- NASCAR ‘21 is picking up a bit of steam when it comes to hype. Videos are coming out, rumors are leaking, and there is a bit of talk for a new era. So today I wanted to look back at this series and see where we can go from here and how big this entry into the series can end up being. This is why NASCAR ‘21 will be the most important NASCAR game EVER!

What changes do you think that the new NASCAR games need?
A new game mode for driving into oncoming traffic dedicated to Michael Mrucz
Racing in the rain and a real time running order graphic
This isn’t THAT important but id LOVE to see WAY better crash physics. I’d like to see something more realistic and make the crashes way more realistic because it’s something nascar games have always lacked in my eyes
Silly season in career mode
Career improvement.
NASCAR "Heat" has to improve 3 things for me to take them serious.
1. Physics
2. Physics
3. Physics
Player physics, AI physics, and crash physics.
Basically like how you see crashes on tv
@@sarcasticsaber8902 just like nascar 14 or something like that
And the damage should be like beamng drive
At this point Garry's Mod probably has better driving physics than the Heat series.
@@luke8986 yeess like NASCAR '14 or '15 "wall physics", and when the car fly/get airborne something like 2011 game, cause it's so strange see the car slide under grass like on ice and under asphalt just send it to the moon

Very unprofessional Darian.... lol
Dude, it'll probably be bad. Might end up being "okay", optimistic to think it'll be "decent". If it's at least okay, it's something to build off for the next one.

I love the career mode like F1 has, implement that and i'll sink a couple hundred more hours into it.
The F1 games have the best career mode in modern racing games.
I just want a damn paint shop like from the older games dirt to Daytona and nascar thunder
I want a custom online season like F1 so me and my friend can race the AI together.
But single player career mode is by far the most important to me.
@@RedCometXIII imagine if we could put nascars in a f1 game and race like chase or larson or someone like that against lewis hamilton or verstappen lol
That would be sick
We absolutely NEED caution replays. Crazy the recent games don’t have em
Right? They literally had that almost 20 years ago. I know thunder 2003 had it. And every EA game after.
yes but they should be optional. I thinks personnaly that just having the spotter commentating on what happened on track is enough. having the game pause everytime something happened isn't good in my opinion.
You cant watch a replay when you drive backwards and hit the field?!? Madness!
At this point, I just hope NASCAR 21 is just better than Heat as an overall...
*Its get better or bust*

The racing is just bad
@@jeremiahevans7752 the game modes are awful the racing’s the strongest part and that’s not saying much since it’s a horrible game
Nascar 21 has no lobbies, no split screen, no set ups. Game isn't worth $10. I'll stick with older nascar games
busted busted.....
want to bring back the older fans make a "legends" division series with cars from the 70s.80s and 90s, the winged mopars, the 70s Torinos to the 80s T birds and monte carlos and the 90s Luminas, Buicks and T birds with all the old drivers and paint schemes they could also bring back the old tracks like Wilkesboro, Rockingham, Riverside etc
Exactly.
I 100% agree with this
Actually that’s a really good idea, and bring back Pikes Peak, Nazareth (R.I.P), Rockingham, you catch my drift...
They should definitely focus on 1 game with a shit ton of features that can last multiple years before needing to make a new game

What makes me determine if a movie is good? That it's so bad it makes me laugh. I'm a simple guy. Sadly, this has not translated to video games, especially the revival of NASCAR Heat, but the clip at 0:42 got me on my knee trying to contain my laughter.

Nice reference.
There needs to be 2 different modes within career mode: the fight to the top single driver style career mode, and the owner driver style career mode of NT2004
Online franchise like the madden franchise series? Everyone is a owner and upgraded their cars, and then everyone watches a simulated version of the race with car they own in it. Maybe even be crew chief, and pick when you pit for fuel and tires.
@@brettludwig7701 yah all that except not online
Wow. It's so crazy how many people in their 20s got hooked on NASCAR because of Thunder 2004. I remember doing the exact same thing of just messing around with it on my PS2 at first and then eventually figuring out how to race clean with the AI and try so many different QUALITY modes in that game. It's probably the reason I got so into NASCAR at a young age and even probably helped me realize what I wanted to do with my life. Simply amazing what the devs did with that game.
The paint booth needs improvement for sure. I would love if you could build a multi car team in career mode. Where you can race in one series, but hire drivers and manage the team in other series.
I always wondered why you could own your own team but only have 1 car... They need actual fans apart of the development team that can give them ideas to make it in depth and fun
The paint booth definitely needs a huge upgrade. More sponsorships. And make it where you can choose your sponsor. Multiple cars & paint schemes. Design your own paint scheme.
That’s actually a pretty legitimate request... and could we also have it where if you sign a contract and a team that may have not been used in a while (Ex. Xfinity Series: JR Motorsports No. 5 and No. 88, RCR, Car No. 33 etc, you get the drill?)
Since NASCAR 21 is coming to switch I think this will bring in more of a new fan base
Hopefully they get someone who can make a good/decent port and not pull a WWE 2K18.
I've been wanting a Switch NASCAR game for a long time, but since it's coming to Switch, I'm concerned the new game will be overly arcade and wonky, like the current Heat games.
@@kebab3703 I would think that as well but the switch has very good racing games on the Eshop the only thing I am wondering is for tilt controls and how it operates
@@kebab3703 but can you imagine the online for that game? It’s been reported that Nintendo’s online services still use Windows 98 levels of technology. It’s on Twitter last I saw

This is 704's last shot in my book. It NEEDS to perform
Agreed, i've bought the heat series since h2. This is the last chance in my opinion as well.
Plus EA's recent acquisition of Codemasters also puts the F1 games at serious risk of potentially being ruined.
@@ArbitraryOutcome uhh no. some ea games are good. fifa 21 is decent
@@NinjaXavier2 I can’t tell if you’re being serious.
@@austinemms9772 i play fifa 21.
I bought and played Heat 5 on the day of release. The initial trophy in the game as the Heat 4 one. Applying the real trophies at the tracks, such as the Six Shooters at Texas, The James Earl Trophy, Miles the Monster and others, would go a long way toward immersion. It's underrated things like that which keep players coming back for more.
NASCAR should take some notes from the Formula 1 video games. Driver retirements, driver promotions, in depth career mode, in depth creation of your own racing team. I mean the list goes on and on.
Also...if they brought back a classic game. With modern graphics and game play. Able to pick classic drivers. Old cars. Like the 1990 lumina. 87 wrangler. If they did that people would buy them off the shelf
For the love of God all I want is good physics, a paintbooth, and a really good career mode. We will be at 6 games by now. I just want those three things and that's all. I don't care if it's only the cup series or whatever. As long as I get those three things I will be happy and willing to pay for the game.
And I hooked that baby to the left and went backwords🤣 that was also me as a child in 06
When I heard that I died laughin
That’s me even now, lol. It’s especially funny in NASCAR Racing 2003 Season for PC, the physics make it amazing to watch the cars go flying when going backwards into the field.
I also wish they added replays for split screen multiplayer. I remember me and my bro were racing fontana and I beat him by .001 and we weren't able to see what it looked like. 😔
PS- they should seriously look at the f1 games cause they are really good not only graphics but physics as well.
If nascar did a fraction of what code master does I'll be amazed. F1 is just fabulous
Lol it's missing so much stuff, but yea def should have replays in there smh... Simple stuff that other racing games have, this still doesn't have
if only the f1 physics were actually as good as you think they are, they are better than heat but not great lol most f1 drivers hate it and prefer iracing and rfactor
@@dylanshobbies8794 ok ???
6:16 if the next NASCAR game wants to have better online play, then they need to address the trolls that infest online lobbies and ruin them. A lot of people just want good, hard, and clean racing, but trolls want the exact opposite, and they are killing the online aspect of the game. If 704 won’t do anything about the trolls, then what’s the point of online? There needs to be a way to kick trolls during races, or even better, report them, and 704 can band or suspend them from online lobbies. That is one thing that many people want. It’s a thing that needs to happen if online can even be remotely playable.
It’s time to drain the swamp of trolls
That’s why I quit playing online.

I'm all for good hard clean racing however 100% clean racing gets boring. What's wrong with a little rubbing and bumping your opponents cars? I mean everyone wants to win right? Well sometimes in order to win it means you're going to have to pull some of those intimidator bump and runs off. I'm not saying go race online with intentions of taking everyone out; I'm saying if need be in closing laps there nothing wrong with a bump and run or dumping someone to pick up a win. I mean the real drivers in the real life who race for a living so exactly what I just said and they don't cry about it or ask nascar to ban a driver for rubbing thier car or pulling a bump and run or dumping them instead they get payback at another race on another day. After all real true nascar racing is a rubbing is racing type of racing and is what helped nascar get as big as they did.
Excellent Point!
Hear me out here: if you play career mode and win seven championships. You unlock a playable retro Dale Earnhardt. Win five in a row, you get Jimmie Johnson
One championship: Dale Jr
bingo 100% needs to be done.
The 704 Nascar games have been like the Madden NFL Games, a 60 dollar roster update and nothing more. If Nascar '21 is just another 60 dollar roster update the 704 needs to fucking go.
We want old tracks and drivers too
0:42 *My time has come*

Gonna be real with you, this is the 8th time i've seen this clip now and it's still funny, and it's iconic now within the community it seems, lmao
Definitely the physics, along with AI fuel/ tire wear. Should always be equal % as player
THIS, I'm glad I'm not the only one, I always wonder if anyone ever went through that, I'll pit and 100 % tire wear and running same lap times as someone with 40%...like how 😭
What pissed me off about the Heat series is they never made much of an effort to fix or do things that fans wanted and instead put things in the game they thought would be good
They really didn't
I know someone who is close friends with someone on the dev team. She told me that they worked _tirelessly_ to get the game to happen but they were a tiny team and way out of their league to try and create a next-gen nascar experience. Don't say they didn't make an effort because they absolutely did but they weren't at all ready for what was to come.
@@purplegill10 mhmhm sure they didn’t put any effort at all gave us absolutely nothing we wanted ask this so called friend of yours if it was them not doing the work and executives not letting them
@@brg9759 Keep in mind they're a team of only a couple dozen people _total_ when it comes to developing this game. Even EA's studios back in the ps2 days had over 100
To go off your point of give the player something after winning. Remember the NT2004 trophy room? I remember wanting to win those races because I wanted to see that room full of all the different trophies, something very simple to add
The career mode. Thunder 03 and 04 are still my favorite games by far. Have the ability to do R&D, purchase equipment to better your organization, hire crew members. Also, make a owner mode where you can hire say Jeffery Earnhardt to drive your car and give him commands and strategy to lead him to the front. Not everyone likes playing online all the time. They make the career like that id never buy another game.
A MyLeague Mode, being able to put drivers wherever you want, making a custom scheldule, and even having a multi car team and being able to hire drivers (real or fantasy). That would be the one thing that make me easily put around 4,000 hours into the game.
Me personally I want better physics and graphics, but most important to me is a stable online mode, and a variety of tracks, not just the ones that nascar actually races at.
What I want the most from a NASCAR game is the ability to race older styles of car from my childhood against the new cars. I want to run a Thunderbird against the current Mustang, or run a Pontiac Grand Prix!
If they took any of the EA games and just basically remastered it and updated it, it would be the best NASCAR game in the last 15 years
In-depth career and better racing physics and controls: I would have spent a lot more time playing the heat games if I could have driven the stock cars without constantly spinning out. I had fun with the trucks and dirt cars because they were easy to drive, but I quit when I got to the Xfinity series because the car constantly spun out.
There has been plenty of time to work on the new game, since Heat 5 was pretty much Heat 4 with a Roster Update, With the New Engine I’m Optimistic that this game will be good, My confidence isn’t as good though.
An owner mode would be super cool. Like you start in arca or dirt as a team owner and you have to hire drivers and as you're more successful you have the option to move up, get more cars, get better drivers, you could develop your driver all the way through or hop from driver to driver as you move up series, etc.
I wish they had the Custom Template of NAsCAR09, that one was the best car customization of NASCAR consoles games
I don't believe just one thing would make it great again. 1 fix game play. 2. Paint Booth make your own schemes old schemes multiple cars and schemes. 3. Old tracks/Drivers. 4. Choose your own sponsorships, not just by make. Oh. 4. Better in depth career mode would be awesome.
I just want to see an RnD system like f1 has and I want a lower series that actually exist like arca menards or the K and N
It's so simple... Just copy what F1 does.. They have a amazing build your team from the bottom or mirror it
or the nascar whelen late model stock car series would be great to have on a game especially with the different divisions I.e. where those drivers race at determines if they are for the North East series south east series etc etc and depending on how many races are ran and where they are ran at determines if a driver is racing for a track championship, state championship, or national championship.
0:46 BlueJimmie's commentary makes this so much better
I want an interview system.
You can have an interview before and after the race and the interviewer can ask you questions about the race and stuff
For me it was Thunder 03 on PS2. The four song soundtrack still plays in my head sometimes.
I would love to see the thunder series ported to current gen. It would be a way to get new and old racing fans playing good racing games
I agree for the most part. Especially on the in depth career mode like the F1 games and also driving physics. One other thing I would like to see em do eventually is a nascar game with a "time machine" option where you could lets say race Lee Pettys car on the Daytona Beach course with the drivers and cars from that time or if you wanted to play as Alan Kuwicki in his car at the old Atlanta configuration with the drivers from that era, etc.
A lot of different things are needed.
Refined Career mode
Better Physics
And Better Multiplayer.
Along with a few smaller things that can really push the game over the top.
Paint Booth
Legend Drivers
More accurate Damage Model
Custom Lap settings, Being able to choose between 1-200 laps rather than percentage. (Number of laps varying from track to track)
All of these combine to create a good game that people will stick around to play.
Needs to be more realistic damage spinscrashes from opponents door marks like Papyrus had and Nascar 04 when pulling into victory lane with a car that has damage track debris would be awesome!
I agree 100% on everything, specially the freedom to create stuff and old time drivers to unlock.
Great video!
Really enjoyed your take. My first game was Thunder 2003 on ps2. Got it September of ‘03 as a 7 year old kid.
I remember the hype surrounding Thunder 04’s release and how it remains the best console nascar game ever.
If 704 could get even half the level of depth that game had, I’d be satisfied.
Give us another Thunder license that helps you learn the tracks.
What about a trophy room?
Yes to legend drivers and fantasy tracks!
And if career mode had to sacrifice the lower series to make cup more immersive, they should do it.
I think I the iceberg and Raw Gator hit some of the most points on developing a new Nascar game 704 hire this man he can save us
I got iRacing for indycar, but got addicted to stock car racing. It’s what made me a NASCAR fan.
I'm not expecting a Forza-like game from this first edition of the new game. Hopefully we get something similar to one of the Codemasters DiRT series physics-wise.
I think I speak for most pea poke when I say that I would love to see the wheelen modifieds but that’s just unrealistic for the first game in a rebrand
My friend's brother, biggest NASCAR guy I know and the reason I got back into it, started watching because he had the PS2 game. Turned him into a nascar fan for life. Shame the last ten years of games have been embarrassments to the sport.
I would say, remake Nascar Thunder 2003 or 2004.
Legendary drivers would be huge. Dale Sr, Dale Jr, Richard Petty, Rusty Wallace, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, Donny Allison, Davey Allison, Ricky Rudd, Allen Kulwicki, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson. So many legends. Maybe a little bit of history for the younger generation to learn about Nascar's past.
I think the Legendary drivers and Paint booth are great pieces of content for new players and old players like myself. But there needs to be better racing more realistic car movements and a newer more in depth career mode would be nice also. Great video!
I’ve been waiting for the “legendary drivers” forever...
They need to add more paint schemes (older paint schemes and retired drivers). Like, add the old Cartoon Network paint schemes (Scooby Doo, The Flinstones) those kind of paint schemes.
Hello from Ireland you are 100% correct on everything you said. lets hope they get it right
I agree with everything you said about the new game. I've been a nascar fan for a long time and I would love it if the had things you can unlock in the game like old legends cars and paint skins and new customize option too. All that would be great.
I think career mode should be immersive like thunder 2004, F1 2019/2020, or even like the 2k games. A good story will do wonders for the game.
I think it’s a little crazy but they should do like Nascar 2011 the game, you were able to choose between ‘10 and ‘11 season, and also, I hope they just improve the online plate racing, I’m tired that the inside lane it’s the one to get by.. I’d love 3-4 wide racing online
And a lot of the reasons listed is why I would love to kick butt in career mode, and create an online league at some point just so diehard NASCAR gamers like yours truly and can have fun for the hell of it. Oh, and speaking of incentives, please let us unlock classic tracks like full weekend Rockingham, or Truck and Xfinity Pikes Peak, and your point about legendary drivers and schemes, I would be blown away if they brought back, (for example) Furniture Row Racing...
NR2003 is almost 20 years old and still beats the crap out of anything new being released.
Honestly I'd like to see a career mode like NASCAR 07 had - you start as a driver in Whelen Modified, work your way into the Craftsman Truck Series, then into Nationwide cars, then the Nextel Cup cars, while being able to not only race in them, but form your own team once you're successful enough in each series, letting you play the role of team owner as well. I think that would be very fun to have again. Now, obviously sponsors have changed since, but to do something like that again with whatever series they include, would be pretty cool
0:42, Jaret Lundberg the Flyberg!!!
NASCAR 15 crash compilations got me into nascar. A good/fun game can easily make anybody a fan.
If they put in legendary drivers and paint schemes I wouldn’t stop playing. Of course I want them to focus on the racing but if they beefed up career mode then added in unlocks like “win 7 championships unlock dale, or win 200 unlock petty” this is a pipe dream but I’ll love to see different eras represented too
Career mode should be like everything used to be. Start at the bottom on the truck series, no sponsor, win and work your way up to the cup series earning better sponsers. Then after you becomr good enough to win the series you should have an amount of money or points you work towards so you can start your own team, hire and fire drivers and manage sponsors and paint jobs, drive till your the best team in nascar.
I could not agree more.
While you were saying you would love to unlock the 88 Dale Jr car, I was thinking "Jr didnt race in 88".... Lol then I laughed.
I don't know exactly what they need for this next one to succeed, but I feel like expanded customization should help. I definitely want to make any paint job I want and the customization so far is limited. I know physics and graphics are top priorities, but for the players that like to start their own NASCAR team and have their own car in career mode, they would need to let players go hog wild on paint jobs, create their own sponsors, etc.
3:38 You made my day that was funny!
For me I want an overhaul of the paint booth. More sponsors, better paint schemes, better number fonts etc.
Love the Strange animal song by Gowan at the end. Classic Canadiana.
Id like to see unlockable legend drivers. Not just recent retired drives but richard petty david pearson davey allison Etc.
-Also custom seasons and lengths if you want a 40 race season then have it and to add all currents tracks in all series. Plus bonus track like North Wilksboro, Rockingham, Nashville, riverside, daytona beach, montreal.
And a actually flag man waving flags
Thats some things id like to see
The physics without a doubt and legendary racers you unlock after winning a race in career mode
That legendary clip 😂

Missing Rings Kyle Busch 2008, 2016, or 2017.
If I made nascar 21, id make it as realistic as possible. For instance
Id have you start in a low funded arca car, then move up to a more successful team, then after ur first championship, u go on to part time trucks, then full, championship, move up to low funded xfinity, win, go to full time with success, go to part time cup, win, move up to low funded team full time, win a few more, full time in a great ride. And u’d still have the xtreme dirt tour as well. But not mandatory in career
It’s me with NASCAR 08.
Go back and play it often.
For me it would be definite career mode.
As you win you gain more sponsorship offers and deals that go with it.
The ultimate NASCAR game would be one that you can play a career mode starting out running moonshine and building your car up to run from the 5-0,then work through the entire history of NASCAR. Wouldn’t be much of a “career mode” because you would be old as crap when you get to current day racing. But a super in depth game that takes you through the history of nascar would be lit.
Honestly I'm a career mode player, if thats more in depth with better physics, i'd be happy
Also as a Tony Fan, i wouldn't mind having to grind to get him, reminds me of the old EA chase/ thunder plates
Aside from realistic physics (we all agree on that). I would love soft body physics. If you kiss the wall it should cause a tire rub more often than not. If you wreck it should result in a DNF most of the time etc etc. I'd love that.
I'd like the ability to recreate some classic paint schemes. I think it was NASCAR 15 where I had made the 28 Havoline and 6 Valvoline Fords as well as the 4 Kodak Chevy of the early 90s
Just remaster nascar 07 or nascar 06 and i’ll buy it. Still the best nascar games imo and love the teamwork aspect of it
Have you even played NASCAR Thunder 2004? That game is better than those games
i just want NASCAR 21 to finally implement a part time roster that cycles through races this % of the time, that’s always something that I loved about NASCAR
After playing all the Heat Games from Evolution to 5th installment of the series I can say that they have improved but they still need to improve. For one the physics are still awful and sometimes it’s just hard to control the car on a short track. For example when you come out of a corner at Martinsville one part of your car will just lift up in the air making it impossible to control. They just need to fix these broken physics because it’s just obnoxious wrecking unrealistically. Now a good damage model would be sick as well and I say this because it makes a realistic aspect to the game. For example, if you slam head on into a wall your whole front of the car should be crushed in and parts should be hanging off the car. Or if you scrape against the wall or another car you should at-least have a big scratch OR at-least have a tire mark on the side of the car. Now graphics are good and they’ve improved drastically and I have no complaints about that. Now with career mode it needs to be changed and here’s why. The career mode should have somewhat of a story like games like NBA2K or Madden. I feel like that would change things up and let you have a real feel into what a real driver would have to go through. Now they should add a Whelen Modified series as well so we don’t have to race on dirt. I just feel like that’s more necessary to have a fantasy modified Series to race in if you don’t like dirt. Now with the pint booth...yeah that needs to be changed. 704 Games needs to give us some sort of paint booth that we can enjoy, if they can’t do that then at-least give us schemes that we can enjoy and not the ones currently in the games. But that’s all I have to say.
Honestly just make a game similar to the Eutechnyx games but with updated drivers, graphics, and add the unlockable content. I would take those games over the Heat series any day.
To me the thing which made me interested in nascar was some short documentary on Dale earnheart and driving NASCAR in forza motorsports 7. Im not a fan but i no longer see NASCAR as just going around in a circle without any thought. I see that there is a lot more to it and i also learnt that's road courses exist. I hope NASCAR fans get a another great game.
Once Papyrus split from NASCAR and went on to create iRacing, every NASCAR game just went downhill.
Those Sierra/Papyrus games were the best.
As much as I dont want it to fail.
I feel like nascar 21 is gonna flop. I dont see them hitting the mark with a whole new game engine swap
I know plenty of games that have great game engines and STILL failed. There needs to be great care and quality, otherwise you might as well just have polished shiny Turd sitting there.
Me: Watches the video
Also me: MAN NASCAR 21 IS BROKEN
Add sponsors to the Paint Booth. I want to run a McDonalds or Coke car, or a mix. I want that. More than just Hendrick sponsors. I'm wanting to run Ford, Chevy, or Toyota Logo's, or, if you wanna run the gambit, let me upload my own.
I want a system that if you go under 50 MPH, you're car is ghosted so you can't run into people into you and wreck you. Punish trolls that ruin online races.
Funny enough I'm in the gen z I got to play the last installment of EA nascar and I loved during practice I would just drive backwards for fun and I learned how to race in games because of that when I start going the correct way I learned a lot I cam back with nascar heat evolution and hated it because one of my favorite things is career and I would not call the thing I played a career
Thank you for my Tim talk
I agree on physics. I loved nascar inside line physics. Nascar heat just seems like it took 10 steeps backwards. I miss the old games
If it sucks I'll be pissed. That being said, my preferred game kinda lays out like this:
Replace the Dirt Series with ARCA.
Have the damage be more like the EA era from 03-07. Car gets beat up and is repaired, but it doesn't look like a brand new car.
PAINT BOOTH! PAINT BOOTH! PAINT BOOTH! 2011-2015 had the best custom scheme booth.
I always thought Go or Go Home qualifying would be fun in a game. Theres always been cars in-game that don't race, why not have to battle it out with the other cars and risk missing the race.
Duel Races. I miss the duel races.
NORM BENNING'S TRUCK!
VERY well done, Jaret.
