I'm on a ventilator in my bed watching this and waist to toes are moving under my blanket..brabrahahaha brabrahahaha.. gotta be on go-slow so that the alarm doesn't go off, but, when this music hit, you feel no pain, just go with it...just a groovin yaar....totally giggin it.. eh.. nice nice nice.. those were the days.. at 58 I can relate..even with all the new rages.ska is still the soul of the soil.. sweet as..

Nothing warms my heart more than watching granma and dem in their 70's still doing these moves at parties. Loves it. Great music, part of my history.....loves it!
my dear you would never want to be any where else ja was so beautiful.loving kind helpful people to each other back then . .God I wish I could turned back time
Y yo que creía que Jamaica era solo Bob Marley, tiene una gran variedad de música y toda muy bien interpretada, que ricaA nuestra cultura latinoamericana.
Love the clothes, love the moves, love that kids are there! How things used to be - kids at the dance. Spent so much of my childhood at dances in London in the 60s. Gwan!
I found this record while looking for nothing in particular at Ferndale Oldies in Baltimore. It was released here in the US on the Atlantic label as by the Ska Kings. This record rocks so hard it hurts! I immediately brought it home and jammed on it for years! I did some digging about the act recording this and found out that this is the pen name Byron Lee and the Dragonaires used for the US release of the single. I also found out that this gem actually was briefly in the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #98. Byron worked as tirelessly as Bob Marley to get Jamaica's music heritage out to the rest of the world. This is but one pretty shiny example.
I am almost 40 years old but I remember this number when I was 13-14 years old in music performance from Poland aka Alibabki ..... beautiful and respectable
sin palabras...!! el ska no es ninguna moda..!! 60 años de historia..!! pasando de sus inicios hasta el momento actual..claro de diferente difusion pero siempre con algo del espiritu inicial, y un ritmo algre..!!
well you had the beatles, mowtown r+b rock n roll to compete with, plus the radio station were not promoting the ska, this vid was a rehersall b4 they went to the worlds fair in 1964
smiling i remember when i was younger doing this dacing with my friends ..jamcian family so sweet miss them so much all gone now RIP ... so sweet bless
@sparks8597 no ska came from the american music that was played on the sound systems, nothing to do with mento or calypiso or merenge jump up,it was mainly american r and b
The Skatalites and Dragonaires fued over the '64 World's Fair is classic. Much more of a Skatalites fan but it's hard not to acknowledge the gravity of Byron Lee on Jamaican music. What a great era of music globally.
Wow... this shows Jamaica at such a beautiful time in her history when there was money, people were innocent, disciplined and the future looked bright. Innocent couples dancing and having fun without having to grind up against each other. What a time capsule, thank you for sharing.
Tony Varity ah. Yeah. very cool. Byron lee was a cleaver man who ran an UP TOWN Kingston band, with tight musicians, lost from Eric Greens dance band. He bought his Hammond organ with proceeds from a tours, the first in Kingston! Now off to play some tunes on my Blaupunkt.
This is brilliant! I found this just yesterday. It is fantastic and needs to be seen by everyone! Byron Lee & The Dragonaires were a terrific band. This clip is a gem!
White and Black People....can Enjoy this Song....Back in the Day.... Music Brought People Together ☺️....Now It Doesn't....in this Generation....It is Loud and Noise....and Degrades... People and Families
This song BARELY entered the Billboard Hot 100 in July of 1964, peaking at an INCREDIBLY low No. 98 after just one week. Can’t believe that!

it's funny bc it's true
Wow! I just tried that!
no,not reggae, but rock steady, the horn section was more or less left out when reggae evolved in 1967

Apparently, like the music, ska-dance came in 3 distinct waves: OG "sway", British Skank / Moonstomp, Punk-Ska Mosh
It´s a good ska, the original ska. I heard the song a thousand times, and your sound move my feet. Thank God for the ska.
