  • Carlsen's Shocking Statement On India's Candidates Tournament Chances | First Sports With Rupha Ramani
    Chess' Candidates tournament is approaching and India has their biggest contingent at the prestigious event. Despite five Indians featuring out of 16 participants, World Champion Magnus Carlsen says he will be shocked to see an Indian win. In addition to Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand too isn't hopeful of the Indian setup winning big. Is it because of India's lack of experience? Rupha Ramani brings you the preview for Candidates Tournament 2024.

    • @AryanDevkota500

      Truly..
      What magnus said was right...I mean- how come these guys find a way to create Controversy..
      Hikaru(a bullet champion, Blitz champion for many years, Big event like Norway Chess winner), not to mention, Most Wins in titled tuesday too.
      Carauna(who's consistently 2nd for Many years, never flinched, Maintained 2nd place, won many events, also selected for candidates),
      Of course seeing these guys Results, Anyone can easily say they are most likely to win or sure win
      Nepo, Who's won candidates 2 times, is in top contender which is not shock, Even Carauna, Hikaru hasn't done that so far, But since he's less stable and gets into emotions, he has bit less chance to win.
      Alireza is youngest player to cross 2800 which is remarkable in itself, if I were to rank, I would rank him in top contender but will do well is not bad for him either..
      Also Prag is emotionally strong and can grind for long time, But isn't quite experienced..Of course he might win in future, but for now, there's no such surity..Although, he will do win that's for sure..Magnus said that too..Soo yeah.. And also he's been consistent and Tireless for many events and Also won some soo Yeah..
      Vidit and Gukesh are not consistent as Prag, I'm not saying they aren't talented but you must have Strong will power and strong Mentality to Win in chess which I don't see in them(neither magnus), ..So putting them in Will do poorly is not that controversial..If they win, that would definitely be shock,(although Prag is exceptional, he got potential)
      I never heard of abasov before..So he mustn't be that strong like these guys..Soo yeah putting him at last is not shocking..
      So what why controversy?

    I was really upset with the video but very glad after seeing the comments on this. Thank god people are not automatically sucked into this rhetoric by organisations trying to make a quick buck using cheap tactics.
    Yes, all the three Indians who made it are youngsters with no experience for such a huge tournament. Who would expect then to win. It would indeed be shocking. Please news agencies stop trying to benefit out of neonational posts for the sake of it. It is not good for the nation nor for the reputation of news organisations as well.

    Carlsen is highly intelligent, that's why he hired Peter nielsen who was second for Anand for 10 long years when he challenged Anand for the first time. NO QUESTION OF ETHICS WHEN ONE AIM'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP?!

    • @kav1312
      @kav1312 2 месяца назад

      Dude, Peter Nielsen offered to join magnuses team after the championship, but anand himself permitted him to work for magnus, because they trusted each other to not leak information. We are talking about magnus carlsen, the single greatest player in history besides garry maybe, he beat vishy not once but twice even after the peter nielsen incident.

      Anand came to Manila interzonals without a second in 1987, nobodyelse so and finished second. When tug of War came with FIDE, in 1995 Kasparov invited Anand to fight him in New York where he set the stage and terms and Anand had to face adversities. No complaints, such a gentleman, he went everywhere he was invited without bargaining, played both circuits.

    • @SP-qo2lr
      @SP-qo2lr 2 месяца назад

      When he met Karpov in Croninjen, after the candidates he was not offered any break and lost the match by narrowest margin. After the contest that gentleman opined that Karpov was waiting for his opponent to come to Croninjen in a coffin! That much was only his protest against gross bias.

      When he met Topalov, due to unforseen circumstances no flights were there and he had to travel by road for days to reach the venue and requested for a few days rest, but denied. He lost one game and he fought back to win it.

      @SP-qo2lr 2 месяца назад

      In times of turbulence he was there in both circuits without any demands or ego, that ultimately enabled reunification. Kasparov was beaten by Kramnik in one-sided contest and contest between Anand and Kramnik was set as reunification match in which Anand won quite easily before completing the whole rounds. Anand has beaten Kramnik convincingly in latter's prime, even then there are too many rate Kramnik above Anand without any justification, a man who was there among the top contesting Kasparov from early 90's.

    Yeah. Do some more research. Carlsen knows what he is saying. The only one who has slightest chance if Pragg and Carlsen acknowledges that to an extent. He didn't even give Nepo a clear chance for victory as he reserved that for Fabi and Naka. The Chess audience tends to be very well informed. I know that the title is meant to get non-Chess audience to get interested in the news, but you don't have to stoop to that level.

    First of all: Its not Fabio! It is Fabiano!! You are supposed to be a literate journalist!
    Secondly: compared to nepo, Naka and fabi pragg, gukesh and vidit(although improving dramatically) are still inferior. Magnus is 100% correct!
