- Architect Christi Azevedo transformed a tiny boiler room in her San Francisco backyard into a compact home crafted like custom furniture. Trained in metalworking and furniture building, everything is tailored to create a home that feels much larger than its 88 square feet (8 feet wide by 11 feet deep).

I love that the headboard/cupboards are slightly sloped, it makes leaning against so much more comfortable. And all the little details like the double-sided door hook are just so clever. I love this place, I could totally see myself living there.
My wife & I are living in a semi-micro studio in center city Philadelphia & we were so inspired by this video. This woman is a force to be reckoned with! Brilliant!
Neat space. However I CANNOT do glass floors. It freaks my shit out!
Me too! I would be terrified of slipping on it getting out of the shower too 😭
+Mo Jo I agree, but I think for light it would be great to have some of that sanded acrylic in that space too. Still get the overhead light downstairs, without someone being able to look up your shorts or you feel like you're going to plummet to your death every time you get out of bed.
+Mo Jo And it could be potentially...inconvenient for people wearing dresses. You can always put a carpet over it though.
well as for light from the top...I think u could use a set of old mirrors...I mean light bounces off of them all the time....the ancient. Egyptians used stuff like that in under ground spaces for lighting
+Mo Jo I think it's looks fantastic. I would be nervous about it being in earthquake country though. Especially in a brick building. The glass is likely to break and the brick walls tend to collapse in earthquakes. I'm glad the skylight isn't directly over the bed.
I’m 51 and it took me all these years to realize that I want to be an architect/interior designer.
Yeah! I hope you're doing something about that. I changed careers at 45 into high school teacher from illustrator.
if you truly want to, nothing can stop you.
So cool but i would have some kind of hand rail for the stairs/ladder.
i agree, this little pad is sweet except dying from falling with no railing.
onebigkahuna69 How would ever drink Jameson again and make my way upstairs?
I have to admit that i haven't tried any Irish Whiskeys I'm more of a Jack Daniels whiskey or Jim Beam Bourbon man myself.Drinking some Jim Bean as i write this..How Ironic.?.Thank God I don't have to climb any stairs or a ladder.lol
+IAN MANSELL It just might not be finished yet
+onebigkahuna69 Irish > commercial American stuff
Feels like most of the small design features were actually thought out and not just something that happened to be, like the towel hangers, ladder-seat, shoe compartment, it really makes a difference when everything is thought out :P
Always face a ship's ladder when you're going up or down. Facing away is a good way to break an ankle. I'm speaking as an officer and as someone who's seen it happen.
+Red Judas That's what I thought too for safety, but that's not how they do it on some of the ships. I think it depends on the shape and the slant of the ladder. The Sailors are fast coming down the steps too! I once stayed one the a USN Carriers.
nutrylzone That's the general rule aboard HMC Ships.I mean, carry on. I'm just saying.
+Red Judas Cool! Learned something new.
Yeah I have big feet and in my mom's townhouse I have to walk down the stairs sideways or I'll slip.
Learned something new !☺️ Thx, sounds very obvious as well !😁 I would just fall off that ladder she built coming down !😂😂😂
OMG how I adore the sanded acrylic in the kitchen. BRAVO!!! its not too often that i see something that i will eventually use. Love the space. greatest job.
A really cool space, brilliant design everywhere the camera turned. Thanks for going to to look at it Kirsten and thanks to Christi for sharing it with us. I've ordered a copy of "A Pattern Language" now thanks to this video.
She's awesome...the creativity just spills out of her. What an amazing space.

You took the words right out of my mouth! She is awesome! So creative.
she needs to see a Doctor
That bathroom is actually really great
I just love the way her mind works. So well spoken - clearly well educated. So much attention to every detail.
I get tired of people saying "Tons of storage" when it has some storage.
Tons of storage given the size of the space. This wouldn't be a ton of storage in a larger home, but in a tiny home, yes.
I was just thinking that. It has like, some storage. Not a lot. Certainly not "tons."
onetwothree57 she uses the word tons not in the literal sense.
Or tons of space when she was in the bathroom.
There's a lot more there than you might think.
What a fantastic use of limited space and reuse of spare materials. I am very impressed, Christi!
I don't usually like urban tiny homes but she made this one work. It's great. I would have a rug over the glass landing though - it is scary and would just stay dirty all the time.
I love this video. She really is a fabulous and talented lady!
simple, beautiful and functional
Feels like a proper 1-bedroom apartment while taking up less space than a small studio. Impressive.
Excellent design! Very clever!
I would love to live there... I really like the way she managed to work with the levels it feels open and it's a clean functional and easy living design.
Amazing bathroom, especially the medicine cabinet. I'd add a (slow) drop down floor over the glass for changing room privacy.
Also a tallish gate at the top of the stairs with a drop down seat for changing ease and fall protection when jumping into pants when your're late. Love the light... light is everything as is plumbing...
This lady is brilliant! I love her energy.
Super cool lady. Love the skill put into this build!
This woman needs to create a RUclips channel, love her creativity.
Might have been the best tiny house/apartment I've ever seen in a video. Everything tis thought out and has a purpose, and due to the funny structure of the floors, it does not even feel that tiny.
This is too dope. I live in the bay and I would totes move here hahha
What a brilliant use of the light. Such a clever design. Incredibly interesting
I looooove how she designed this
She is like a brand new just charged batery... Full of energy!!! ...The space is Well solved... Thanks for sharing.!!!
beautiful and brilliant...I'd live there in a heartbeat
Clever, clever, clever! What an amazing woman, designer and builder.
I really like it. Cozy and creative. She took good advantage of space.
Mostly, she didn’t use a lot wooden stuff.

This show has inspired me to be a minimalist. I love it.
If that table had the legs on the corners and wheels on them you can actually fit a cabinet or drawers underneath and still be able to pull the table in an out.
She is so amazing and extremely talented and creative. This lady is a GENIUS 👏👍✌️😀
Wow! That is so impressive. I'm not ordinarily attracted to smaller room designs but that was exceptional. Great job.
We really enjoyed your great video, these ideas came together so very beautiful ❤ this is so cool, thoughtfully done.
This tiny apartment is really cool! Ideally I would live in a place like that, nothing fancy and not too expansive with the right square meters of liveable space to do anything you need
She is a genius, and an artist but my gosh she speak fast! I love what she has created though!! :) Well done Christi!!!
Great home, although a bigger/second sky light wouldn't hurt...
The old boiler room is beautiful space.
Love her work and her energy
I like this lady. I like the way she talks.
yeah? Now try imagining her bitching you out because you left the toilet seat open at the same speed.. ugggggg?
Princess Actually she doesn't seem like a person who would even notice that. What's the deal with that? both sexes use that toilet, why does the seat have to be put back down? Girl who doesn't care here.
San Fran housing inspectors are ruthless... wonder how much this place is up to code.
Oh yeah, that brick wall has no separation. I didn't notice any retro fitting. Just like my first place in college in SF.
Classic case of old work being grandfathered in.
Well the wall is 12” thick on the main floor and 6” thick upstairs. I’m sure she knows what the codes are in San Francisco being an architect and all!
This is what good workmanship gets you 👏
she can make so much money doing this type of design stuff for random people, this is magical in a way.
I like this lady....if purchase this 281sq ft space i'd want her to hook it up for me. great job!!
An absolutely beautiful little apartment. Just brilliant:-)
This is my favorite tiny house ever
OMG!
I wanna become friends with her!
What a Great designer.
I'm a girl and i would simple design a non slip cover for the glass for when i had company if i needed. put down. .take up. .Easy peasy. i love every bit of this home. and i admire such a cleaver woman.
God bless you and take care of you, your home is beautiful. Nice job.
I absolutely LOVE this place.
I love this women's energy 👍
wow so funny --- my friend works at the architecture firm that is the tenant in the storefront of Christi's building. I always wondered what the inside of that backyard loft looked like! Cool to come by this video :)
I was just wondering about that, and which firm Christi works at. Do you happen to have the names of those offices?
This is very practical and useful space. I like it :)
I love this woman! I want to be more like her as I go for my Architectural Design degree.
Versatility, style and good use of space. sweet :D
A great historical perspective!
Oh my god, i just found my future house!!!! Very nice job!!
Very pretty,I like the unconventional use of space.
I would love to design a home with her! She's amazing! Also such a creative space.
Wow. She is amazing.
She’s brilliant. Fantastic design and engineering skills.
I wonder what she rents it out for
one of the smallest I've seen but Def the BEST out of the smallest by far !! I'm So Very impressed by this tiny home, its really incredible !!! the only one thing I dont care for is that see through floor up top, it Scares the shit outta me Big Time !!!! lol I'm a big baby when it comes to heights and the see through floor just heightens that FEAR !!!! EEK, YIKES 😨😱 I would love to know how she made that to stay so safe !!
What did the building inspectors have to say?
I love the light flooding down.
Love the space but RIP me going down that ladder/slipping on the glass floor from the shower. 😅
that's some great planning and use of a very small space... :)
Very nice to see wc next on the `2nd floor`. A lot of ppl just puts a bed and thats it, and crawling downstairs in the middle of a night to take a leak might be unsafe and is unconfortable for sure.
best tiny house ever.
this was just awesome. Love the design and ingenuity of the small space. Was there a cooktop or a stove? did I miss it?
You know what I was ready to criticize everything but wow the unit is really nice, I long to live there
I would love to live in that space, I wish I could find something similar around here!
Favourite one yet
GIRL!!NOTHING TO SAY BUT U R THE BOMB!!!
Your place is so cool!
This is so cool. I have to say though,.... I'd never make it to the bed.
amazing! reminds me why i wanted to become an architect :-) (just going through a little post-graduation crisis)
What a stunning space
AMAZING. I loved. You have my dream HOME👍
I probably would have made a murphy bed/futon situation downstairs and then maybe another futon or a couple chairs upstairs. Downstairs my kitchen/dining/sitting/sleeping combo but upstairs my reading/TV room (plus that wet room - - what they might call a water closet in England).
Such a great space!
Genius architecture planning! And gorgeous too! Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! I have a garage would you like to reno it into this please? :)
Fabulous!
Great taste, amazingly talented.
I love this! What a cool little space! :-)
Nice. Great useable home.
She's super rad!
Amazing, Love it, Thanks for sharing your space....
P.S. Did she say she had 2 basketball players in the bedroom? LOL
YEAH!! I think the reason that so many dudes criticize this woman is that she is totally unfettered!!! I noticed that too because it reminds me of myself, never had to live according to what people expected from a girl, including my sex life. Thank you for the positive comment.
she talks so fast
She's in a hurry. Lol
she is excited =D
petra leong She's out of breath from talking so much lol. She's passionate about what she does.
That Belgian Girl shes trying to talk as fast as her brain thinks
Years ago it was called enthusiasm and nobody made you take drugs for being enthusiastic about something. I miss those days....
Love the space
Lovvvve this place only negative is the wet room. They just scream mold to me. But I would definitely live in this space
I LOVE this space!!!
Not my style (modern) but very well thought out. I do like the industrial vibes
my ears are bleeding , this wonderful lady can talk :P
So So SO cool, I wish I'm an architect...
i am a COMPLETE SUCKER for red brick in homes. especially unique tiny homes like this. i could live here forever.
She sounds breathless from approx the two minute mark till the very end... it's not easy to listen to that without being able to tell the person to take a breath, or an inhaler (not sure if she's asthmatic). Smart apartment, but I couldn't really focus cosa the unnerving breathlessness.
I love this
I know! great design :)
I would've love to have this
