Thanks Suzette! It jacaranda. I have a big stash drying now haha. The base was maybe 3/4" thick, and very surprisingly it hasn't cracked in the 2 weeks since I made it
@@CookWoodworks I want to get into wood turning but I don't know watch lathe to buy what would you recommend and what wood do you recommend and where would I get the chisel for woodturning
Watching you do this is so relaxing. You make it look so easy, but I'm sure you have a lot of experience under your belt. Just curious, how much do these pieces sell for? Do you have an online store? So impressive....stay well
I love the big vase. I went to Workbench this week and got motivated. I am ready to buy my first lathe. Do you have any suggestion on which brand or size to purchase? Thanks, Mark
Mine is a Jet, and it's a good combo of quality and affordability. I'd start with a medium size lathe. A mini lathe is too small, and I'd only get a full size if you've tried it a few times and know for sure it's a long term hobby. But it's impossible not to get hooked!
I wonder if you can help someone in Nepal who uses their legs to roll the wood to make vase. Can you please share what kinds of motor and equipment needed to roll the vase?
Can i know how you can made it ? Because i really want to learning about wood ... with college in university or from what you can do that ? Please share ... thankyou
Nice practice piece Drew. Your gouge work looks ready for the big time👍 The shape is pretty too🎨 Thanks for showing to us🙏 -Mike So how did you make the self-adjusting tool rest seen at 1:40 ? Gotta get me one too 😁
You are a good person to me I am not a good friend and a person I am not even sure that I can do this to myself you just want me to be a good person and I am not sure that the app does it to be
Beautiful wood. Love the vase. What kind of wood is it? How thick is your base? I'm wondering if it will crack when drying.
Thanks Suzette! It jacaranda. I have a big stash drying now haha. The base was maybe 3/4" thick, and very surprisingly it hasn't cracked in the 2 weeks since I made it
Cook Woodworks - not familiar with that kind of wood. It looks like alabaster. Quite lovely.
@@CookWoodworks I love wood turnings. I want to be a professional like you!

Beautiful vase. My brother who is a carpenter, uses jacaranda quite a lot for furniture. It’s a beautiful wood 👏👏👏
That's a beautiful outline you gave to your vase and the grain's gorgeous. Thank you very much for sharing.
Thank you!
It's really cool how you can actually see the wood changing colors from oxidizing as you cut it.
Yeah I was a little mesmerized a few times in the middle of turning it haha
Sean, it's not oxidizing... it's drying.
This woodworking is so satisfying! I love woodworking so much!♡
Looks like antique vase. Good job Drew and nice practice with bowl gouge 👍
All those wood chippings and dust spewing out is almost just as satisfying as the wood cutting to me haha
Beautiful wood and graceful vase. Nice
Nice work, turned out great, cheers John
Thanks John!
Krásná práce
That smells so good
Great first try 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing, nice Piece. Full View and Like
Thank you!
Thanks for throwing in some parts that were not sped up!
Another great project buddy....looks awesome! Have a great weekend
I see the RUclips safety police are on your case 😝
When you do a log... I worry about the pith ... did it stay intact and not crack as you dried? I do like the wood too.
Jupiter Vase. Awesome stuff.
I thought the same about jupiter 😁👍
Came out, sweet Lil brother.
Great looking vase
Beatiful!!
Looks great btw
Looks like the surface of Jupiter. I would leave the bottom that you cut in the end but it is not a big deal. Very precise work, though. I like it.
Thanks very much
I love turning green wood, I could almost smell it :)
Stunning vase
Good Job 👍👍👍
Is that a green log? If so how do you keep it from cracking after it is turned? Thanks
Satisfying
Like the unusual colour, looks like marble. 👍🏼
What tool do you use for hollowing? And please let us know how it dries, with that pith in the middle! :D
This is the tool I use: amzn.to/2SMDnl6
I made this vase about 2 weeks ago, and shockingly there have been no cracks. I totally assumed it would

Looks cool Drew you and that bowl gouge seem to have made friends
Amazing 👌👌👌👍 great job
Great video! You got good fast with that gouge!!! I need lots more practice. Good job!!!
Thanks Gayle! I still make plenty of mistakes, but the practice does help
good job

I own a nova comet II and love it the combo kit is a good value, but you'll want/need to buy more chisels shortly after.
I really like my 70-1420 Rikon. It’s a little bigger than midi.
Very nice!
Thanks!
Dạ cho em hỏi gỗ đó gỗ gì mà thấy tiện mềm vậy
Nicely proportioned piece. What are the overall height & width?
You're not big on conversation are u ??? LOL I understand...u let the craftsmanship do all the talking. I can dig that. OUTSTANDING work !!
Nice vase....
Nice brother👍
It's satisifying
Muito bom seu trabalho abraço fique com deus que abençoa
Great looking vase :-)
Looks real top heavy
Can you do other materials like plastic or sommin, that would be cool!
I wonder if you can help someone in Nepal who uses their legs to roll the wood to make vase. Can you please share what kinds of motor and equipment needed to roll the vase?
nice
👌👌👌👌👌
All that saw dust , what is used for? Does it go to waste?
Hope they don't pack it and sell it as kous kous.
Why did you cut off the bottom at the end? I thought it looked nice with the foot attached
Can i know how you can made it ? Because i really want to learning about wood ... with college in university or from what you can do that ? Please share ... thankyou
What did you use for a finish?? The vase looks GREAT
This one I used danish oil, thanks for watching!
Вот ты дойош мужик. Классно спасибо за видео
How’s you get that chuck to hold that vase without the tail stock? My G3 was notorious for letting it go.
Yeah I have a few videos where that happens haha. Now I’m very slow and delicate hollowing vases
Are you a wizard?
Nice practice piece Drew. Your gouge work looks ready for the big time👍 The shape is pretty too🎨 Thanks for showing to us🙏 -Mike
So how did you make the self-adjusting tool rest seen at 1:40 ? Gotta get me one too 😁
It's a long process to make that tool rest, but the final step is called "Don't tighten." 🤣
@@CookWoodworks gotcha 😁😁😁

What size forsner bit is that?
What tool did you use to core the vase
Belo trabalho friend.
Very good work
What kind of wood is it ? Sycamore ? Maple ?
It's called jacaranda
What lathe speed do you run whilst using forstner drill bits
As slow as my lathe goes, 320 I think
Очень круто👍
Ну почему не оставить ту часть, которую обрезал. Ведь устойчивость вазы была бы лучше, да и вид, по мне лучше. Лайк.
Little late to ask but what brand lathe you have?
looks like my Jet 1221SP
I have experience in this business and I hope to have a machine like this one 😓
what is the name of this machine?
Show us what it looked like one week later after it dried out.
Like a jupiter
👍
Waow
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
God is coming
That just look like jupiter 9:40
Jüpiter ??
why are is one nail painted, 5:28
Thats easy
The base looks very small.....it's a tumble vase.....
Красиво, но только дно неустойчивое.
why so many steps
Is this a satisfying video
!!! Прелесть)
Besides the real fact the base is far too small for its size!!!!!
