There are actually 6 games in the 99
NASCAR was on top of the world at that time, so much merchandise was being pumped out, you couldn’t go a day without encountering something NASCAR related.

The early 2000s was the best era of NASCAR games. You had Monster Game's Heat and Dirt to Daytona, EA's NASCAR Thunder series and 2005 Chase for the Cup, and Papyrus's NASCAR Racing series. Nr2003 is still relevant to this day thanks to the modding community. You can basically turn it into a free version of iRacing. Game looks great too with the MENCup19 mod and graphics update. People have event modded in VR. It's insane. But Nr2003, Dirt to Daytona, and Thunder 2004 all released within a one year span. Couldn't have asked for a better year for any genre in general. Three games that still stand the test of time.

Let’s not forgot the mod community for making the game like brand new. I am thankful for those guys for the creativity and passion they have.They are the hero’s when it comes to Nr2003 I mean between the series updates , tracks both old and new and of course the cars some of these painters should design cars for NASCAR teams there absolutely amazing and thats just the tip of the iceberg of the mod community.

I owned the papyrus nascar games and they were pretty fun to play.
Doing a full length Busch race on nascar racing 3 at south Boston was always cool, the furthest I went in a race to make my only stop was lap 195 of 300
South Boston was my favorite track on that game

I didnt get my first nascar game til 2008. So inside line is by far my favorite
I strongly suggest for you to get a PS2 and play Thunder 2004 and 2005 chase for the cup. Great Nascar games.
@@howie3601 I've still got my ps2 in working condition. Im gonna have to look into it. I've heard so much hype on those games. Tbh I loved 2008 cause I believe that had Trucks and dirt on it and you could customize the your ride. But I'm not sure. But as of now, Inside line is my favorite one

Totally went from arcade style, then almost full blown simulator, then back to arcade
I remember playing Bill Elliott's NASCAR Challenge on the NES. I used to like NASCAR as a kid until I moved on to other motorsports like F1. I also played NASCAR Chase for the Cup 2004 and NASCAR 99. It's also pretty cool that Gran Turismo 5 and 6 had the NASCAR license. Forza 7 also has NASCAR.
Don't forget with Real Racing 3 (yet another EA game), it got NASCAR license too (complete with 2013 & 2021 season)

The best part of NASCAR games from the 1st Thunder up until the end of the EA-era? They have the same triple digit numbered cars & sponsors for fantasy drivers lol
They need to bring back the fantasy drivers and the Tracks too
Only the real gamers remember shooting tires out the front of their car with cheat codes on ps2...

I used to play days of thunder and Bill Elliott's NASCAR challenge on a tandy 386 PC when I was like 6. Hard to believe how ridiculous it looks now.

Nr2003 was one of my favourite games of all time
When NASCAR Legends and Craftsmen Trucks came out for the time the visuals where mind blowing. I would buy a modern retro racer with those graphics today.

NASCAR 2004 and 2005 by EA will always be my favorites.
My first was Papyrus NR1, and I spent an incredible amount of time on N2 and NR1999 especially. Nowadays NR2003 is where it’s at.

1996, there was NASCAR Racing for the Playstation. Had some of the most realistic wrecks at the time and if I remember correctly, even had a tow truck on the track to pick up the wrecked cars. Something I still dont see simulated to this day.

Nascar 13-15 probably the peak of nascar game, the game feel different after nascar heat sequel. But no one can beat the almighty nascar rumble

I am so glad I grew up with Nascar 07 on the PS2
I remember racing aginst Dale Jr. in the wee hours of the mornings just before he went fulltime in the Cup Series in NASCAR Racing. Papyrus had the best game of any that were available back then.
Nascar thunder was a solid game for its time and so was nascar 2003 season. What a hit!

NASCAR HEAT EVOLUTION to 5 looked like a cartoon whilst 21 IGNITION sounded like a prototyped BIG RIGS OVER THE ROAD RACING.

Nascar Racing 3 1999, NASCAR 2001, Nascar Heat 2002, Nascar Dirt to Daytona, and Nascar Racing 2003 Season all look incredible for the time.
Nascar 07 and 08 look fantastic too, and their sense of speed is incredibe.
EA Sports NASCAR Racing 2007: I knew I recognized it from somewhere. It's an arcade game literally found in arcades! I remember that being a lot of fun!

You mean graphically right? Sorry but the EA Sports games are objectively better. Better physics, career mode, all car skins we there to unlock without paying for them, Great soundtracks, and overall better experience.
If you haven't played them I suggest Thunder 2004 or 2005 Chase for the cup. I still play them to this day on my PS2.
These new Nascar games are just boring compared to the old ones.
