Beautiful wood, beautiful finish both absolutely elevate this simple shape. A medium branch into a beautiful usable vase, Not much Walnut available in the UK bot exploring what I can do with Forstner/wavy edge bits for speed with round carbide cutters to hollowing interiors...i used to hate the idea of them, but now love them for this task. Lovely piece Gary. Inspired to give it a try with some yew or cherry.

Thank you Jim. I find 3D printing very useful. Have made extra camera mounts for outside security camera which I put up to watch our mailbox. The reason is when people walk are dead end road with a dog and the dog poops they will put it in our garbage can if it is still out on the road. I guess someone figured I would not mind if they put it in our mailbox. I Figured if they did it again I could personally give it back to them. Sorry it reminded me of that. I use BobCad which has the CAM module and the Art Module. I have had it for years. I bought it because I have a CNC milling machine. DesignSpark is a good programs. I do not think the free version will create Gcode. Thanks for asking, Gary

Hi Gary, beautiful grain! Black walnut is really hard to beat! With regards to the spray lacquer, do you need to cut it back before adding additional coats? Thanks, Mike
Hi Mike, I do not cut it back. This comes as a stray can. When I use their lacquer for brushing I cut it back to where it sprays good. Up to 50 percent depending on how long I have had it. I have a gallon can that is close to empty and at least 10 years old. I also like Zinsser Seal Coat as a sealer. I think the lacquer lays down better. Thanks for watching, Gary

I liked the ogee form you had starting out but you weren’t where you wanted to be. That grain you exposed made whatever shape it was worth it, and that simple curve really showcased it.

Very nice vase. I coat the inside with resin and wonder what you think of that process. Are there problems I should watch out for?

I liked the ogee form you had starting out but you weren’t where you wanted to be. That grain you exposed made whatever shape it was worth it, and that simple curve really showcased it.
