump it they fly past you and miss the ball just lands there and the other team has a free shot with two opponent players out of position . Never go backwards no boost that way. DONT BE A BALL HAWK . Don’t chase chase chase it’s off ur team mates opportunities .

I think number 1 tip for new players is that if played as a TEAM, as in positioning, you will score much more often if you can do a easy setup

See here is the thing, I’m a platinum and my friend is a Diamond/champion. He played on my account for a solid 2hours and now I’m a champion with the skill set of a platinum. Now whenever I join a game I have to face really tough opponents which doesn’t make you learn.
