Those rising fish in that location ... if it was this time of year or just a couple weeks ago... are most likely taking blue wing olive dry flies, try that. Nice video, well put together. Love that area of the river.
Yes it was kind of month ago! ahahha it was already cold and I was not thinking that I can use my dry flies and left it home! thank you so much for your comment! - and I'm sure that this is beautiful spot for dry flies in warm days! - all best for you ! see you on the river!
Great video. I've been hoping for more bow river fishing videos. I fish almost everyday in the spring and summer in Calgary along the south bow river. Maybe I'll see you some time
Thank you so much for commenting! Yeah! Will do more! Just started to film too late, the season is almost done, but will try to do some more video in the winter time too🫡 Summer and spring are best!!!🔥 100% will see you somewhere on the riverside 🙌🏼
Man I love these long videos!!! That river is so beautiful! And so many trout!!!! The rainbow trout are so beautiful and the brown trout looks is big and the brown looks so nice!!! Love this! Bets RUclips channel ever!!!🎣🎣🎣🐟🐟🐟🔥🔥🔥😁😁👍👍👍
I'm hoping to catch and release a bull trout out of the bow river. Their population isn't as high as rainbows or browns, but the bigger size is the prize I'm after. I'm a believer in the Bow River as being a world-class fishery. I've caught my fair share of trout. Trout over 20 inches in length have given me battles on light lines . Your video is outstanding 👏 Yes the water is freezing and cold on the feet, even in waders over long periods of time. It's worth the wait when that trout battles up to 5 minutes before it sinks into your net. The best part is releasing it back carefully as it power swims off back to nature. The funny thing is I use streamers half the time. Green, black, or even tan Grey patterns work pretty well. I don't like ball type strike indicators, it'll mess up casting and presentation. One fly at the end of my leader is all I use, no double flys. Sometimes, I use split shot to get down deeper , other times, I don't . Good luck with your fishing adventures and videos. The big one is around the corner .
Thank you so much for your kind words about my video! 🙌 I completely agree-the Bow River is an amazing fishery, and going after a bull trout is definitely worth the effort. They love colder, cleaner water, so heading closer to Canmore might give you more chances! I’ve never caught a bull trout myself-it’s a dream of mine too! But I’ve heard of friends catching some even in Calgary. I just started fly fishing about five months ago, and living so close to the Bow feels like a dream come true. I’ve fallen in love with fishing dry flies and streamers, but by the end of fall, the fish weren’t very active. I didn’t have any chases on my streamer at all in the last few weeks of the season! Right now, nymphs seem to be working best. Thank you again for your comment-I really appreciate it! 🎣
If the streamers are catching bottom at times, it means you're in the strike zone . I've caught big Rainbows and brown trout subsurface most of the time. Dry fly fishing works OK if a rise is happening. Then you've got to figure out the right fly size first before the hatches match. Dry f l y fishing isn't as easy as most anglers anticipate . Ah ha.... 😅 I've caught 20 , 21 inch Rainbows and 22 up to over 2 ft. Brown trout on steamers raking the river floor. A ha 😊
Yeah! 100% agree with you about bottom! Especially that spot is really deep pools so cold weather means that fish chilling on the bottom! And about dry flies 100%agree too! Thank you so much for commenting! Hope to see you on the river one day🔥🔥🔥
@MNTN.FISHING OF course, you know , you have become a great fly fisherman in less than a year . Wow, I'm impressed 👏 The river banks are crawling with tiny midge hatches yesterday and today , the warm weather is stirring up . Many Mallard ducks are patrolling the banks feeding on insects . I went hiking and was observing .

Haha your streamers are too heavy. Also take the plastic of your cork handle. It'll rot the cork.
Hey! I’m not a streamer guy ahahha! Will try to get in there next season!
I took it off once I got fish! Thanks 😅
