    Matt, I recently played in our men’s league and for the 1st time I saw someone use a chipper and I was really impressed with the results he was getting with it. I thought to myself after he told me it was 35 degrees, to go look up my manufacturer’s web site of my irons to find the angles of all the clubs. I found that my 9 iron was 36 degrees (close enough!). I went out the next time using my 9 iron as my “chipper”. Just used a putt stroke a voila! Worked like a charm almost holed a 40 footer. I’ve been using it since and my chips (as long as my feel is working that day) is now my go to way of chipping. I have a lot of confidence chipping now. By the way you asked your caddie for your 9 iron to demonstrate and she brings you 2 clubs. What’s with that? You just threw down one of them without looking so I guess you knew which one was your 9? You can teach the blind golfing with that attribute! 😊 I really loved this short video! ❤

    I confess when I saw the title of the video was "what to do if you crap yourself around the green" that this was going to be a handy guide to discretely clean up the mess without your playing partners noticing, so I was a little disappointed with the content. Perhaps this will be covered in a later video (I find woodland courses are not too bad but parkland courses often lack suitable cover).

    Adjusting grip pressure helps when using the Texas up to that distance . Tighter from further away less tight increments the closer to the edge of the green you get,and hit normal pace.Takes out the quess work of how it will react.

      Is the “Texas wedge” another name for “chipper”?

    • @TexasGolfer
      @TexasGolfer 2 месяца назад

      @@KTS_85 - No, technically a Texas Wedge is a putter from off the green.
      But, some here apply a loser definition to mean any non-wedge club, like a 8/7 iron. This bumps the ball off the ground briefly and still gets the ball rolling on the green in a similar fashion to a putt. Technically the 8/7 iron would just be a “bump and run”. But, some people still call it a Texas Wedge for some reason.

I was just thinking in my head, man, the lower we keep the ball the better it gets, it’s so less stress and it’s such a simplified motion. My secret to determining a line when putting from off the green: the fringe is basically a little downhill section of the putt and it will kick perpendicular to the meeting of the fringe and green. Changed my entire mindset about lines and helps with visualizing the pace after the ball gets on the surface. So it helps with that fear of hitting it too hard.

    • @yoshigg

      I play on a linksy course in TN, and I know not all courses encourage this. But I putt from 20 yards off the green anywhere possible. Up and down stats are magical in the year since I've started it.
