Anastasia probably hadn't had a good, kind parental figure since Cinderella's father (Ana's stepfather) passed away. I kind of hope she got to stay on good terms with the king even after the events of the movie concluded.
I'm guessing her biological father passed when they were super young and her step father was a merchant so he wasn't around as much and he passed when they were still kids to, so his genuine kindness is something Anastasia needed. She had the potential for good and I'm glad she got that chance. There is the movie ever after where it's a Cinderella story that also has the second step child be the kinder one to help cindnerella
He seems to have become her father figure of some sort. It's really wholesome how Anastasia got a true family in Cinderella (a true sister) and in the King (a true parent figure).
@@herpderp3916 I hope they stayed in good terms too. The way the king treated her was so kind and wholesome and I really wish Anastasia got to have someone be a good parental figure to her.
My favorite part of Cinderella 3 is how Anastasia gained a new family in spirit. She now has Cinderella, truly, and even the King sees her as his own daughter due to her similarities with his late wife and seeing how she just wants to be accepted and loved.
I think its actually incredibly dark not only that Lady Tremaine tried to straight up murder Cinderella, but that of her plan had worked, Anastasia wouldve had to pretend she was someone she wasnt up until the day she died.
lady Tremaine’s plan was to effectively magically gaslight the prince into marrying her daughter. (Yes I am using the term correctly, the Prince was made to question his own sanity over his changed perception) Just a thing worth noticing
I don’t like it when people say the original Cinderella tale is a weak story. “You can always change your circumstances,” is great, but not everyone has that option. I didn’t. Cinderella was in an abusive situation, and she didn’t have any options. Yet, good things *did happen* to her. She wasn’t waiting around for a prince to save her, she literally just wanted to go to a party and have nice things, only for a night. Yes Cinderella 3 is a masterpiece :p
My mother grew up in an extremely abusive household, and she loves Cinderella for this reason. Cinderella deserves more respect, both the character and the story.
People may have issues with the mice who steal attention from Cinderella and don't let her show much personality and have good character development. That's why I prefer not the cartoonish disney Cinderella, but the live-action one starring Janina Żejmo (1947). Her Cinderella: 1. Has no clever animal friends, and that lets her have more screentime + makes her deal with (almost) all her problems on her own = no thoughts like "why the mice aren't the protagonist? They are better at moving the story and are more fun" 2. At the ball, she not only dances with the prince, but also helps the king with fixing his suit and entertains other guests. And thus it makes sense why the prince and the king loved her: she has shown them not only a pretty face, but also a kind, compassionate and joyful personality
Cinderella 3's out of context moments was straight up peak humor like when Anastasia picked up Fairy Godmother's wand and Drizella says, "Oh! Let's beat her with it!" or the Prince straight up jumping out of a window
As a child my mind broke with Cinderella 3, the stakes! The fairy godmother turned into stone! The prince don’t recognizing Cinderella! The fact that after he remembered her and I lowered my guard, A BRIDE CINDERELLA CLONE APPEAR!!!?!?! And an evil pumpkin carriage trapping Cinderella to her doom!? That was nightmarish, so twisted and contrasting with the dram like that she had at the ball, and the fact that after all of that at their wedding given the chance to get back to their original easier timeline, they decided to stay like this together, where both fought for their love!!!!! As a little girl I was a Disney princesses obsessed but Cinderella wasn’t a highlight, Cinderella 1 was one of the few dvds that we had so we gotten so usted to that status quo that Cinderella 3 braking and flipping that status quo was unbelievable, and made me have a soft spot for Cinderella and the prince, and you can see their chemistry and connection here, and oh the Prince! From a blank plot device to a full on himbo, he really jumped on my favorite princes chart. I just have a fondness for that movie and I appreciate how experimental and risky the creative team were
This movie was mind-blowing for me as a little kid too and the fact that Cinderella goes through so much crap in this movie scared me as a little kid and I felt so bad for her. I also love how this movie uses magic, in the first and second, magic is a good thing but in this movie, it shows that in the wrong hands, magic is powerful but can also be abused
The chemistry between Charming and Cinderella is also incredibly sweet. The fact that even when Charming is enchanted, he still knows that something is wrong and does his best to fight it. That scene where he somehow manages to get on the boat Cinderella is banished on, finally touches her hand and the dark clouds around them somehow brighten and become better as he finally breaks the spell and sees the girl he loves. It’s a surprising level of detail and care for storytelling in a direct to video sequel.
Don't forget that another reason Cinderella 3 works so well is that it could just be its own story and not a sequel. Everyone knows the story of Cinderella, and Disney's version followed the original fairy tale more closely than many of their other movies - you could have started with #3, without any of the previous ones, and it would still have worked.
As someone who watched this one before the original I must say that id true. The basics of the movie made sense to me and I got down what I needed to from the first and loved the overall story
I love the addition of Anastasia and the baker (from the second film) reconnecting in the credits! It just gives a good conclusion to her story! This movie really builds well on everything from the first film and addresses so many criticisms (like the shoe fitting only one person and the lack of personality from Prince Kit)
It made me sad they reckoned the guy for the whole film but then the credits came in and the crew said”sike we didn’t forget him.” He was so nice to someone we thought of as awful! He helped her see another side on how to love (along with Cinderella ofc) but I just wish he would’ve seen him again in the actual movie 😢
@@ishashifar I believe that Cinderella 2 came first. I remember the song that played in the credits was about believing in destiny or something. So, I think there was an underlying tone in the movie that two people who belong together will find each other (like Anastasia and the baker)
I like how Tremaine and Drizella have green magical effects but Anastasia had white from the beginning, it shows how she was always not evil but misguided rather !
The plot (and Prince Eric playing Prince Charming) is awesome--but I hate how some people said this made them like Cinderella because it showed she was "hard working" when she always was. Abused, passive characters do NOT deserve the hate!
@@alexwolf5916 He wasn't the original voice is what I mean. The fact that Eric's VA was chosen as his official replacement is so cool. In a way, I'm curious how Cinderella would sound if Ariel's VA played her instead of Jennifer Hale; she's an underrated voice actor.
@@OpticalSorcerer i love when my brain skips over words i watched this movie a few days ago and it had bugged me because i knew i've heard his voice recently as he also voices prince eric in disney dream light valley that was the connection but he also voices prince charming in cinderella 2 i just meant that they've had the same va for a minute and i found it funny/liked it
@@alexwolf5916 It's really cool. He started playing Prince Eric at 18, I think, so the fact that he's been able to keep that voice as well as playing another Disney prince is kind of a cool way of keeping it within the family.
Uhh I don’t think people hated her bc she was @bused?? I know the first movie taught at least one 5 year old (me) that no one will save you unless ur literally the most beautiful girl in the room and ur not allowed to like guys cause that makes you an ugly pick me. It taught me that only certain girls are worthy of escaping @buse. Can’t speak for others but that is why one kid didn’t like Disney’s Cinderella (at least she was allowed to be angry in the original movie-in the live action remake, it shamed victims who didn’t wanna “be kind” to their @busers. Like they didn’t even let her pound on the door and WANT to escape. All you’re allowed to do is be personality-less and passively sing to urself, without hope or assumption that anyone would recognize you:/
The reason Cinderella doesnt use the wand when she has the chance is simply because it's not in her character, and this reflects some really ancient beliefs about both magic and religion. In the first movie, Cinderella is humble, patient, and mostly content, not selfish or ambitious like Lady Tremain or her daughters, and her Fairy Godmother, similar to a guardian angel, uses her magic to reward Cinderella for her strength of character. By contrast, in the third movie, Lady Tremain steals the Fairy Godmother's magic and uses it for her own selfish purposes. In other words, Cinderella uses what's known as "right-handed magic," which comes as a reward for humbling oneself before God or the gods, and Lady Tremain uses what's known as "left-handed magic," wielding supernatural powers for her own gain. Simply put, Cinderella would never use stolen magic to get her way, because that would be the wrong thing to do. It's exactly the kind of thing that Lady Tremain would (and does) do.
@@kaitlinowens2714 yep she did but she was stuttering at that time probably overwhelmed and as the original comment said, it's simply not in Cinderella's character to do that
Part of why it works, is because at least in the version of the story I read of Cinderella, there actually was supposed to be one mean sister who called her Cinder, and one who is more kind and called her Ella. I feel like Disney trying to explore the concept of the kinder sister from the fairy tale and give her spotlight to be a great idea.
That's an interesting idea! I can imagine Lady Tremaine forbidding her daughters from saying the name Cinderella as a means to dehumanize her, so the mean sister would say Cinder to refer to her as a put out fire and an object, meanwhile the nicer sister would say Ella as it still sounds like a name.
It seems to me that cinderella always gets the best treatment. It got one of the best sequel animated movies of disney and got one of the best live action movie of disney. Whoever is in charge of cinderella sure does the story justice.
Also Cinderella is Walt Disney’s (the real one) most favourite fairytale. I believe Disney choose to show respect for its OG by representing Cinderella in the best way possible
The version I read had the stepmom and older stepsis call Cinderella with a very mean name (Cucendron in French, which is a combination of "ass" and "cinder" quite litterly, so I'd call her Cinderass in English if translating the name they call her) and Cendrillon (Cinderella) is the name used by the younger stepsis everytime she calls her since she is less cruel to her
The best part of Cinderella 2 had a lead-in from this movie anyway, with Cindy helping Anastasia in getting together with her own "Prince Charming" the Baker. A portrait of this happy couple appeared in the end credits of Cinderella 3 which really made me smile ☺
I simply adore the scene between the King and Anastasia. It perfectly highlights the blooming change in Anastasia's character. At first, she probably assumed the gift was going to be a piece of jewellery, perhaps a crown or just something of high standard; at first, she's a little dismayed at the sight of the shell, most likely perceiving it as invaluable. Expected considering she's been taught by her mother to grow up materialistic and expect the best of rewards. But she doesn't openly express disgust of any sort considering this would be disrespectful to the King (though had Cinderella done something similar in the first movie, Anastasia would've probably discarded it). Without the presence of her mother and sister in the room, she's beginning to be the good person she yearns to be. Of course, the king explains the importance of the shell, that being a symbol of true love, particularly between him and his late Queen. By the end, Anastasia is absolutely fascinated by the shell upon hearing his story and starts to cherish it, allowing her new view on true love help her blossom into a hero. On top of that, the King gets some brilliant development too. Simply a heart-warming scene in my eyes.
It's because you can tell the writers of this movie truly love the original, and wanted to build on it, rather than tear it down. It would've been so much easier to take shots at what didn't work from "Cinderella", but instead they took notes and improved them without damaging the characters: Anastasia gets so much development, Charming goes from a object character to agenuinely, well, charming love interest, and Cinderella gets to show how determined she is in making her dreams come true without ever dismissing her naturally kind personality, or having her screentime stolen by the (admittedly funny) mice. Heck, even considering the fact that Cinderella 2 didn't work as a sequel, they even added Prudence and the Baker: they didn't have to do it, but they did, and it was such a nice touch! It's not a perfect movie, but there's a lot of passion in it, and it's a must watch for every Disney fan!
I'm sorry but are we watching the same movie? I feel like both sequels have to bend and twist the characters so severely to make them work for their narratives that they barely resemble their source material selves. •Anastasia was just as cruel and abusive as her sister Drizella (the only thing she has going for her is a more attractive name than 🌧). Adding all this heart and deep-thinking to her suddenly in both sequels, comes so out of nowhere that it's like bad fan fiction. But people love a villain redemption story (Vegeta, Zuko, et al), so I'm not surprised they've latched onto her. •With the Prince, it goes without saying that the third film gives him humor and personality and that's great (they're essentially building on a blank foundation). It's just too bad it's kind of this 90s/00s sitcom dad humor. You almost expect there to be a canned laugh track playing after EVERY line he delivers. He doesn't feel like he belongs in this fantasy time period like all the other characters do. •The King is even worse. Yes, he's given more character but it feels diametrically opposite to his earlier depiction. In the first film, he's baby crazy, that's it, he's basic. So suddenly making him patient, compassionate, and understanding (using trite props 🐚 and rote, mechanical dead wife sob stories straight out of Screenwriting 101) is more jarring than impactful. •For Cinderella herself, I actually believe that she'd display the kind of relentless compassion/faith in humanity that'd enable her to forgive Anastasia like she does in the second film; that's kind of her thing. What I don't buy is the girl power/action hero Barbie stuff they shoe-horn her into in the third. But I get it, her main traits are "saint-like patience" and "does chores" and the Disney Princess Brand probably wanted to boost her up for modern women by giving her some agency and control over her life. Still, it just seems disingenuous for early Disney heroines like her, Snow White, and Aurora. If the Disney Princesses are indeed supposed to be role models, then it's fine to show the active fighters like Mulan, Merida, Tiana, Moana and the more caregiver-oriented ones like Cinderella. A woman doesn't need to be ALL things at all times. •Lastly, Lady Tremaine. She's one of Disney's greatest, cruelest villains. She has no superpowers, no magic spells, no real resources, just a withering glare and some intimidating words, but that's all she needs to make one person's life miserable. Her effectiveness lies in how realistic her wickedness is: she's passive in her evil, she manipulates others to do her bidding. Giving her a magic wand robs her of her of her trademark effectiveness and that's genuinely awful! Bear in mind, I'm not trying to say you're wrong: the Prince HAS more depth here and Anastasia IS someone your root for now. But these aren't simple additions "onto" their existing characters. Instead, they tore ALL of the characters in here apart down to their atoms and reconfigured them as new ones for a 2007 tween audience. At best, it's a somewhat lazy retcon; at worst, it's an act of disrespect to the original filmmakers.
@@annacarolina5134 Nice comeback, hope the writers you purchased it from didn't charge too much. Look if you disagree fine, but at least have the brain power to think up your own reply. 🙄
I feel like Cinderella 3 was made with the criticism of the first 2 movies in mind. 1. “Cinderella 2 should have just been Anastasia’s redemption.” that’s the driving plot for the film. 2. “The mice are useless and just take up screen time.” the mice are actually very helpful in this time. 3. “The prince is bland and Cinderella is just a damsel in distress.” the prince is a fun character and Cinderella fights for her happily ever after. 4. “The shoe could have fitted more than 1 girl.” The prince is aware who he danced with and he said early on the shoe thing was all he had to narrow it down.
I honestly still can't believe that the prince jumping out of the window is a real thing! It feels like a meme! Something funny some random person animated and not part of a real sequel to Disney's Cinderalla film! It's crazy!
The only Disney sequels that actually added something worthwhile to their respective franchises to justify their existence were Aladdin and the King of Thieves, The Lion King 2, The Little Mermaid 2, The Jungle Book 2 and Cinderella 3.
The fact that the Prince actually got a personality in the third movie is so awesome. Literally jumping off the balcony had me laughing as an adult. And Anastasia and the Baker. I'm glad they were still canon. They are so adorable.
Fun story, when I watched Cinderella in honor of its 70th anniversary before the Pandemic hit the U.S., I watched Cinderella III: A Twist in Time on Disney+ without ever watching Cinderella II: Dreams Come True. And to this day, I have no regrets skipping the first sequel and going straight to the second sequel.
@@MultiBoxingKid Pretty much. After the success of series like Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Tarzan Disney tried to turn more of its old films into TV shows. They tried to do it with Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, but Disney saw that the shows weren't that good and canceled them before they aired. But for some reason they released some of the episodes on DVD and called them a movie. And that's why Cinderella 2 is so bad, it came from a failed TV show.
Cinderella 2 has with "Follow Your Heart" one of the best Disney Songs! The last refrain is the most motivating thing and I sing it whenever I need to get things done haha
i remember seeing this movie at the theaters and being so terrified at the idea the evil stepsisters would reverse everything that had happened. I was so genuinely invested in the story, it is one of my fondest Disney memories
@@shisah5544 it actually was. That's how I got the dvd actually, there was a small contest held by a radio in Belgium right before the show began and I got the dvd like that. I remember being annoyed because I would've preferred to have gotten a VHS lol (tho I didn't say it out loud).
@@shisah5544 - Looking it up, it appears it may have been in European theaters. It also could have been a children's showing. I know that many theaters will show movies that are already out on dvd during the summer as an activity for families.
Lil bit of a tangent here, but this movie really holds a special place in my heart because the first time I watched it was over at a friend's house when I was like, 7, I believe. I don't actually have many memories of that time, but the memory of that day is very bright. Her parents were very eccentric so every wall was painted a different vibrant color. There was a small, cutesy, colorful Tv on a plastic table out in the hallway outside her room. Her vcr was pink, decorated with barbie stickers. We sat in beanbags watching all the Cinderella movies that afternoon because it was way too hot to be outside. It's not much about the actual movies, 😅 but watching this made me nostalgic.
I LOVED this movie. They really gave Cindy the sequel and personality she deserved after getting so much backlash for being a "damsel" and they hilighted exactly how nasty the stepmother is. I really loved the opening shot of how happy her and the prince are and the "happily ever after" is shown rather than implied like every other fairytale movie.
Cinderella III and Lion King 2 are my favorite Disney sequels from that era. They put in so much thought and care to them, and their efforts really shown. Also, I want to say that it is so hilariously in character how Fairy Godmother lost her wand. The first movie showed that she was a bit careless with the thing (aren’t we all?) so losing it due to her clumsiness was perfect.
the scene at 8:07, it's sooooooo rare to find animated characters having this much chemistry, like I felt this scene from the way they look at each other
No one ever believed me when I said I loved Cinderella 3. For me Anastasia getting a romance arc with the baker, the way she was portrayed, her redemption, the prince’s personality, the kings as well, even Cinderella herself seemingly growing as a character made this movie an absolute favorite of mine as a little girl
9:12 Another thing this film utilises brilliantly is the use of pause - not just in this scene, but several times throughout the story. The way a moment is given proper time to sink in before dialogue resumes just makes the emotional build up all the greater 💗 SOOOO many shows (even my absolute favourites) don’t utilise this to its full potential! 😩
The fact that all characters in cinderella III have more character development more characteristics than any disney sequels, all disney movies since 2009 or even new live actions. But I do kinda wish that they swap two sequels and work better on it.
Does this mean that its safe to say that I grew up on Cindy 3 more than Cindy 1? Ngl, now that I look back at Anastasia, I find her cute and endearing. I can relate to her with her constant apologizing, awkwardness, and realization of how she wanted love for being herself, not forced. I love her interaction with the King for the wholesome Father-daughter vibes. The King was the most important person for Anastasia in this story because of what she learned. The Prince is just too funny in that window thing. Reminder that this scene was greenlit and animated by real people 😂 WAIT TREMAINE WAS ALSO VOICED BY WANDA?! Okay that’s too fitting
in 4:19 when it was mentioned that the green smoke/magic represented envy I'd like to point out a detail that drizzella(not sure if I got that right) and lady tremaine both have green in their clothing (drizzella's dress, tremaine's broach and jewelries) which can represent their envy while anastasia has none
This, along with The Lion King 1/2 are the only two straight to dvd Disney movies that I actually like and ones that I don’t have a single problem with.
Bambii 2 was great but that one went to theaters in a lot of countries. I think US was one of the few that didn't sadly. A great story about an estranged father learning to connect with his young son after the tragic death of the boy's mother and the trauma he carries from that.
Personally I think Lion King 2 is cool. I really enjoyed the romeo and juliet type of story and I think its animation is on the better side for disney's animated sequels too.
I liked a lot of the Disney sequels at the time. Bambi 2 (I actually prefer this to the original Bambi), Lion King 2 and 1 1/2. Cinderella 2 (although mostly the Anastasia story) and 3, Lilo and Stitch where they freed many monsters, etc.
@@L16htW4rr10r same i actually grew up waiting for many disney sequels and didnt really notice the visual quality difference and didnt hate the episodic nature of some of them in fact i often preferred them over just typical movie plots (tarzen and jane, cinderella 2, atlantis milo's return were probably my faves)
When I was a child I was obsessed with the mlp episode of the wedding in Canterlot and that thing where some person stole another's identity, so Cinderella III was the best thing in the world to me, I even remember seeing an edit about Cinderella's clone with the "This Day Aria" song in the background, but I think they saddly deleted the video the movie was great, I didn't understood why people throw so much hate to it, now I still don't understand it live and let live, bye, good video
A disney movie with a prince as the main character would have had so much potential. Sad to see how they only make new visuals on top of the same storyline over and over.
For me my favorite moment in Cinderella 2 was the Baker story. Thats the only section worth watching. Number 3 i enjoyed that they didn't returned to the past to prevent the wand getting stolen, but let the current time line continue.
I love the reactions with the prince, like when he ducks the horse under a falling portcullis and the horse gives him a look like "Don't you EVER do that shit again mate, I WILL kick you through a wall..." and when he lands after the acrobatics with the sails and just takes a moment, surprised that he somehow survived and pulled that series of moves off.
I honestly did like the second one because it was something lighthearted and fun, and as an adult it makes me feel nostalgic. Plus, you add in the fact that it showed Cinderella coming into her own as a princess doing her duties in the palace, and Anastasia falling in love and forming a real connection with Cinderella as a real sister, for me that's a lot of good things that it brings to the table. It does have it's flaws here and there, but to me it was a cute film that helped to set up certain plot points that led the way to the third film.
In a way I wish they could have slipped in the outfit that Anastasia received in her Dreams Come True segment. The dress and hairstyle really suited her, and in a way really showed how her mother’s influence marred her own judgement even down to her appearance.
Would argue The Jungle Book also has both, but your mileage may vary. I also didn't exactly hate Aladdin's live action movie, but certainly there were better ones...but it does have maybe the best direct-to-DVD sequel in Aladdin and the King of Thieves.
Exactly, the only part I loved in Cinderella 2 was the part with Anastasia. It was really confusing with the timeline as well and it took me a while to understand to make it make sense with Anastasia's story in Cinderella 2 connect with the timeline in Cinderella 3. She was already having a redemption arch in Cinderella 2 and suddenly it's gone in the first parts of Cinderella 3. I mean she already stood up to Lady Tremaine and somehow she's forgotten all about it in the 3rd movie?? With the going back in time though, it would make a little sense how she still hasn't met the baker and didn't have her redemption arch yet but still it doesn't work because it already happened in the 2nd movie. The only way it would work with the timeline is that if this was the second movie instead of the third.
They honestly probably could have remedied the wand thing with a few scenes showing getting a spell right is tricky and risky. Maybe the stepmother needs to study for the specific spells she wants or something
My silly theory (that's 10000% wrong) is cuz Disney knew they were gonna buy Fox (that comes with Fox Animation Studios as well) and wanted their version of Anastasia to be just as good as Fox's version lmao
I have such fond memories of this movie. Funnily, I actually watched this first before the original. I always really enjoyed this movie as a kid and always state that this is my favorite Disney sequel. I really sympathize with Anastasia and love her great character development. Not to mention they made the Prince an actual character. Glad this film is getting more love! ❤
In a world with many terrible live action remakes and terrible direct to dvd sequels, Cinderella had the only one of each that had a decent amount new and meaningful to say.
to put it simply an interesting story/plot good animation (unlike most disney princess sequels) great character development (prince) & character redemption (anastasia)
it amuses me that, for some unknown reason, Drizella's apron is so historicalli accuard, having no straps and being probably just pinned to her bodice.
I only watched this movie once as a child, and it left a lasting impression on me. I think about how much I liked the redemption arc of Anastasia. I don't remember all of the funny little things here and there, might have to rewatch it soon. But I always just liked it. I love when a character gets a redemption arc in most things and this is by far one of my favorite ever.
Cinderella III was a good take on the original Disney tale. It hard charm to it, is animated well, and is an absolute ball (no pun intended). Cinderella III is loads better then the soulless Disney live action remakes like the Little Mermaid or the Lion King.
So i watched this movie the other night with my aunt who never knew it existed and now its honestly her favorite of all the cinderella movies even my mom loves this one espeically when the prince jumps out the window god that scene was just so BLASTED PERFECT
Cinderella is my all time favourite, could always relate. Even the live action was the BEST and sadly Disney didn’t learn from greatness. But I totally agree with you, Cinderella 2 was sooooo baaaaaad. In the live action, Anastasia isn’t as bad as Drizella, you never once see her ripping Cinderella’s dress. Maybe she did, but you don’t see one frame
The premise feels so stupid and coming from an executive, but the writing and animation was pure gold. I was laughing so hard throughout this movie, Benjamin and Sebastian's rival were so funny.
I literally watched this movie with my daughter for the first time ever yesterday. Actually it was enjoyable. Trying to make a continuity timeline it seems that the 2nd Cinderella is the last one with the 3rd one in the middle. But granted these are just direct to video movies no point in putting much stock into it. .....but yeah....the third one was the best v
This movie was my childhood. I watched it everyday and was my personal favorite movie. In my opinion Cinderella 3 and Peter Pan 2 (return to neverland) was probably the best Disney sequels ever
12:12 They literally worked together to make a full dress for her in a big ol musical sequence✨ I’m pretty sure if they can do that using just a sewing book as reference, they can fix a glass shoe😂 Plus if anything, their size makes it easier to see where smaller pieces fit together and make a more seamless repair💁🏼♀️✨ That being said, I agree with the rest of your video!…aside from Cinderella II completely sucking, I liked that film growing up and appreciate what they did with Cinderellas introduction to life as a princess and Anastasia’s story arc! Jacque’s story tho WAS kinda stupid and could’ve been left out…also the side plot in Anastasia’s bit where the mice are helping Lucifer impress a girl🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
15:20 “the fairy godmother allowed them to live” Was- was she going to execute them? I mean they did commit identity fraud but like there’s hardly wand law that decrees the death penalty
The fact that they gave Charming a great personality that blends well with Cinderella is such a great addition to the story! Also, Charming is a comedian lol
I feel like they got inspiration from the Cinderella adaptation film, Ever After, 1998 (so way before the sequels), for Anastasia. In that film, Jacqueline, one of the step-sisters was actually nice to Danielle (Cinderella) throughout the story while being her mother's less favorite. Near the end of the film, she and Captain Laurent fall in love and she was spared from punishment when her mother and sister were forced to work in the laundry room at the royal palace.
Funny enough, the Cinderella section in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep actually had some of the best Disney/main plot integration in the Kingdom Hearts games, even as it followed the original story of the first movie. Seriously, Terra has a bunch of adorable moments with Cinderella that lead into a payoff with Aqua, who also asks to try on the glass slipper to help give Cinderella time to escape. Also Ven gets to have fun with the mice, a very Ven thing to do.
I was so shocked when I first saw this movie but let's be honest. If it wasn't for 1998's Ever After with Drew Barrymore there would not have been deeper explorations to the character of Cinderella. Ever After and Ella Enchanted (the book not the movie, good god NOT THE MOVIE) have been the best adaptations of Cinderella I have seen. I remember seeing the movie at age 4 and since then Cinderella has been my favorite Princess. She is the one I cherish most, even though Mulan and Merida are closer to who I am as a person, Cinderella is someone you can aspire to be. It has always annoyed me that the Marketing Machine reduced her character so much they had to make such a strong effort to make sure she was not a fool, a victim, going after the prince in the first place. Cinderella was a nice girl who lost her parents and did the best she could in her circumstances without loosing hope, kindness and inner strenght who only wanted to go to a party that was open to everyone in the kingdom. She had no ulterior motives but fate led her to happiness. Any production who fails to understand that is not a true Cinderella story. Another connection to Ever After and Cinderella 3 is that Anastasia/Jaqueline (one of the step sisters) is not as bad as her mother and sister (This is also an idea in the book Ella Enchanted but we are only talking movies). Expanding her character and then letting her find happiness while her mother and sister remain unrepentant is also a trend that started after Ever After. If you really want to see the best Cinderella story in movies made so far, I do recommend that one (I have not seen Brandi's version or descendants, although I remember when it came out. I was too obsessed with Mulan to go back to Cindy. One of these days I might give it a watch). It was a reason why I liked Cinderella 3 as much as I did too.
this reminds me of my childhood so much and i remember thinking that the second movie was just some really boring and unimportant short film or something.
The thing I loved most from the sequel was that they gave Prince Charming some personality😂😂he is one of my favorite Disney princes because of that, plus Anastasia got her happy ending as well❤
Aladdin - King of thieves Lion King 2 Bambi II Lady and the Tramp II 101 Dalmatians - Patch's London adventure Jungle Book II Were actually pretty nice sequels, too! They made the right choices and werepretty entertaining to watch PLUS some of them even added more context or worldbuilding to the original story
Ah yea, all of them (except Dalmatians, never watch it before) are my favorite too! And also some other things didn't mention here. I liked Tarzan 2 too, at least for the lava surfing(?) part. It's not realistic, but you can't tell me it didn't look epic.
The only major problem i have with this film is giving Anasthasia another charcter arc like in Cinderella 2. But for the rest, was a greatful surprise se a good se for the first film i ever saw.
I went to a friends house for a movie night. It was her choice to pick and she picked the Cinderella trilogy DVD that she had. The first movie was a great trip down memory lane. The second was a snore fest and I fell asleep from boredom. Woke up just in time for the 3rd film And I LOVED IT.
The connection between the king and Anastasia is genuinely one of the sweetest platonic relationships I've seen in any Disney movie
Anastasia probably hadn't had a good, kind parental figure since Cinderella's father (Ana's stepfather) passed away. I kind of hope she got to stay on good terms with the king even after the events of the movie concluded.
@@herpderp3916it seems to be that way. She actually falls in love with the baker from the second movie again, which is sweet.
Anastasia is probably my earliest favorite redeeming character
@@OReily08080 omg same!!
If I recall the end credits even showed she ends up with the Baker still which shows they were meant to be no matter what timeline.
I think its actually incredibly dark not only that Lady Tremaine tried to straight up murder Cinderella, but that of her plan had worked, Anastasia wouldve had to pretend she was someone she wasnt up until the day she died.
I…hadn’t thought of that. Concerning Anastasia I mean. Holy Toledo, talk about your identity crisis.
lady Tremaine’s plan was to effectively magically gaslight the prince into marrying her daughter. (Yes I am using the term correctly, the Prince was made to question his own sanity over his changed perception)
Just a thing worth noticing
Wow I hadn’t thought of it that way, that is pretty dark.
Anastasia said no at the wedding so it wouldn’t have worked anyway.
@KeiRyu-mp7ki also I think the prince could immediately tell somthing was off the moment he touched her hands, further playing into her guilt.
That true..cinderella the original is very good actually☺
People tend to overlook the quiet inner strength of characters, both in reality and fiction.
People may have issues with the mice who steal attention from Cinderella and don't let her show much personality and have good character development.
That's why I prefer not the cartoonish disney Cinderella, but the live-action one starring Janina Żejmo (1947). Her Cinderella:
1. Has no clever animal friends, and that lets her have more screentime + makes her deal with (almost) all her problems on her own = no thoughts like "why the mice aren't the protagonist? They are better at moving the story and are more fun"
2. At the ball, she not only dances with the prince, but also helps the king with fixing his suit and entertains other guests. And thus it makes sense why the prince and the king loved her: she has shown them not only a pretty face, but also a kind, compassionate and joyful personality
exactly! cinderella is my favourite Disney princess ever and the one I relate to the most
Cinderella 3 was literally 'what if' situation that turned into a movie.
Loved it
That's what came up on my mind at the beginning of the film. It feels good to know someone had figured it out.
The spanish title is literally "Cenicienta 3: Qué pasaría si..." which means "What would happen if"
Literally Cinderella III was written by the mice.
Cinderella 3's out of context moments was straight up peak humor like when Anastasia picked up Fairy Godmother's wand and Drizella says, "Oh! Let's beat her with it!" or the Prince straight up jumping out of a window
"but the talking mice say she's the wrong girl!" "? SON???!!!" is also a gem.

That line cracked me up so hard when I heard it.
I just have a fondness for that movie and I appreciate how experimental and risky the creative team were
This would make for an _amazing_ stage adaptation
This movie was mind-blowing for me as a little kid too and the fact that Cinderella goes through so much crap in this movie scared me as a little kid and I felt so bad for her. I also love how this movie uses magic, in the first and second, magic is a good thing but in this movie, it shows that in the wrong hands, magic is powerful but can also be abused
I realized that giving Lady Tremaine the ultimate weapon for gaslighting and manipulation plays great into the story of escaping abuse
Don’t forget the meme of the prince jumping out a window
i think a chatGTP had made this movie, somehow
The chemistry between Charming and Cinderella is also incredibly sweet. The fact that even when Charming is enchanted, he still knows that something is wrong and does his best to fight it. That scene where he somehow manages to get on the boat Cinderella is banished on, finally touches her hand and the dark clouds around them somehow brighten and become better as he finally breaks the spell and sees the girl he loves.
It’s a surprising level of detail and care for storytelling in a direct to video sequel.
To me, Cinderella III set the standard of how sequels should be done. They're extending the story not retelling it in a supbar way.
It made me sad they reckoned the guy for the whole film but then the credits came in and the crew said”sike we didn’t forget him.”
He was so nice to someone we thought of as awful! He helped her see another side on how to love (along with Cinderella ofc) but I just wish he would’ve seen him again in the actual movie 😢
@@sakiamira yeah that kind of made me wonder did cinderella 3 take place before the events of Cinderella 2?
Heck, just making one of the wicked stepsisters having a redemption arc was a trendsetter.
@@ishashifar I believe that Cinderella 2 came first. I remember the song that played in the credits was about believing in destiny or something. So, I think there was an underlying tone in the movie that two people who belong together will find each other (like Anastasia and the baker)
Anastasia's redemption arc is my bread and butter
I like how Tremaine and Drizella have green magical effects but Anastasia had white from the beginning, it shows how she was always not evil but misguided rather !
The green magic is also a funny nod to Maleficent, who shares her VA with Lady Tremaine in the original film
They also have similarities in their designs @@mauricesteel4995
The plot (and Prince Eric playing Prince Charming) is awesome--but I hate how some people said this made them like Cinderella because it showed she was "hard working" when she always was. Abused, passive characters do NOT deserve the hate!
theyve always had the va and i love that tbh
Also if I remember rightly she tried to do it once she saw the prince but she was arrested before she got the chance.
Dang, I never knew that was a thing. Pretty cool
@@kaitlinowens2714 yep she did but she was stuttering at that time probably overwhelmed and as the original comment said, it's simply not in Cinderella's character to do that
True
I remembered watching this movie credit just to find out if she met the Baker again. And they did! :,D
Well said 👏🏽
I'm sorry but are we watching the same movie?

Everyone loves Cinderella but the story of the repentant stepsister teaches you to be a better version of yourself.

The way a moment is given proper time to sink in before dialogue resumes just makes the emotional build up all the greater 💗
SOOOO many shows (even my absolute favourites) don’t utilise this to its full potential! 😩
The fact that all characters in cinderella III have more character development more characteristics than any disney sequels, all disney movies since 2009 or even new live actions. But I do kinda wish that they swap two sequels and work better on it.
You heard it confirmed here folks... Spider-man is officially a Disney prince.
Reminder that this scene was greenlit and animated by real people 😂

The self yeeting is iconic 😂
in 4:19 when it was mentioned that the green smoke/magic represented envy I'd like to point out a detail that drizzella(not sure if I got that right) and lady tremaine both have green in their clothing (drizzella's dress, tremaine's broach and jewelries) which can represent their envy while anastasia has none

A disney movie with a prince as the main character would have had so much potential.
Sad to see how they only make new visuals on top of the same storyline over and over.
Yesss
For me my favorite moment in Cinderella 2 was the Baker story. Thats the only section worth watching. Number 3 i enjoyed that they didn't returned to the past to prevent the wand getting stolen, but let the current time line continue.
2:05 NGL, it was that clip on another analyst video on Cinderella III that convinced me to watch it. Someone knew what they were doing.
Rare for a film that is third installment from a film 50 years ago, and in my opinion superior to the original.
The fact that anastasia is daisy and drizella is minerva mouse is sending me.
Just watched Cinderella 2, and I enjoy it
I liked the 2nd film, too. It's not perfect, but it's still very much enjoyable in its own right. 😊😁
Its because they gave more personality to other characters especially Anastasia,Prince,The King etc.
In a way I wish they could have slipped in the outfit that Anastasia received in her Dreams Come True segment. The dress and hairstyle really suited her, and in a way really showed how her mother’s influence marred her own judgement even down to her appearance.
Cinderella, the only Disney movie with a good sequel and good live action movie
I like how they spent the last two Cinderella movies setting up a redemption arc for Anastasia.
In a world with many terrible live action remakes and terrible direct to dvd sequels, Cinderella had the only one of each that had a decent amount new and meaningful to say.
to put it simply
an interesting story/plot
good animation (unlike most disney princess sequels)
great character development (prince) & character redemption (anastasia)
it amuses me that, for some unknown reason, Drizella's apron is so historicalli accuard, having no straps and being probably just pinned to her bodice.
15:10 i never saw this movie but this made me cry, Anastasia really has my heart
the only part of Cinderella 2 i liked was the lover story with the baker, i always thought it was so cute 🥺
OK but the Prince had the prettiest eyelashes like damn
Maybe she did, but you don’t see one frame
and just like in the animated movies, live action drizella is kind of mean to her sister
The Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning is a good prequel third installment, too. but i feel like it's so underrated that only a few talk about it
The premise feels so stupid and coming from an executive, but the writing and animation was pure gold. I was laughing so hard throughout this movie, Benjamin and Sebastian's rival were so funny.
Thank you for reminding me. It has one of my favourite villain in Disney (although I can't remember her name), I just really love her design.
Not gonna lie, I love every single little mermaid sequel. I loved The Little Mermaid 2 FAR more than the first movie, honestly
I truly believe Cinderella 3 is on par with the original and might even be a little better
I truly enjoyed this film when I watched as a kid. It felt like a perfect sequel to the OG. Crazy that it’s universally beloved by others as well.
I literally watched this movie with my daughter for the first time ever yesterday. Actually it was enjoyable. Trying to make a continuity timeline it seems that the 2nd Cinderella is the last one with the 3rd one in the middle. But granted these are just direct to video movies no point in putting much stock into it.
.....but yeah....the third one was the best v
its basically a really good fanfiction
This movie was my childhood. I watched it everyday and was my personal favorite movie. In my opinion Cinderella 3 and Peter Pan 2 (return to neverland) was probably the best Disney sequels ever
Cinderella 3 was definitely my comfort movie when I was younger. Something about it was just so different, especially from other sequels, trilogies
12:12 They literally worked together to make a full dress for her in a big ol musical sequence✨ I’m pretty sure if they can do that using just a sewing book as reference, they can fix a glass shoe😂
Plus if anything, their size makes it easier to see where smaller pieces fit together and make a more seamless repair💁🏼♀️✨
That being said, I agree with the rest of your video!…aside from Cinderella II completely sucking, I liked that film growing up and appreciate what they did with Cinderellas introduction to life as a princess and Anastasia’s story arc! Jacque’s story tho WAS kinda stupid and could’ve been left out…also the side plot in Anastasia’s bit where the mice are helping Lucifer impress a girl🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Finally Cinderella 3 getting her flowers ✨
15:20 “the fairy godmother allowed them to live”
Was- was she going to execute them? I mean they did commit identity fraud but like there’s hardly wand law that decrees the death penalty
They mean let Cinderella and the Prince continue on this timeline, instead of just undoing all that happened during the movie
Thank you for showing us those voice actors and what else they voice acted.
Cinderella 2 and specially 3, made Anastasia my favourite Disney character. I love her arc.
And here I am not even knowing there was a Cinderella two.
This was my favorite movie as a kid. It came in a pretty case and i loved it so much. A great addition to the series
The best sequel because we see the prince and Cinderella flirting and cavorting and happy life throughout
By watching this video, I agree that it worked as it fleshed out most characters and really shows how sequels can be an improvement to the original
damn Cinderella 3: into the Cinderverse goes hard
Honestly the best version Disney 2D animated princess series I've ever seen
Funny enough, the Cinderella section in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep actually had some of the best Disney/main plot integration in the Kingdom Hearts games, even as it followed the original story of the first movie.
Seriously, Terra has a bunch of adorable moments with Cinderella that lead into a payoff with Aqua, who also asks to try on the glass slipper to help give Cinderella time to escape. Also Ven gets to have fun with the mice, a very Ven thing to do.
No one's talking about what an absolute gem of a character Drizella is!! She is hilarious in this, one of my favorite Disney characters ever xD
the prince jumping out of the window was the best part
12:26 I Can't with this Guy! I Can't Stop Replaying this scene! XD
I will never not laugh at the prince's character added in here. "... okaay" YEET XD
I love this movie. Especially how you get a better insight of the Prince’s character and overall the movie adds something to the storyline
this reminds me of my childhood so much and i remember thinking that the second movie was just some really boring and unimportant short film or something.
this is definitely one of the greatest direct to video Disney sequels
The thing I loved most from the sequel was that they gave Prince Charming some personality😂😂he is one of my favorite Disney princes because of that, plus Anastasia got her happy ending as well❤
Aladdin - King of thieves
Lion King 2
Bambi II
Lady and the Tramp II
101 Dalmatians - Patch's London adventure
Jungle Book II
Were actually pretty nice sequels, too!
That scene, you know the one, never fails to make me laugh XD
“I forbid you from taking another step down those stairs!!”
“….. Okay” *proceeds to jump out the fucking window*
One word describes this movie to me.... "YEET!"
The only major problem i have with this film is giving Anasthasia another charcter arc like in Cinderella 2. But for the rest, was a greatful surprise se a good se for the first film i ever saw.
My brother and I use to rewind and watch the prince jumping out the window scene over and over because it was just so funny to us haha
