That sounds delicious. Since there's green beans in it, I think I will add a can of French fried onions to the top after putting the cheese on. Just for some crunch and a little more onion flavor 😋 ❤

You lost me at the green beans. Lol. The rest looks good though! I wonder what one can of cream of onion soup would taste like mixed with a can of the cream of potato. There are a lot of possibilities for ingredients in this.
I found out if I keep my mouth closed and refuse to open it while cutting onion..then you won’t have any tears 😭
I have all ingredients except the cream of potato. Will do cream of mushroom since I have a plethora of it. Thanks for the dinner idea today! Yumm

It's an induction burner, so I don't heat up the house, just the pan.

My box says bake at 450.Why can you cook this at 350 for the same time and it be done??
Right before I put the dish in the oven, I said Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove and sprinkle cheese on tip. Place back in oven and cook an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese has melted and potatoes are tender. So, if you are at the 40-minute mark and your potatoes are not at the desired tenderness bake until they are. Mine was in for 38 minutes at 350 and the potatoes were nice and tender.

Oh Catherine this dish really looks so delicious, I have not prefered augratin potatoes, but the thing I like about that box is the potatoes are separate and so is the sauce mix and that is great and I would love to make this casserole, I also would love to put some french fried onions on the top after the cheese is on, because I really love those french fried onions, they have a great flavor. I use that paper towel trick all the time now. I used 85%/15% ground Chuck. So still some grease.
This sounds good and quick and easy to make - meat and potatoes perfect for the hubby! Also, I made the macaroni salad in your first cookbook and directions said to chill the elbow noodles. I have never seen this in a mac salad recipe before but I did it. I don't what it is about chilling the elbow noodles but it was the BEST macaroni salad I have ever made per my husband's comment. It will be the only one I make from now on! Thanks for a great recipe Catherine.

You can use 2 cans for a little extra moisture.

@@CatherinesPlates I do have 3 Jadeite mixing bowls ( 3 sizes ) but I don't dare use them.I'm afraid I'll break them.I also don't use my Mom's Pyrex bowls from 1946.My older daughter wants them someday.I told her only when she stops moving so much.
