I'm amazed you managed to keep the bark on that piece of Yew , as it always seems so thin and friable. It has such lovely contrasts in colour, and the way in which young branches break through well established core wood from the trees heart always adds a bit more visual interest to a piece.
YEW carnt go wrong with that WOOD , the colours and grain pattern is impeccable and live edge too. TOP JOB Andy. Keep the dream alive son Aussie Aussie Aussie GDAY MATE from brisbane Australia
Absolutely beautiful, Yew is my favorite wood. I especially love the demarcation line between the sap wood and heart wood. Thanks again for the videos. 😎
This is lovely! I am appreciative of how you used the bronze-colored filler for the small cracks (every other turner that I watch gravitates towards blue or black), because it made the bark look so touchable-looking! Very enjoyable video, thank you! 😊
Andy, I love when your machine gets the death wobbles, cause you know that's a chunky piece of wood, that's soon to be something beautiful!!! Love your work.
"Jim, I can't make her go any faster, she isn't a Chevrolet !!!" Shakes, who's got the shakes? I've got One Steady Hand !!! Don't you love it when Andy carves something that is invisible?? For those outside the UK, this bowl would be a great addition to your 2024 Thanksgiving table. In Canada, Thanksgiving is October 13th, this year.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I love wood, I love the way it smells and you make some incredible pieces! 🌺💚🙃 My son-in-laws uncle use to wood craft making bowls and such, unfortunately he was also a logger and a tree fell on him 🥺 and he is no longer making beautiful wood pieces 😢 🌺💚🙃 I think that my son-in-law would also like to learn the art of wood crafting. He does work with wood but right now he likes felling trees. He did buy a lumber mill so maybe in the future he will also take up wood sculpting. 👏🏻 it’s an art for sure ! Had I known about the craft 50 years ago I would have attempted the craft myself, as I said I love the smell and feel of wood especially after it has been sanded to a fine finish ❤️❤️❤️🌺💚🙃 I’M IN LOVE WITH THAT VESSEL! 🌺💚🙃
I like how the inner growth rings suggest a trunk that is wide and narrow at the same time. Is this a crotch piece from a pair of limbs that spread out but stayed together or something similar? Lovely rings and bark inclusions make this a most fascinating piece! 😃
Another stunning piece. I actually have a live edge walnut bowl I've been meaning to turn but I really want to try my hand at making a goblet and seeing if I can't turn a ring or two on it for flair.😅
Since subscribing to your channel, I have come to truly appreciate natural edge pieces like this one. When that lathe is a'rocking, don't come a'knocking! Is it simply a glue-like mixture to keep the bark in place?
Beautiful wood grain on that one. Wondered about something while watching - have you ever ‘punched thru’ the bottom, and did you patch it or throw it on the firewood pile?

Thank you, Andy, for that revelation of the beauty of creation, hidden so it might be found.
Wow Andy, that piece of Yew sure shines, all the textures and colors going throughout the bowl, I love it
I love the natural edge, I'm glad you kept the bark, yew is such a gorgeous wood
Stunning piece! Wood in it’s natural state is hard to beat
You've done it again, Andy. The color, figure, and form are absolutely exquisite! 👍
Thank you so much

I've said it before, i love how your perpendicular to the grain cutting makes the end product look so much BETTER! =)

The bronze epoxy worked good, looks good too. Great job as always.
It always amazes me how you can take a log and turn it into something so beautiful.❤❤❤❤❤
That would look lovely with some dry flower heads in it. Love the colour and the markings in the wood.❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊
Beautiful piece of artwork. Happy turning my friend 😊.

Hi Andy! Beautiful fruit bowl 👍. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.

Absolutely gorgeous and with the bark left on. It’s just whether the bark will stay on over a long period of time?!😊
Beautiful piece of art.
Sounds heavy! Great work
Amazing how that bowl was hidden inside that block of wood this whole time!

Nice work once again! What was the carbide tool you use to clean the bottom out?
Another stunning piece. I actually have a live edge walnut bowl I've been meaning to turn but I really want to try my hand at making a goblet and seeing if I can't turn a ring or two on it for flair.😅
Thanks .. goblets are always a fun turn

@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop
would be proud, but you need to get a sand-o-flex for that bark. Lovely work, Andy. 😃
🤣 the legendary sandoflex
Beautiful wood grain on that one. Wondered about something while watching - have you ever ‘punched thru’ the bottom, and did you patch it or throw it on the firewood pile?

Beautiful work You should make a Halloween bowl ooooooo yes

Thank you!
Why does the tool not catch on the crack? Could you explain?
A sharp tool a fast lathe and practice 👍
Красотень, как всегда
At the five minute mark my thinking was … “he is making an oblate spheroid earth model with the bark as continents. How cool.”
Nice
❤
Wow! Another beauty! 🫠🤎
